I know a lot of automatics used to be terrible but just because it's a manual doesn't mean it's a good one. Everyone of them is different just like every automatic
wow... just because its a manual, its GREAT . What do you mean its not good ? The only automatic ftype ill get.is the convertible, but because this has a manual I rather get this than the V8 automatic
I agree that autos have come a long way, but the traditional experience of learning each particular manual and clutch is something that is sadly disappearing. The fact Jaguar does one and I can vote to save both a sports car and a manual trans with my wallet is only a good thing as an enthusiast, even if the manual itself isn't the best.
Recently purchased a 2016 (used) Jaguar F Type coupe with the manual. Just wanted to provide my two cents for anyone debating whether to buy the manual vs the automatic. If you are a purest and really enjoy and added experience that is provided by a good manual transmission, you will love the manual. The clutch is solid but not unwieldy. The gear shift throws are short and easily defined. And the anti-stall feature makes low speed driving a cinch. Now if you are someone that is really fixated on track performance, then in all honesty, you may be better off with the automatic. You have 8 speeds instead of 6 and truth be told, the automatic transmission on the F Type really is very, very good. Probably one of the best I have driven when I test drove an automatic. In the end, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. But I don't think anyone would be disappointed with either decision.
To be hair to him, the slipping point on the clutch is unusually high in these things, so it is kind of understandable that he was ridding it a lot (on the throttle too soon, and the clutch was released too slowly) but you do get used to it quickly. However the pedal positioning is lovely, it is very easy to heal and toe, it's just the clutch which is ever so slightly odd, but it's hardly a gripe, just appreciating that he wouldn't be familiar with it.
Cant say for sure here, but there have been many cases where the 2016 f-type manuals have had terrible slipping clutches from the factory. that could be partly the case here explaining the bad slippy up-shifts.
+Taylan Gölcük i know it wasn't a rev match when he tried to shift up?! but in general....he didn't rev matched once.....that's what i meant. in such a quick responding car there is nothing better than rev matching downshifts
Top Gear is a Joke Maybe not a Shelvi but it beats the Mustang in looks, economy, Luxury, technology, refinement, driving dynamics, engine, everyday usability, ride, sound, practicality and its overall nicer to drive.
J. Martinni Same engine, same trans, and etc. Take a vette, V series cadi, and camaro; they all had a v8 but the only difference is the tune and engine code for sales (marketing strategy) LS9 is the same as a LSA even an LS3. Now the engine difference between an ls3 and lsa is forged internals and method of boost but that is it towards power wise the rest yes is different only because of branding. With ford they applied the same theory to their models such as the jags and mustangs by putting the same engine in and options to increase the incentive to buy but at the core of these cars they are the same maybe a exhaust note gives a better sound to someone but that's preference and can be changed after market.
The fact that its a manual makes it instantly desirable, the auto I didn't care much for. Jaguar with a manual, thats just awesome.

not to mention the manual would be cheaper because of the v6

Why do you care you probably couldn't even afford the first oil change let alone the car itself

Has the vcar been reliable for you?
That high bite on the clutch seems to catch everyone out. 👍

The thing that i love about you chanel is that you usaually do manual cars
Jaguar F Type Plus a Manual Transmission=Awesome
To bad they don't have a manual for V8 models.
I don't need the V8, I'd be just peachy with one of these in my garage :)
+maximus9401 Buy the six...and you'll wish that you had sprung for the eight!
You won't get manual with the V8 so this is the sweetest choice and the most classic🙏
No you won't. V6 sounds better, gets better MPG and 380HP is plenty.
Buy the V6...then when your buddy gets a V8....you'll realize your mistake. Two of my buddies have.
v8 sounds too obnoxious, v6 is perfect
That sound! Amazing!
1:28... FACEPALM!
What a lovely job you have!
Wow! enjoyed that.
I've come to accept that the traditional manual transmission is on it's way out in the mainstream, but seeing this car with a manual is sexual.
"This car was so exiting, i actually needed windscreen wipers on the inside" Jeremy Clarkson
Hrm, is this is a different driver? Shifting skill seems pretty different...
Yes.
+Tomáš T. no wonder. bad down shift. the guy in mustang ford 2.3 is better. is that just becoz the F-type is not a easy vehicle to down shift?
Cars are very different though in terms of transmissions... The F Type may not be as easy to use
+tommy tang The F-Type is known for its pretty bad manual transmission
i see. no wonder why the guy was doing relativity bad shifting. btw thx for telling
i wonder if the engine and transmission would fit in an mx5
All very tame...sighs. Revving pretty much all the way and not changing up but lifting off.
Is this in Eze / La Turbie over Monaco?

wow, surprized
How come you never go down Angelest Forest highway?
hey that's my car you just pass at 1:30, honda accord coupe. I have the ExL v6 in red though.
+kenneth brown Sleepers
no exhaust mic?
Is still my dream car even after the new upcoming Mercedes c class coupe
1:35 there goes the clutch.....better stick to auto..... seems you can't drive manual (rev match missing...)
+Biffi1992 it's not a rev match . he was just too slow to release the clutch . If he was new in the car it's somewhat expected
+Taylan Gölcük i know it wasn't a rev match when he tried to shift up?! but in general....he didn't rev matched once.....that's what i meant.
in such a quick responding car there is nothing better than rev matching downshifts
Thank you! That downshift was painful to listen to. Well, so was the upshift with the slipping clutch.
Biffi1992 all he did was let off the clutch too early. easy mistake Lol
Does it have auto rev matching?
Anyone else thinks it sounds sorta like a supra?

Caio #Rexpeito and 6 likes! lol
This dude sucks; not driving fast enough! He's only going like 70%.
I've heard better sounding v6s
Still a mustang.
+Top Gear is a Joke But better in every way
Will James luxury wise not performance; to much weight.
