Agreed. This type of content is actually extremely dangerous for bank accounts, and those of us dumb enough attempting to save in the hope of getting a mortgage some day 😂
I have the same setup minus the twist grip on the collective. As someone pointed out below, you need to lower your stick height. With how you are set now, on a long flight your arm and wrist will fatigue from having to hold them up with no support. Resting your arm on your thigh will prove much more comfortable and will also help with finer control inputs. I have mine set where I can reach all buttons, hats and can move the cyclic without moving my arm from my thigh. I also recommend using the extension.
Even at 30° you have to keep in mind the bracket mount gives it an automatic extra 10°. . mounting the collective completely horizontal with your seat will give you a true 30° and way more comfortable. You'll have to slide the bracket back a little bit so that your left hand will be able to just touch the lower portion of the Apache grip. That would be the flight grip portion of the Apache grip. Then while you're in flight and in battle, then you can slide your hand up to the combat side of the Apache grip which is the upper portion. Collectively mounted to the deck of helos. Different helos such as a 500 little bird will have it. 10° rise and Blackhawks will be horizontal with the seat along with Seahawks. I can go on and on with that but I think you get where I'm going with it. Good luck! Nice tutorial 👊😎
@@Lungolord Thanks. I’m on the fence between that and a left Alpha Prime that I could also use for other things like a left Airbus stick and Star Citizen.
The aux port is to connect another controller. So you can connect both stick and collective together and link them as one massive controller, or you can connect stick and rudder, or any combination, and only use one usb for both
Probably be better to mount the cyclic base down low and then use the extension they sent. Will give you finer control with the cyclic, and probably better to do it sooner rather than later so you only have to learn the controls once.
That's awesome. I think it would be better tho if you mounted the best on the floor some how and used the cyclic extension. It being longer makes ur inputs not so sensitive
I did a video on my channel on how I attached my Apache collective to Boeing chair (same one you have). You may want to check it out. Requires a little DIY spirit but a much more solid route than flipping the additional mount you have upside down. It’s under my DCS Hardware playlist
This is how the cyclic on a helicopter actually works, it doesn’t return to centre. It makes it much easier to both fly helos & trim them out properly.
The flight idle main rotor speed of a Apache helicopter is 289 RPM. You set that on a collective( twisting the throttle section) and you pull up and push down to control up and down. You shouldn't have to change the RPMs to go up and down.
Firstly you need the 200mm extension. But why would you be interested in the CM3 base for helicopters when you have the Moza? I say that as an owner of the Alpha Prime on a 200mm extension into a CM3 base.
@@MikeyD142 if you consider historically all planes with centre sticks would need an extension in a sim to be authentic, I’d say that’s a fairly serious design flaw. Many others have commented as such and have had to mod in some way. Also not particularly comfortable based on other reviews I’ve seen. But I’m sure for many it’s great. Though if it isn’t designed for an extension what’s the point of the seat cut out?
@@MikeyD142 You can easily mount the stick on to the lower position below the seat (so basically on the floor). That will make enough room for an extension.
It does because if the mounting point is too high with an extension the grip will be far higher than is ideal. Actual pilots rest their right forearm on their right thigh in a centre stick plane like an F18 so the grip needs to be at the correct height to replicate that. That’s why a desktop mount is completely unrealistic. The grip should be nowhere near chest height.
Thanks for the video. IRL cyclic is way too high. For the most part you rest you forearm on your leg as you hold the cyclic as you need extremely small movements.
I knew about Virpil since before they came to the USA. I ordered mines all the way from Europe. They have excellent and aesthetic appearance flying equipment which is the main reason why I switch
I recently viewed Blu Games Moze FFB review. I’m genuinely curious why he’s used the CM3 base rather than the FFB? Perhaps it was difficult to mount such an enormous FFB base onto his current simpit? Or maybe after testing both products, he actually prefers the springless CM3 over his Moza FFB?
I bought the Flight Seat Pro, and it's different, you don't have those straight mounting arms and can't use a collective on that thing really. I am still looking for a workaround :( It's not really clear cause they saying it will fit but they reference that you put it on a thrust plate so it's way more front and high, and you cant really use it.
Great, but cyclic pitch control is way too high it needs to be just slightly above knee .The instructions should have pointed this location out ? and dial back the sensitivity on the cyclic as it seems to be throwing the helicopter around too much . Not normally like this in real flight dynamics.
Good stuff man. I just purchased the NLR Boeing setup. I have not set it up yet, waiting to move into my new house. Not sure if you fly online with DCS but if so, we should link up and fly together some time. I do fly with a group but fly for fun with friends separately. Reply to me here if you want to link up and I can message you.
never sit for long on anything that is harder than your butt cheeks, cause later in life any chair at all will start to hurt. Get some pressure pain foam on your setups befor you need them. Also good are the Airbag cushions. beware young folks , Sitting on a surface that is not very soft for long periods is a finite resource.
I was going to go this exact route and was about to pull the trigger a few months ago but then I saw that Moza is releasing the AB9 FFB base and I think I will be going with that as soon as they have the software ironed out. I did order the Virpil TCS plus base and Apache collective though.
That's the exact collective setup that I've been eyeing. Komodo makes Cyclic and Collective replicas for the Apache, Kiowa and Huey. Hopefully they make a set for the Chinook. I do like Virpil collective better though. But, keeping the same ecosystem has it's benefits. I do think a force feedback base for the Cyclic is a must for helicopter sims once they get all the kinks worked out and we get to see which brand is the best. Especially since the Kiowa, Huey and Apache all have mechanical linkages in the real aircraft.

Got the VPC collective a few months back. Feel very close when tension is increased to how b206 and r44s feel in real life. Great collective
