This was my Dad's favorite. We kids hated this "lame" Christmas album. Ever since my Dad died way back in 1993 I've listened to this while wrapping gifts and thinking of my beloved not-so-lame Dad. I'm doing that right now. Thanks for sharing.
This was my favourite Christmas album too. Loved it when I was a kid and I still do. Brings back so many memories of my mom, dad, my sister and brothers. I sure miss my mom & dad. Especially at Christmas time.
This music was The soundtrack to the two Christmases my brother spent in Vietnam. My mother would turn all the lights off except the Christmas tree, put on Jackie Gleason's music, and have a good cry. When the album was finished, she'd gather her tissues, fix her makeup, and get ready with a smile for my father to come home from work. It was the 60's. I learned a great deal from her, though, as I quietly watched these scenes play out. I learned about the inner strength of women that has held me in good stead until this day. Thanks to Jackie and my dear mom.
Beautiful music opens the windows of your soul. Allowing your memories to come to light with love and emotion all of Jackie Gleason arrangements do that. The world lost a true treasure. Rip mr Gleason thank you from my heart
Jackie Gleason's music has been part of my choice in music since the 50s, and nothing has changed now in 2019. The Gleason sound is special and unique, and nowhere is it more present than at Christmastime. Memories of Christmas' past abound. Particularly after a busy and sometimes hectic Christmas Day with one's family when the time came to turn on the stereo and just kick back in the evening, in a room lit only by the glow of a Christmas tree and the warmth of a cosy fireplace, and melt into relaxation soothed my Jackie's yuletide stylings. Ahh! Works every time for me. Then and now, there's nothing comparable to Jackie Gleason and his orchestra. Thank you, Jackie, for so many memories over a lifetime of listening and appreciation.
I listen to Jackie's music year round. His Christmas albums are particularly soothing, whether the end to a busy week day, or during the holiday rush. It's timeless and beautiful. ❤
Thankyou for having this album on UA-cam~ all of my childhood memories of Christmas include this album and other Jackie Gleason Christmas albums~ Johnny Mathis, and other music from the 1950’s and 60’s~ This music hits my heart and reminds me of the wonderful parents I had who are now gone~ Thankyou
Mr. Gleason's orchestrations are the embodiment of that classic '50's/'60's-era "Wall of Velvet Sound." I play his music every Christmas and it reminds me of when I was a kid in the '70s and my parents played his music. This music is essential to every Christmas I've ever known. Thank you, Mr. Gleason, for the unending memories.
Charles Day awww man. I am so sorry to read that about your mummy. Try to stay strong and be happy. I know it’s hard. God Bless you my friend. Much love to you and your family. Happy New Year and remember, it gets a little easier with time. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
DURING CJAD'S "A PAUIL CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS" THIS GREAT MUSIC PLAYED INTERMITTENTLY AND IT TOOK YEARS TO REALIZE THIS WAS JACKIE GLEASON'S CHRISTMAS MUSIC. THIS MUSIC OF JACKIS MAKES MY CHRISTMAS!!
This is so astonishingly beautiful. hS VanDeren was the grandfather of three who raised me. There was always music in his house and fun books to read. And lots of puzzles and math games. The weirdest thing he ever did was ask me to scratch his scalp and twist his ears! Imagine growing up in a Disney theater with the most magical grandfather. But I had 3 of those.
THANKFULLY I CAN COMMENT ON THIS GREAT MUSIC AS SOME SITES WON'T LET US. IT WAS ONLY 10 YEARS AGO I STUMBLED ONTO JACKIE'S CHRISTMAS MUSIC. WE HAVE A RADIO STATION HERE IN MONTREAL CJAD 800 AND EVERY YEAR THEY PLAY "A PAUL REID'S CHRISTMAS". IT WASN'T UNTIL I HEARD JACKIE'S CHRISTMAS MUSIC THAT SOME OF HIS TRACKS PLAYED IN THIS PROGRAM. IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THIS GREAT FAMILY STORY, YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW WONDERFUL IT IS ABOUT HIS FAMILY LIFE GROWING UP. THAT'S 800 AM!
Jackie Gleason's sound is like no other. Soft, lush and oh so relaxing at any time of the year.It adds another dimension of seasonal magic altogether though when the arrangements focus on Christmas music. It makes that special time of year even more special. I simply love it!
MY dear wife died in 2021, and we love this Album especially quiet Jingle Bells we danced to fell in deeply LOVE forever, I miss her terribly, 53 years married, I hurt, no hugs, kisses, laughs, companionship.
It will get easier but it just takes time. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to ease the grief until sufficient time passes. 53 years is a long time, your whole adult life. When the person you shared those years with isn't there anymore, it changes everything - very suddenly and permanently. It's hard to remember a time when she wasn't there. And the world seems different. But just to assure you, after the first year, when you've experienced the holidays, birthdays, special events without her, and the year milestone has passed, your heart will begin to heal, little by little. The first year is very difficult, but it gets better. Getting involved in activities and being around people who truly care about you eases the loneliness. It will get easier. ⚘️
My wife died in 2021 . I do understand the feelings, the sadness and the grief. As I get ready for the 2nd Christmas without her being here, I remember all of the joy and happiness she had and shared with me of the 51, years of our Christmases. These memories help. I also know the emptiness of the missing hand to hold, the sound of her voice just talking and the kiss that was always as refreshing as the first kiss. I share your loss and can only suggest take the time to remember the pain, the grief and the sorrow we have is only possible because of their personal gift our wives gave to us, the years of us embraced by what true love is...their love for us! Be at peace .GT
@@mariafinn1082 Thank you. I spend the last few days on a personal retreat with a purpose of opening my eyes to my future not 100% on my past. I returned with a feeling of happiness because I now know the love of my life certainly wants me to be happy with my life, not anchored down by the loss. She shall always be on my mind and in my memories. Decorating the house this year is a happy event so unlike last year. Thank you
@@garytully5465 What a beautiful message. Yes, time allow us to see things a little more clearly, not completely weighed down with unfamiliar, sometimes unbearable grief. It's a joy to know that things are getting a little easier for you, and that you see beauty in this time of year again, and some true happiness, even without the love of your life. That was a lovely reply you posted for the original poster. I hope he reads it and finds comfort. Wishing you a Blessed Christmas, celebrated with friends and loved ones who knew your wife and no doubt miss her as well. People DO care. 🎄
I love all Christmas Carols and songs but ever since finding Jackie's Albums, a flood of memories comes over me and peace, sounds corny but true. here in Montreal we have a great talk Radio Station "CJAD" and in December it plays "A Paul Reid's Christmas where Paul remembers great times with his Family. Jackie's albums were playing in the background but for years had no idea who it was 'till I found them on here.!!
here in Montreal we have a great talk Radio Station CJAD and each Christmas Season they play "A Paul Reid's Christmas" who was a host on this Station for years but sadly passed too soon. every year he recited this wonderful story of his Family's Christmases of a huge Family with love and caring at its heart. I have listened to this broadcast for years and wouldn't miss it for the world. I have always wondered which background music played on his show and THIS incredible album was that great music!!
My parents had this album and now I return every year in December (it now being 2022) to listen these great arraignments and it brings back great memories.

It’s hard to talk about my Papw without crying though. He was the most sensitive man doing a horrific job and never understood until Ernie. They won the best grandparents of all time award. And she’s a witch! She taught me my best magic.
Reminds me of being a child over 50 years ago. I loved this music on Christmas. We had these albums. It makes me sad today. All that remains are the memories. Some of those were not good. But the music was always good.
Man...if holiday depression had a soundtrack album, this would be it. Such sad, lonely sounding arrangements of normally cheerful, upbeat melodies...even "jingle bells" is melancholy. Kinda makes you feel like you've opted for spending the entire holiday season heavily medicated.......
@@Bob12369 I have been listening to Jackie Gleason since I was a teen in the mid 70s when I could buy all the Lps & own almost all of them. The Xmas Lps were wonderful for you had one from the mid 50s & then one from the 60s.The early to mid 50s Lps are a more subdued sound but with the punch of Bobby Hackett- the unique Gleason sound was made & by the late 50s on was a bit more upbeat.

What a wonderful statement about the strength women have for their children. So touching.
