- Hey all, throughout December (and possibly into January) I'll be putting out brief history videos on all 12 NPB teams, starting with the Dragons. The next video will be on the Chiba Lotte Marines.

Crazy how this all start as a newspaper rivalry.
The Dragons probably have the third most painful team history behind the Kintetsu Buffaloes and Hanshin Tigers. Here's hoping things can get better for the Dragons in the future and they figure out what it means to develop hitting talent. Great video as always Gaijin Baseball. Also, the Dragons flags with the winged dragons on them look so cool.
I actually got into NPB by means of the dragons, I caught their run after they got the chip in 07 and through their other runs. Tony Blanco is still a fav player of mine.
Looking forward to this series...

E: Also, Wally Yonamine was not the first American manager in NPB history, I forgot about Tadashi Henry Wakabayashi. He was the first one to win a pennant though.
Great job! Love it. One question, What are the best Japanese baseball history books you know? No matter if those are in japanese. Are you able to share titles to search them? Thank you!
Like MLB there are plenty of memoirs out there written by former players, mainly in Japanese.
The best English books would probably be the ones written by Rob Whiting
"The Chrysanthemum And The Bat"
"You Gotta Have Wa"
And "The Meaning of Ichiro"
"Slugging it Out in Japan" by Warren Cromartie.
So the Dragons are a bit like the Red Sox and Cubs of NPB
I'd say closer to the Cubs than the BoSox
The BoSox have a better comp in the Hanshin Tigers
In terms of team construction, they are like the Cubs, I'm terms of uniform, they are the LA Dodgers.
I had Mr. Baseball mememorized in my NPB-loving youth.
There are only two newspapers in Nagoya. One is the Chunichi Shimbun. The other is … “Chunichi Sports”.

Central League has six teams. The Yankees of the East, The Yogurt Birds, The Meme Team, The Lovable Losers where its fans will celebrate like it's the end of the world whenever the won the Japan Series, the Pride of Hiroshima and then... The Dragons.
Has the longevity like the Giants but as unlucky as the Tigers. Not a meme team like the BayStars nor having good breaks like the Swallows. The only thing in common is that like the Carp, they're the pride of the city
