    FYI, the 20-hour limit lift applies only to international students already in Canada and those who had applied for a student permit at the time of the announcement (October 7, 2022). Students who plan to apply after Oct 7 are not eligible. International students who are in Canada and apply for an extension of their permits will not be allowed to work more than 20 hours once they receive their new permits and their current permit expires.

      @@whatsupkatchup International students in Canada can still work remotely for an employer outside of Canada while studying, on top of the 20 hours per week working for a Canadian employer. In Canada's website, it says, "You can work remotely for an employer outside Canada as long as you still meet the conditions of your study permit. This type of work doesn’t count towards your 20 hours per week off-campus work limit.".

      @@whatsupkatchup You are correct. Those students who submitted their student permit application before 7th Oct 2022 and awaiting for approval will also qualify for working full time (provided they received approval). Effective period is from 15th Nov 2022 to 31st Dec 2023.

      @@smwk2017 yep. So if she's encouraging people to apply for a student permit now if they hven't, then that means that they won't be eligible for the temporary lift. Just sayin.

    Growing up, the idea of immigrating to Canada and your channel among many others were a huge reason for me to keep going, living there was my dream. In the recent years I left the idea aside, but now I've graduated from school, perhaps looking back into all this topic may be a good idea. Thanks for the motivation, MC, Really appreciate it :)

    The tution fee credit refund is exciting news. Does one claim at the end of every academic year completed..ie., every year for a four year program?
    Also can I apply for PR when in the 3rd year of a program? Advise please. Thanks.

    • @smwk2017
      @smwk2017 Рік тому

      @@janekamau6716 Upon graduation, you need to apply for Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) assuming that your program qualifies for PGWP. Based on your 3-yr of studies, you should be getting 3-yr PGWP. PGWP is an open work permit, you can work for any employer. However, job qualify matters. You should find jobs in TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 to boost your CRS score. TEER 0 yields the highest score; TEER 3 yields lower score. After working 1 year, you can apply for PR via Express Entry. If your CRS score is above some threshold as determined by IRCC, you will get formal invitation to apply (ITA) for PR. Therefore, having high CRS score matters.

    The 20 hour lift off is temporarily until 2023.
    Are you confident they ll extend it?

    • @studyliveexploreca
      @studyliveexploreca  Рік тому +1

      I already mentioned in the video TEMPORARY. The only thing I know is that most students already inside Canada are benefiting already with a lot temporary policies being implemented lately (completing the program online, extending the pgwp etc, and now the 20hr limit), this is not forever they will at some point will go back as it used to be, so its up to you if you wait until such time.

    How to apply for the Tuition Fee Credit Refund?? I’m an incoming IS winter intake 2023

  • @smwk2017
    @smwk2017 Рік тому +2

    In 2022, tuition tax credit is equal to 15% of your tuition. Because of scholarship exemption, you are still qualified for the 15% credit against your full tuition even if you received scholarship and bursary. The tuition credit will deduct from the taxes that you owe. If the tuition tax credit is greater than the taxes that you owe, you will get $0 refund.

    If you're a highly intelligent and interested in Science and tech, You should go to America, not Canada. I suggest MIT(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Caltech (California Institute of Technology). and btw Don't lower your level with low-level jobs. (Labor jobs). Remember If you're a genius, tech firms are going to hire you. Work smart not hard.

      Carnegie Mellon University's undergraduate tuition in 2022-2023 is $60k USD per year; with room & board, it is approaching $80k USD per year. For countries such as India, Philippines, and China, there is a 10+ years of wait for employment based green cards in USA. If you get layoff while working under H-1B visa, you have 60 days to leave the country or find another employer sponsor.
