Back in the early days the Peace Line was not so grand a construction. I am very familiar with the area between the Shankill Road and Springfield Road. The residents on both sides of the Peace Line, were sone of the nicest people that I've ever met in my lifetime. May peace continue to reign in Belfast and the rest of Northern Ireland.

Most people think concrete flyovers are ugly, but we build what we need. If you need a wall to make your estate safe at night, you build that. The US, South Africa, Brazil, Saudi Arabia all have gated communities. If you need a wall to stop bored 14 year olds throwing things at your house, you have that too, regardless of the aesthetics.

I sincerely believe that the political and cultural atagonisms in Northern Ireland are perplexing to most Brits.

Hazel Wray to ordinary brits maybe but not the establishment ,thats the way they wanted it and thats how it worked out, divide and conquer or in this case transplant and conquer. The ulster plantation worked a treat and partition worked a treat until now things are tipping towards the irish nationalist side.

Darren seems like a nice guy but he butchered some relevant information that he gave you. Ulster isn't a county - it's 9 counties, 6 of which form Northern Ireland, and 3 of which are actually in The republic of Ireland (my country). The Protestant youth weren't 'protesting' over Brexit as such, majority of them backed it, their street 'protests' were over its implementation, i.e. the Northern Irish protocol which they saw as a weakening of their ties with the UK.

I’m glad you enjoyed this tour. Darren was awesome to show us this. It’s a part of history that is still raw for many, so it was brave of him to show us.

You seemed unprepared with your history of that area? Multiple side comments of how bad the cell reception was, was probably a bit embarrassing for your very nice tour guide

It reminds me of Israel and Gaza , it totally freaked me out ! Just been drinking with some fukka and how am I going to climb over that , to get my tenner back ? There are only a few mentally ill paranoid psychotic types that need that wall , on both sides the practical total majority don’t need to live in a mental hospital with high security.

Pity 'Urbanist' didn't let the tourist board know he was coming, or they could have laid on a few shawl wearing old crones and some snotty - nosed toddlers dressed from the waist up or the waist down (but not both!!) and a few scabrous, malevolent mongrels lurking about to round out the picture... If you go to Dublin though, you may still encounter the occasional hooligan bringing his horse on the tram, but I'm not sure if that counts as 'under - developed'...
