Wow I looked at many videos about installing stud roller rockers and most examples were confusing and you are the first to make it look simple. The next time I have to install rockers I will follow your example. Thanks
@@bobsmith-st9lq i have. They are great heads and give afr a run and depending on combo can beat afr. But afr just seems to be the gold standard. Ive seen the 11r and the afr 220 make within 4hp of each other NA but the afr made something like 24 more ft lbs of tq when the application was boosted. Again all depends on combos.
I like how u did the valve adjustment some people keep turning the motor to the firing order that shit gets me confused but I like that way seems easy enough!!👍👍👍👍👍
Once again im am impressed with your videos. I love the way you keep it "Simple". And full of detail.... "Very" "Usefull". Thanks for the inspiration. " Keep'em Coming".
Couple things you might wish you did. If the hole the rocker arm studs thread into go all the way into the intake. Your motor may smoke from oil being sucked in by the threads. The bottom head bolts thread into the water jacket on the block. Coolant could leak by the threads on the bolts. I use liquid teflon on both. I like my tfs 1 cam.
Hey, I noticed that you didn't use thread sealer on the intake rocker studs. When you start losing oil or it smokes alittle, that's why. The stud holes go into the intake port. Oil will follow the threads down and you will be burning oil. Thread tape will stop that.
At TDC adjust no.1 intake valve then rotate engine 180 degrees and adjust the exhaust valve. Then repeat according to the firing order turning the engine 180 each time. When adjusting rockers you don't always have the intake off.
I did a lot of things back in the day to my fox ! I never put a cam in because I heard the term you have to dial it in. You made it look pretty straightforward with no special tools. sweet!
Those superchargers are nice, but a lil 8.2 deck 302 with some spray isn’t in no way a slouch either, I swear I believe they like nitrous as much or better than premium fuel. Spray the bags off them lil 302’s they love it!
Turbo John has a good video on how to adjust the valves and it’s not too technical. It works for me and it’s quick, helps to have the plugs out though.
I agree there is many ways to adjust lifters but pedestal mount are different which requires a different procedure I'm sure you already know that but I have seen people give bad advice on the wrong kind of rockers. Cars getting nicer every day.
Stock pushrods? Did you check the ptv clearance? Or are you just hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Also on header install, I like to put the headers on with a couple big bolts, not tight, and install the head/header together. I also use 2" studs so I I can shift it around to tighten the head bolts. Installing on the head first shows where you may need to gently massage around the bolt area for ease of installing the bolt holes. Arp makes a damn fine header bolt with a 5/16 nut for those tight spaces. Looking forward to the first fire up. Get it done.
What exact heads are these? I know they’re the SVE’s. Are these the 170cc? I’m trying to figure out this combo because I’m running the exact TFS stage 3 cam on GT40 3 bar heads and I keep breaking valve springs. I was using 1.7 rockers but moved down to the 1.6 thinking it would stop breaking springs but I still lose a random spring every couple hundred miles. I’m wanting to just swap out the heads for a set up like this that has springs in it so I can finally drive my car with a little more confidence that it won’t pop a spring, lol. I got excited when I saw you throw a TF Stage 3 cam in yours because that’s what I’m running and didn’t want to change my cam. I’m currently using the Comp 926-1 valve spring too. So I’m hoping I can find out what version SVE head you went with. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!
What did the mustang make power wise? I have the same set up with larger long tube headers, same SVO heads, x303 cam, 24pound injectors, naturally asp, ported out cobra intake, 65mm throttle body and I was told it only made 210 to the wheels today.
Back in the day, my assembly lube consisted of engine oil mixed with STP. Never had an issue. Primed engine with a gutted distributor and a 1/2 inch electric drill. Ah , those were the days.
I used a lunati 51014 with 1.94 valves and had to retard cam 2 degrees to get the proper PTV clearance on intake. I used drop valve technique. Tfs stage 1 and the 51014 are similar. What did you end up with on clearance?
Little late to reply but the xe series comp cams are nice. They dont lop as hard as a bcam but my xe270 sounds pretty nasty and has great drivability, lots of power below the curve. Xe cams need some really good springs though
Good advice about the rag over the top of the oil pan. Like Andrew, I had a piece of timing cover gasket get stuck in my oil pump after doing a heads, cam and Intake swap. It twisted the stock oil pump driveshaft like a piece of licorice. Luckily I was checking my gauges when it happened and I parked it. I run a hardened oil pump driveshaft now. Wonder what would happened if another piece of gasket gets stuck. Would it snap the hex on the distributor?
Good evening BEW2L, love the content of your channel. Watching the your most recent video on the installation of your SVE aluminum heads it looked like you put your stock pushrods back in. If I am correct you may want to change those out with hardened pushrods. I only know this from installing some AFRs heads on my Mustang and using the stock rods, well I ran into problems with the walls of the rod wearing out where they rubbed up against the guide plate. Upon further investigation when running guide plates I found that you should also use hardened push rods. Just thought I would pass along some knowledge based off from my mistake. Kind regards, Carl.
Larry Ford It’s got anti seize on them. I’ve had good luck with this as well as RTV on the lower bolts. Granted I’ve never used this on aluminum heads before.
Can't wait to hear that cam. I have a question with my fox maybe you can help. The other day I was out for ride and stop for gas when I started it the starter kept running even with the key off. Had to tap on solenoid to stop it. So I replaced the solenoid and the problem was still there so I replaced starter and that didn't fix it. The only thing I can think of would be ignition switch. What is your or anyone's thoughts. Thanks for the videos and any help would be appreciated.
