Okay, there is a lot of comments about how Izuku/Deku/Midoriya has darker skin. I've already explained so many times in the comments, and I'll explain one last time here. I headcannon him as blasian, which a lot of other people do as well. I am not POC myself, but I have asked a lot of people who are POC/Black about this and they have said it was fine /lh (all of this should be read in a lighthearted tone)

I really enjoyed the video but I agree with this. When someone makes a black character's skin just slightly lighter people act like it's the end of the world but somehow making a character's skin darker is okay? (no hate)

For Izuku look in the description, and for the others, they're not 'white'. They're Japanese, so their skin tones are going to be darker than someone who is 'white', if that makes sense /lh :]

I personally dont mind this headcannon of Izuku being BlaAsian , or literally anything whether it his sexuality or identity etc. I am just curious about something relating to someone changing a characters skin tones, cause I remember seeing people on Twitter or something going crazy over someone drawing arts or something of a POC character to white and apparently people went mad crazy and werent liking so it was taken down or reported it (I dont remember sorry) but if it was the other way around it was okay? I dont really care about these things and just go along with whatever as long as its not harming anyone but I just dont understand how If its POC going white people dont like it but if its white going POC its all good and even complimented ? Like I said I personally dont mind this headcannon and find it interesting to think or imagine about something different but I just dont get the other people very much...
i can somewhat explain it- people who are white have been privileged in the sense that almost everything is about them. but POC people aren't. most media is usually cishet white people (and a lot of male's) and while MHA isn't technically one of those kinds of media, (since it takes place in japan, so unless stated so, there all asian) it still lacks a lot of diversity. and that's kinda why these headcannons happen, so more there's more diversity. the only time where this would be bad (having a character being blasian) if someone put negative stereotypes on this character, which would do more harm than good.
So whitewashing (or, like you said, where turning a canon POC character white) is really bad, because that gets rid of that (usually) small amount of diversity and rep for POC people. It's kinda like saying "I don't care if POC character's are rare, i like seeing my white characters/trust them more." (which is a bad way to think)
i hope that makes some sense! (and sorry for going on for such a long rant)
@@MossySnow101 Thank you very much for explaining cause I've been wondering for a while now and I know people have different thoughts on it and sometimes I don't wanna ask cause I don't wanna seem offensive or anything like that but it's mainly out of pure curiosity and wanting to learn and understand so I don't make mistakes or offend people etc. Sometimes I know people don't really care and just hop on the bandwagon of hate just because so it's nice to finally get a good reply that actually explains and all that.
