- A bronze sculpture of the late Rev. Billy Graham, the prolific evangelist also known as “America’s Pastor,” was unveiled at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday.
Graham's likeness, depicting the Charlotte-born minister with his archetypal gesture toward an open Bible in his hand, was revealed inside National Statuary Hall during a gathering attended by House Speaker Mike Johnson, Gov. Roy Cooper, former Vice President Mike Pence, state congressional and legislative members and Graham's family.
The Rev. Franklin Graham, the evangelist's son, said his father would have been uncomfortable with all of the attention had he been there Thursday, "because he would want the focus to be on the one that he preached. He’d want the focus to be on the Lord Jesus Christ."
The Graham statue replaces one of early 20th-century Gov. Charles Aycock, who, while known as an education advocate, has fallen from favor because of his ties to the white supremacy movement at the time.
While not a social activist, Graham integrated his Southern crusades in 1953, a year before the Supreme Court’s school integration ruling. And he long refused to visit South Africa while its white regime insisted on racially segregated meetings. Graham said later in life he regretted that he didn’t battle for civil rights more forcefully.

This staute is a memorial, and not an idol to be worshipped. Like the presidents who have their faces engraved in stone in the state of Washington.

In 2001 in Louisville Kentucky at what was Papa John’s Stadium, which is now L&N stadium, our church choir was selected as the choir for this, Billy Graham Crusade. What an honor. Yes we bought the T-shirts to wear in the choir during this event. I still have. One day I’m going to give this to a little boy who is born next-door to us who was named Graham? He won’t understand it at this time but he’ll grow to know because he is already Christian. Thanks to his parents. Yes, I don’t think Rev. Graham would be as excited. Maybe as we are to see this beautiful statue in his honor or to recognize what he has brought to the world, in the name of Jesus. Every time as he closes, he asked them to come, you come all the way from the top row the buses will wait your friends will wait come down, and this song,” just as I am” grabs the core of your being, as you watch, the streams of people come to accept Jesus. Just as I am without one plea, but that they blood was shed for me (thee)Watch on UA-cam from the archives. It will bless your heart and soul and if you haven’t, you may end up coming to Jesus.

This is such a out of context verse. Did the righteous back then have statues of themselves. They didn't so why do we need a statue for Billy Graham. Even Billy Graham wouldn't want a statue of themselves.

@@JESUSisLORDBiblestudy-channel There are many videos about Billy Graham speaking including the books he done so we know what he says. So we do remember his word. Why do we need a statue of him. Did Moses have a statue of himself or any prophet. The bible has made it clearly time and time again that idolatry is wrong so why is an exception when it's a follower of Christ when not even one prophet or anyone who followed Christ had one of the themselves.

We saw a video recently of Billy Graham with his Free masons. Sorry, but it seems to me this preacher had double standards. How many Christians did he bluff?
