You are not the strangest Dutchman in Poland. Your fellow countryman @thewritingtraveler walked the entire Polish coast in mid-winter last year, about 400 km. I think in the last 3 years she has visited places that most Poles have no idea exist.
Intersting stories. Even a bit fascinating 😀 I love the 'biblioteka lamp'. I would never though about such a thing existing in Poland. The more with sometimes temperatures below 0. (Although less frequent than before). Well, I have moved out of Poland sometimes ago. Of course i wanted a bit of western civilisation... and could not stand internal rules in Poland , unwriten. After 2 years (in 2006) noticed that west is not so good and Poland ( society) unfortunately going /follows the wrong way. From what I have observed and learn, Poland unfortunately is considered in this sick system as a second category. Easly used by others. Unfortunately heading towards its own disappearance again. I hope more people ( Polish)will see through your eyes cos in media and shools we are keep in this illusion that we following and always behind someone. Its so much to express and explain. I am quite happy that we have nice ( not good) nice quality roads and others. But unfortunately we are not talking as much as used to to our next door neighbour. It feels different in Poland than 20 years ago. Not sure better that before, even with these new buildings and infrastructure. Regards
Sweet memories

The Dutch lived in Poland for almost 300 years, they were Mennonites. They were farmers.
