What an amazing aircraft. The most nimble and agile flying whale I've never seen. Great video, thank you. Here in Oz we're still stuck with (aging) C130s. Chances of us getting any are probably 0. Govt's too busy crawling up to the US.

Note that propellers run clockwise and counterclockwise on each aisle.

Such manouvers are possible with a empty aircraft, but they are safe only with ennough speed reserve, and with minimum G force, that was forgotten by C17 pilots who crash (Elmendorf base Alaska 2010) after a comparable manouver, but flown to slow, and too long time with extreme bank=loss of speed, side slip+stall at too low altitude...

The RAF has done so. They have converted an A400 into the Airbus version of the US AC130. As the A400 has a slightly wider body the 105 mm cannon & the 30 mm cannon, plus chain gun may be a bit heavier.
It's honestly a bad idea. History has proven any time you're fighting an enemy where one of these gunships can find a use: it's a losing battle.
Having these types of weapons in the arsenal is just an invitation for politicians and military generals to try and fight irregular forces in irregular wars.

To give some context, those propellers are ~14ft wide and each is powered by 11,000hp. The plane itself here with no cargo still weighs about 80,000kg (~ 180,000lbs or 90 US tons)

No! That's a 17.5 ft Diameter propeller, powered by 10,690 Shaft HP Flat Rated, maximum 11065 SHP. If that A400 weighs 80,000Kg gross, it's got no fuel in it!
90 US tons - I did not know that US has their "ton", LOL. It's a standard, since when US has their own version...
Was mir dieses Jahr in Fairford aufgefallen ist, Es waren neben Dieser A-400M noch zwei weitere in der Bodenausstellung zu sehen. Die Deutsche Vom LTG 62 aus Wunstorf und Die Britische von der RAF Basis aus Brize Norton. War für mich auch sehr interessant den Unterschied der beiden Maschinen von den Hoheitsabzeichen her Auseinanderhalten zu können. Die Maschine im Flying Display war wie in den Jahren zuvor der Prototyp. Wie ich es gelesen habe sind wir Deutschen ja wohl der Größte Abnehmer der A-400M mit 53 Exemplaren wobei die Royal Air Force nur 22 Exemplare erhält. Brize Norton hat künftig Drei verschiedene Luftfahrzeugtypen in seinem Bestand. Diese werden neben der A-400M noch die C-17 Globemaster und die Voyager als Tankflugzeug sein. Die letztgenannte löste Die VC 10 und Die Tristar als Tankflugzeug ab und Der A-400M löst die C-130 J Hercules bei der Royal Air Force in Brize Norton ab.

Great video but I had to listen to it with the volume off - I haven't been to an air show in a few years and had forgotten how irritating constant commentary is. The same loud distorted rubbish blurred out when people just want to hear the sound of the aircraft.

That announcer would not give it a rest. I don't know if they realize how much confusing noise a spectator is subjected to at once; aircraft flying, aircraft warming up, other spectators talking, and then the announcer non-stop. It's too much.
Agree. Commentators in so many fields (soccer, tennis, athletics - all sports really - AND airshows) just do not know when to shut up
I was at RIAT the first year they did this and the last year the Vulcan flew! Martin ALMOST rolled it i have it on video! Wings were past vertical in a bank!

@@annasstorybox7906 we carry regular ole barf bags. You keep them under your kevlar. I had the same one under mines for a few years when I was in the 82nd Airborne. You do use them some times. Especially when the pilots fly nap of the earth. Actually you feel better and go right out the door when it's time. Also you take it with you, when you jump. I wonder if they are going to use bird or joint missions?🤔

Hehe. For work i had to fly regularly with a small 24seated CASA. No pressure cabin, two propellors, about 350km/h. The first flight back was included with a landing inside a thunderstorm. No chance to take another airport because of empty tank. Like a roller coaster because of the up and down wind. Including a- sand, then b - hail and c- rain. Water was dripping from the ceiling and one colleague started flying in the seat when it suddenly went down. He didnt have his seatbelt on... After landing when we left the plane, I looked at the pilots. White as a wall with sweat on the faces.
Advanced casualty evacuation capability...I’m afraid I would be a casualty from evacuation, if I had to ride in those maneuvers.
