Hi Barrett, Could you please help me to refute one particular misconception about China, that is:
      COMMUNIST China is ANTI RELIGION.
Particularly China's prosecution of the Christian religion.
My son complained to me that Communist China is ANTI Christianity.
Communist China does not allow the cross in the church.
I tried to prove him wrong.
But when I searched in youtube:
      Church service in China.
      Christianity in China.
      Christmas in China.
      Easter in China.
There is hardly any recent videos about the practice of Christianity in China.
My son said, that's 6 years ago video dad. Nothing recent. That's because the COMMUNIST party is getting worse in harrassing the Christian faith in China.
And to make matters worse. There is a plethora of horrible propaganda, with clickbait titles/pictures that portray Communist China as a hideous regime, prosecuting the Christian faith.
I was surprised that my own son is adamant, distrusting China, because it is Communist and anti Christianity. Despite my efforts to teach him otherwise.
Could you please make a video on how Chinese Christians practice their faith on a normal Sunday service, in China?
      Thanks in advance.

There is a saying "seeing is believing". That always holds true. We should all have an open mind. Travelling broadens the horizon. It is good to hear some unbiased objective views from people like Luke and Lee.
I have lived in different parts of the UK, mainly London, for more than 50 years. London is very expensive and you will get a higher living standard in Shanghai than in London with the same amount of money. An American friend once told me that New York was expensive, but accommodation in Manhattan was bigger for the same price as in London. There is no money left after paying taxes, housing, transport, foods and drinks and basic essentials, living in London. The more fortunate higher earners pay half of their salaries in taxes, so there is actually not a lot of money left.
I know of high earners in Hong Kong who pay a top rate of tax at 15%, so they still retain 85%. British, European and American taxes are simply too high.

Going further back, in China the Tang dynasty was often regarded as the golden era of cultural exchanges, mainly through the silk route. Just remind me a chat between me and a colleague years ago, BTW I'm a Chinese and have been living in Australia since 2004, my colleague asked me about my family back in China and he was like' what do you parents do for a living, are the working on a farm?" I guess that's the perception that many westerners still have on China these days.

Hi Barrett, just got a piece of news from Hangzhou police on 26June2021 discovering during their morning patrol a young girl sleeping in front of a bank. They tried very hard to wake her up from the street but to no avail. She had been sleeping there the whole night totally drunk. Finally she woke up and was very embarrassed. The night before she went to her friend place for visit and had too many drinks. She thought she had reached home and slept on her bed. The photo of her sleeping on the ground showing her hand was clutching her mobile phone and she looked like 20 plus of age wearing a pair of very-short short and sling tee shirt exposing her tummy and her long legs. she slept in the open the whole night without any person attacking her or steal her phone. This shows how safe China is for a beautiful young girl dressed sexily and by herself sleeping on the street in a big city of Hangzhou without bodily harm.

China has been developing so rapidly in the last two decades. I am from Shenzhen. 16 years ago, I was just like the young man, traveling to the UK as an oversea student. I was then luckily rewarded a scholarship named Oversea Research Students Awards Scheme (ORSAS) funded by the UK government. The scholarship not only covered my PhD full tuition fee as an oversea student for three years, but also it provided £1000 per month to financially support my living cost. The RMB to GBP exchange rate was 16 to 1 at the time. I was like earning 16000yuan every month, which was even more than my dad working as a senior engineer in Shenzhen, the richest city in mainland China then. However, 16 years later, the story has completely changed. There are more and more students from western countries coming to study in China now.
