just used this product a few weeks ago it's the best thing I've seen. I took and alcohol prep then applied it. 07 Avalanche I took the 3 panel off prepped them. so far it's still going and looks good!
If you scrub the panels down with a degreaser and a brush it will look way better.. Not to mention if you want a permanent solutions use gtechnique c4 its an actual plastic molecule last forever.
Very cool! Is this more like a temporary fix that should be reapplied periodically? Does it contain any UV-resistant qualities or do you have a UV-resistant topcoat that you recommend? I'm in Phoenix, AZ, USA - the sun is brutal on vehicles!
I’m confused. I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra. Some of the trim is black but some is better described as dark gray. Can I use the black formula or do I need both black and gray?
it's been on now for 3 weeks or more still looks good. it's definitely better than any of them other products I've used. it's been washed twice and still looks good!
I have a 2005 avalanche and when I bought it the cladding was all faded. I thought about using armor all but everyone knows that you will just have to repeat that all the time or it won't stay looking good and even with that it continues to fade. I went to Home Depot and bought like 8 cans of Krylon Fusion. It is Black Spray paint made just for plastic. All you have to do is prep the plastic by cleaning it off with soapy water, then clean with Alcohol and then spray the panels. It has been 4 years and the panels still look great. My avalanche looks basically brand new. I am extremely skeptical that this stuff will last longer than that.
Thanks for the advice Zach, I just bought an 04 Avalanche 2500 and I was wondering how best to restore the plastic cladding. I will give the Krylon fusion paint a try.
Dan TheMan • Depends on how much it rains and what time of year... Heat guns on plastic help bring the oils back to the surface and should finish with a restorer like this.
You would be doing well if it lasted 2 weeks, if you are selling the car this a quick fix method to smarten it up a bit, but this stuff is expensive the cheapo is just as good or use margarine. Best method is to heat the plastic with a heat gun the type used for stripping paint but great care needs to be taken not to melt the plastic. Good video but it's all bollox.
VanBooter Thanks Buddy for the info, I truly appreciate the tip, I am so glad I can learn a lot via UA-cam and the comments section, again, very grateful :) Take good care.
mygtxful This particular stuff no, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong, if money is no object go ahead and try it, it's only a polish so other than your bank balance you can't damage anything.
+KiLLuminati bro you have to wash the shit out of the plastics. like I power washed them then cleaned them with carwash soap. it was a bitch. but in the end it did what it said. wipe new worked so good on your headlights cause you sanded hints cleaned them to death. but yea it works. worked bad ass for me.
+KiLLuminati maybe it was. man good luck. I keep that shit in my garage. I will tell you it did not work as well on my brothers f150. but it worked still. just no as well.
I saw an older black guy in Walmart the other day and I thought about it ran to my car and grabbed my kit of "Back To Black" rubbed it on him and WALAH! he looked 40 years younger!
Nothing is quick and easy on plastic. Do the prep work, paint and clear coat them. Long lasting, at least compared to these oil based products, just get sum oil for cheap and short lasting. U want nice, professional results then do the prep work no matter how u go about it. The more prep work involved, is gonna give u results and the happier u will be especially on plastic.
John Davis heat guns just bring residual oils in the plastic to the surface for a temporary fix not to mention it causes the plastic to become weak brittle and crack
Bullshit. You need to heavily clean the trim before applying solution finish, it absolutely does not work like that. Even Chris West, the founder, shows prepping in his video.
mark epperson I use Ballistol on mine for best protection. It was invented for the German army to protect the pistols and rifles wood metal and leather. It has many uses. Look up the history of Ballistol. I use it on my Tonneau cover and it works great. Wash the cover and let it dry. Squirt it on and use a cloth to spread it around. Darkens the cover if faded and shines it up. Amazon or EBay free shipping for about $17.00 for 14 oz can. Lasts a long time because it is thick. Don't buy the aerosol get the regular can which is the thick oil.
It's bullcrap that auto manf. put this crappy plastic on cars anyway! My 97 Acura has the original plastic kick panels on the sides and they still look brand new and car is not garaged. NEW!!!!!!!! BMW and LEXUS and others can't say that.

Lmao amazing comment
No doubt lol

Lasted 2 weeks and now back to faded Do not waste your money
A way to ensure a longer finish is to put a seal on top.
Use a black plastic dye instead. It will permanently stain it black
Most of this products are just shine.
Did you prep the surface? IPA wipe down
You lying bro.
A must have for any professional detailer. Will be doing a review video soon. Feel free to hook it up with some products 😉😉
My question is what does it look like after A-day a week or a month? is it long term or just a temporary fix
Temporary. after 2 months you need to redo it

WTF does this MEAN? I see the same question asked time and time again here yet not a SINGLE answer!!!
It doesn't last long!
Del,
People have said 2 weeks max
How long does it last? Till the next time you wash it? cooking oil can do that.
Lasts long enough to cash your check or credit his account.
How long does it last I have tried some other ones in the past and 2 months it’s right back like it was, so is this any better? How long will it last?
"there's product out there, but it doesn't work". Ya, thats this product. Don't waste your time or money, it will be gone after a few washes.
drumm3r66 not true
I just got Solution finish and works great

Zach Choate which krylon fusion black did you use? Flat? Satin? Or which black?
Gabriel Gonzalez I used the satin black. Krylon will last way longer than this stuff. Good luck.
The stuff didn't work for me,I have a 04 Ford f150 4x4 that although it helped some I in NO way got the results you guys say you got
Anybody else get recommended this after watching a ton of Red Letter Media?

only true good product for plastics is Refinish Restorer and even that needs to be reapplied down the road
itll just wash off after a few car washes
Uhhh... I lost count to how many manufactures make the same thing... years ago.
