@@gavo7911 They own all the original DB Soundtrack music again. That doesn't necessarily apply to the original commission tracks that Brandon and Therewolf make. Due to copyright reasons, they weren't able to use commission tracks for actual DB episodes. Although there was that one time they used This Heartless Empire for their Palpatine vs Xehanort DBX, so there are some exceptions in that regard.
Now that DB is independent, not sure if commission tracks are still off the table for DB episodes, but I'm amusing they still are.
Fun fact, I wrote the chorus as a joke and somehow it ended up being unironically hype as hell. Thanks again to Brandon and Tre for tackling this huge matchup and track!

That might actually happen, since on Death Battle Cast they speculated that this matchup could be a stalemate.
Makes picture a crack in the world appearing and then a drill emerging from it that gets between them, and it soon reveals that it belonged to gurren lagann with Simon at the helm. , Simon says to Kyle, "Need some help."

4:18 - Kyle and Simon are dazed after their previous power clash. In their stupor they float in the endless darkness. Only to see a light. Reaching out they both see all of their allies, their friends, everyone who brought them here. Everyone lost along the way. Surrounding them. Encouraging them to win. Filling them with hope, the will to finish this.
4:30 - Cut back to the action. Both of them back on their feet. Reaching their full powers for one final clash. To end this. Two drills formed of opposing wills.

Like I'm a huge Gurren Lagann fan. But Simon can't actually use anything alone. Even Gurren Lagann requires someone in the chest. Even If Simon is doing most of the piloting.
And when you get up to like Teggen Toppa. That's like 6 people's spiral force combined.
Where as Kyle is basically green lantern Jesus who has more will power than anyone in the entire core in some stories.
Now if we were saying like Guren Lagann vs _________ that would be more of a story

The main issue with using it for the fight is that the fight has to be paced to the music, as opposed to the other way around like it normally is, so it would limit the animation potential if they HAD to use Will of the Drill

Script time!
Beginning: Kyle Rayner touches down on a large planet somewhere in the Hand of God Nebula, and seems to scan the area.
Kyle: "Seems to be no life around here for miles....."
Kyle stops as he spots, in the distance, Simon the Digger. After clearing his throat he quickly floats up to the Gurren Lagann pilot.
Kyle: "Hey there! Name's Kyle Rayner, huge fan of your work and-Hold up."
He turns away for a brief second before turning back, a look of concern on his face.
0:00: Kyle: "You appear to have a incalculably dangerous superweapon on your hands, i'm gonna just take you in and-"
Simon bitchslaps Kyle's face in defense, crossing his arms.
Simon: "LIKE HELL! This baby's no threat to the multiverse, and i'm gonna prove it to you! GURREN LAGANN!"
The mecha crashes onto the dirt and Simon vaults inside it, Kyle rolling his eyes in disappointment.
Kyle: "Here we go again...."
0:33: Fight begins, Kyle and Simon dash towards eachother with differentiating intents (you know the drill, like the last ones you have to make shit up)
0:47: Kyle forms a massive aegis to defend against a drill formed on the Lagann's forehead, then forms it into a bubble to encase and bounce the machine about like a rubber ball.
1:02: Simon appears to jag Lagann back into working order and shatters the forcefield, but Kyle responds by forming a giant cannon and quickly shoves the machine into the opening before firing it towards a planet somewhere in the Hand of God Nebula, but Simon responds by generating a massive drill and lunging forward to attack.
1:36: Simon tackles the Lagann through an entire moon before throwing the remnants through a portal at it ala Thanos in Infinity War. For a second, it seems as if the battle has consummated in the Lagann's destruction. However, just as Simon turns away, the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann bursts out from the dust cloud and seizes Simon by the back of his suit before driving him into a nearby gas giant.
1:52: Kyle causes the entire gas giant to combust by filling it's atmosphere with Hydrogen before creating a match construct to light aflame, blowing both him and Simon back, though it isn't long before the two reengauge.
2:19: Kyle's actually starting to get pissed that Simon's endured most of what he's thrown at him (including the kitchen sink) and forms what is essentially a willpower black hole and throws it towards Simon, who literally drills through the singularity with his Giga Drill Breaker and leaves Kyle almost no time to react as he narrowly evades getting drilled to quantum dust by the rapidly-advancing machine.....
2:32: ....But he isn't fast _enough_ and gets repeatedly sliced by the Giga Drill Breaker, forcing him to erect a willpower barrier that Simon begins drilling into.
Simon: "That barrier ain't gonna save you! My drill can pierce through anything!"
Kyle: _"In brightest day, there will be light. To cleanse the soul, and set wrongs right...."_
The barrier begins gradually changing color from green to white, as Kyle reaches his hand into a white portal and pulls out a White Lantern ring.
Kyle: _"When darkness falls, look to the sky! A NEW DAWN COMES! _*_LET THERE BE LIGHT!_*_ "_
Kyle dispels the barrier with such force that the shockwave sends the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann sailing across the cosmos, now it's on. (Again, use your imagination.)
3:25: Simon reels back, then spots a nearby galaxy. He attempts to pick it up and throw it towards Kyle, but the White Lantern forms a construct glove and catches it before morphing it into a bat and homerunning the Gurren Lagann away.
4:18: Kyle forms a barrier around a seemingly-defeated Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and begins to contract it inwards, though at a rather slow rate.
Kyle: "Last chance, Simon! Surrender the Lagann and no more will has to be sacrificed!"
Simon: "Oh, some will's gonna be sacrificed tonight, BUT IT AIN'T MINE!"
In a veritable explosion of Spiral Energy, the Super Tegen Toppa Gurren Lagann emerges, standing atop two whole galaxies with it's arms crossed.
4:31: Kyle responds by making a similarly-sized construct mecha, and the two duke it out among space.
4:57: Simon generates another Giga Drill Break, and Kyle responds by generating a giant construct drill on his mech's arm to counter, both drills surge forward and begin to clash like the Anti-Spiral fight. The two don't just stop at altering space and begin _SHREDDING REALITY ITSELF AS THEY CONTINUE ATTEMPTING TO GRIND EACHOTHER INTO DUST_ , while both constructs are gradually fading from existence.
5:24: Both Kyle and Simon's vanish as reality is obliterated, both charge forward unimpeded, Kyle's White Lantern Ring shining like a beacon of hope while Simon's drill practically _overflows_ with spiral energy. Both meet in a brofist of biblical proportions as a giant white explosion blooms and shatters the last dimension......
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand now the ending, IMO edition.
5:24: Both weapons clash with unyielding force, creating a gargantuan white-cyan nova with the last dimension slowly crumbling around them.
Simon: "Y-YOU CAN'T STOP ME! LIKE A DRILL, I'LL KEEPING MOVING FORWARD UNTIL EVERY ATOM OF MY BEING, MY WILL, MY BODY, AND MY SOUL IS ERASED FROM THIS WORLD!"
Kyle flashes a smirk, perhaps this should be enough to shut his mouth.
Kyle: "Atoms, huh? Thanks for the TIP!"
Simon (at the same time): "Wait. No, no, no, NONONONONONO-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
A atom-shredding blast of white lantern energy EXPLODES from Kyle's ring, destroying the blood drill and slowly rending Simon asunder. Kyle then flies *DIRECTLY INTO HIS BEAM* and charges his fist full of energy.
Kyle: "Let's see you drill through this!"
Kyle smashes into Simon with a fist full of life energy, causing the reality-tearing singularity to collapse and detonate in a gargantuan multi-dimensional supernova, a stylized shot showing Kyle casually enduring the blast while every little thing about Simon is erased from existence, his atoms, will, body and soul.
Simon: "NO FUCKING WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!"
The scene fades back into a pure white realm with a gray sky, turns out there was one last dimension before all of reality was kaput, which was the White Lantern Homeworld. Kyle appears, now holding the cape of Simon in his hands.
Kyle: "Holy s*ht....."

Wiz: ugh. While Simon surely had the experience, resistance, and Willpower to keep the fight going. Kyle surprisingly took the Victory.
Boomstick: Yeah while Simon is no slouche, Kyle's high forms had basically direct counters to Simon's own power! Abstract Existence by merging with yourself across planes of reality? White Lantern Kyle can simply cut through all of reality by simply powering up! Probability Missiles that reduce your chance to 0? Kyle's Ion form had Fate Manipulation and can undo events at a whim!
Wiz: While those abilities surely are impressive let's get into the nitty gritty shall we?
First up is Simon, while most of his Mechas surely are impressive the most impressive spectacle in his arsenal was obviously his Giga Drill.
Seeing as how Simon Drill clashed with Anti Spiral's and collapsed all of existence. We calculated the overall power output to be roughly
679,543,640,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of TNT
However we calculated the rough estimate of Kyle breaking through the Source Wall with the WL Ring. And it came out to
1,519,578,100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons of TNT

It has been stated that with The Life Equation, Kyle can essentially rewrite all of reality to his liking. And by the end of his WL run, Kyle fully mastered it to the point where he became one with The Source!
And even then both of them are similar in terms of resistances, like Simon breaking through the illusionary universes within the Extradimensional Laybrinth, Kyle can negate the Omega Effect from corrupting him. Putting them on equal footing.
So even with Simon's proactive evolution via Spiral Energy, Kyle basically had the answer for every move Simon made essentially.
Boomstick: Let's not forget that Spiral Energy and GL Willpower are similar they are 2 totally different things
Wiz: Indeed, Spiral Energy is more of an in Universe mechanic and also factors as a biological power held within both humans and animals only.
Green Lantern Willpower is part of each and every being across the Multievrse not necessarily limited to just humans and animals. And the power is enough to even produce Entities that essentially represent this
Boomstick: Wait a minute where was this going? Oh yeah energy Absorption!
Wiz: Simon's biggest Energy Absorption feat was absorbing the Infinite Big Bang Storm. But there's a catch. Simon essentially needed outside help with the work of the Dai Gurren Brigade aiding him in the process
Boomstick: While Kyle did need the same outside for some of his absorbing feat. What matter isn't the power but what outside energy he can absorb
Wiz: Simon can absorb Spiral Energy but the downside is that he hardly ever absorbs energies outside of this. Even then Kyle's abortion feats are generally more versatile, meaning that Kyle can essentially absorb Simon's Spiral Energy and use it to feul his attacks or to physically amplify himself . Where it is questionable if Simon can even absorb most of Kyle's constructs
Boomstick: Yup this gave him a decent leg up against Simon
Wiz: Simon was if not THE most powerful opponent we have ever researched. But Kyle's better speed, equal resistance, hax, higher forms and greater level of power that came with it, along with the Life Equation, gave the Lantern the win

This probably tops Phantom's Game as my favourite track you've done. Everything about this is so incredibly well done. The vocals, the instrumentals and the way it feels like it's on such a grand scale, all of it is on point and I'll probably continue to listen to this for a good while.

Everything about it just SLAPS. The artwork, the instrumental, the lyrics.
It's all just...just...COSMIC.
This track. Oh, this track. One of the Holy Trinity of Brandon Yates tracks (the other 2 being Deceptive Tyrants and Thunder Shroud). The track that singlehandedly made me love Simon vs Kyle. Let's fanboy over it...uuuh, I mean review it fair and square. Yeah, that's what I was gonna say from the start.
First, let's address the elephant in the room. The cover art is gorgious, easily the best on Brandon's channel.
Now, the track itself. The track has this overall orchestral vibe to it. It sells the immense power the two fighters have and gives the track weight and presense, starting slow and getting louder and more powerful as the track goes on. There is in general a good sense of escalation and it feels that the fight is telling a story of two good-hearted heroes who got locked in a fight that started innocently and charmingly, but ended up ferocious and gigantic. The lyrics give off the characters's personalities and even voices pretty well (at least as far as I can tell from my knowledge about them) and they are clear and beautiful to listen to (Wait, I can actually understand the lyrics of a fantastic English-speaking track easily without having my lazy brain being distracted by the tune? What kind of sorcery is this?). The badass chorus and the "STAAAARS...AAAARE...FOOOO...RMIIIING" segment were spectacular and the highlights of the track. Also, throughout the track there are those guitar riffs and they give the track so much high energy and hype and fit the characters and matchup perfectly. There are also some calmer parts building up to the big powerful explosive high-energy moments. All those help making a picture of the fight from beginning to end. And speaking of the end, it's badass! It's fast, high-energy and has impact! The whole track has impact! Some people said that the ending hints a Simon W, others said that it hinted Kyle pulling a surprise W at the end and I could see other people taking the end as a draw. Now, I could see someone wanting the end to be more neutral and not hint a winner and to that I say:
1) a hinted winner would be a little more of an issue if that was a track for an official episode, but it's not, and even if it was, I personally wouldn't be bugged by it,
2) I feel that the ending is open for interpretation, meaning that it can imply whatever outcome we want, which in a way makes it even better and
3) even if the ending hints a specific winner (which could be the case, Brandon stated that he makes his tracks with the winner in mind), in a way it helps us build a full picture of the fight from beginning to end, from first attack to finishing blow.
So yeah, 0 complaints for this track.
All in all, this track is absolutely phenomenal, a really high, really good and 100% earned and deserved 10/10. And at the end of the day, it just sounds so awesome! Brandon, keep being awesome.
Not sure if death metal screams really fit the characters in question, but still, this is stellar. I especially like how the chorus is like a Lantern Corps creed.
Also, Kyle's last words in the fight should be some variation of "So, that's spiral power, huh...", whether it's as he's dying or after he's won.
Sometimes you can't reach that level of intensity without screaming. I wanted to do sections even higher energy than the singing was allowing, to help symbolize them both pushing as hard and as fast as they can go.

This one was a case of working on the vocals at the same time as the instrumental actually. And Tre has a super fast turnaround time - a lot of the tracks with guest singers take a long time because the guest singers don't have open slots to record for weeks at a time. There are a BUNCH of tracks entirely done just waiting on guest vocalists right now haha.

@@chrischg1197 I'm sitting on I think four vocal tracks waiting for guest vocalists. I think, and these numbers are off the top of my head so they're more like rough estimates... that I have 8 or so vocal tracks left from the previous volumes. Still chipping away at lyrics on some - takes research and I suck at research so I tend to try and watch the source material if I can, which takes time.

This might actually be my favorite track on this channel. I like Kyle and Gurren Lagann is in my top 5 anime and the lyrics of this track really encapsulate the determination and power these two carry themselves with.
