It’s easy to love MK64 because it’s the best version unlike Double Dash and all the others whereas Super Mario Kart (SNES) is a very close second in my personal opinion. 🏎🌈

I remember how I learned with my brother their was no room for error in this game. Nowadays, their are like 12 spots. But this game 4th was the furthest you could go without retaking the track again.

I was the complete opposite. I played Diddy Kong Racing the most, barely touched Mario Kart 64 because I never had a copy myself until much later, and the only racing game I played on PlayStation was Gran Turismo 1, never even knew CTR existed
The AI cheat something fierce. Peach keeping up with Bowser? No I think not. There's times i went up against a first place Toad and it was going faster than the heavyweights. The AI have unfair stats.
the only things that the cpus get are a constant draft boost, following a consistent path and ignoring collision when offscreen, otherwise everything else about the characters remains the same between players and cpus, except for items also, the lightweights are the fastest characters in the game, both in regards to acceleration and top speed
If only the Nintendo 64 was a lot more powerful and you could hear the music for the courses on 3-4 players and have 4 player Grand Prix with more cups, holy shit would that have been epic!!

Part of the problem is this game had catch up AI bad. You couldnt get too far ahead no matter how hard you tried.
