How many people anymore even have a clue as to what the "Fires of Eden" really means??? So much of the average, everyday common knowledge of the world before the, let's say, 1960's, that I would suggest that there out there a whole ton of people for whom a reference to "Eden" would leave them clueless.

Cher and Collins are both immensely talented singers with deservedly LONG careers. Why even begin to compare their versions? Both women interpreted the song according to their sense of what the song was about. And for now?......I got me five very fine apples and six excellent oranges on my kitchen counter. Feel free to come over and make gratuitous comparisons.
