I'm drawn to Japanese rock/metal because for the most part, it's new. American music has become so boring, so corporate, that it's hard to get excited over anything that comes out. I've been listening exclusively to Japanese music now for almost 5 years. I haven't found any American bands that I like that are new, zero. I'm going to see Gary Numan in December, Boris and Pinata Protest in Oct. Saw BabyMetal last year and in 2014, saw Guitar Wolf a few months ago. Pinata Protest is Tex/Mex Ska punk. So not your typical American band. We all like what we don't have, and that's how I feel about Japanese music in general.
As soon as I heard Ibitsu I knew it was a Japanese band and that I just might love them. Now I am seeing them in America! LA in May! I love that I can support the band. They are truly amazing.
I really wish they would come to Australia. Even if they didn't play a huge venue it could be a cool opportunity to for them to visit the country and play a few small shows.
It's so amazing watching this now. Seeing them in Dallas twice now, I'm so happy that they really did take that leap. And I'm happy that they had a good enough experience that they wanted to do it again. I'm not sure what made me go searching for old interviews, but I'm really glad I found this. Thank you.
