My 2013 KTM500EXC is the best bike I've ever owned! Hands down. I is a do-it-all machine! The lightweight as you mentioned makes a world of difference to me. Safe riding! Cheers
Because Suzuki DRZ400S is the best, most reliable dual sport on the market and costs much less than KTM. Have they changed? No. Why change something that is proven and works great? You don't.
Hi there just joined from SFTS. Are you member of TRF or other association or do you just go solo? Woulb good to show a camping trip on the bike if you do that sort of thing. All the best with the channel
I was doing tight single track on my drz when I switch on my brothers ktm 500. Yes it was lighter and easier to maneuver, but both bikes were fun, and required some work. alot is determined how you ride and shift your weight. I would never battle a drz in hard core competitive enduro, but for what I do with my friends, the drz is fine.
Hey, since maintenance isn't a concern for me, I'd like to ask about comfort. What about vibrations (handlebar and footpegs)? Wind protection? Seat? Riding posture? Can you ride all day and not be a wreck by the end of it? Thanks.
@Off the Tarmac they have not changed because they don't need to. They can be easily customized to a rider's preference but they are good how they are. KTM is constantly blowing up on nothing more than standard trail rides. There are many people with 15,000 miles plus with no overhauls with their DRZ400S. KTM could never make that claim. I get it, you like KTM, and there isn't nothing wrong with that. But they are behind the curve as far as reliability goes and with their ridiculous price tag. Bikes half their price are running circles around them in every category. More money does not mean better and especially when it comes to KTM.

Couldn't agree more! It puts a huge grin on my face every time I ride mine.
Keep us updated on the reliability. Zero issues with my drz400s so far.
Hi Kel. I think the S is a better model than the SM version I had. The DRZ400 is a great engine.

@@billbkr32ify Sadly no longer available in the UK. Second hand models are rarely available and go for silly money.

I'm in the TRF, but I do a lot of riding on my own too.

The DRZ is a great bike. I loved mine and probably would have stuck with it, but I got the opportunity to buy the KTM and so made the change.

Just completed a 2,500 mile (4,000 km) trip. No problems other than sore bum on high mileage days (350 miles +)
Because you like having to rebuild the engine every 8 hours?
Because the KTM is better in almost every way. I love the DRZ400 but it is a bike design that is nearly 25 year old. Things have moved on.
@@offthetarmac4884 Wrong...All you did was purchase a money pit. But if YOU want that then awesome...

Bought a used 525, no issues, great bike. 113kg, plenty power, well built. Low maintenance if you're not racing.
Nice bike 👌🏻. Yeah the suspension on the sm model really isn’t suited for off-roading, it is much much better on the S & E models however.
Totally agree. I think I'd still buy an E if I could find one at a good price.
@@offthetarmac4884 very much enjoying my S model, only complaint is the lack of a 6th gear, but is an old bike now so can’t have it all.
When was this one filmed?
Before I bought a decent camera!
