Very good and honest comparison. Thanks for sharing
I saw it below too, glad to see some Billy Talent fans in here!
Les Paul sounds more mid heavy, especially in the bridge, PRS sounds more scooped. Both sound great, just depends what you like more.
Great comparison and playing and tones!
I felt the crunch was all Gibson and both cleans sounded great.
Wondering what pickups were in there??
I feel in love with guitar again when I played a les paul with burstbuckers into a tiny terror!! Omg!!
Thank you for playing some Billy talent chords and not just all bendy slidy boys. It’s nice having variety in YT
I hear your not-Open Car riffing in the high gain section and salute it.
Love the Billy Talent ! One of my favorites!
1:03 if anyone is wondering what song that is, its "gotten (feat Adam Levine) by slash"
I think I’d be happy with the sound of either of these 😊 if you had to push then I’d go Gibson though. It has just a slightly more pleasing and less “clinical” tone than the PRS, although ironically that would make the PRS probably easier to shape into different sounds…
Nice Billy Talent riff!
That prs looks mid 00s maybe dragon 2s
The les Paul surprised me I really didn’t expect it to come out on top it’s all about guitar character the lp has buckets
The prs has the most open clean sound beautiful
thank you. PLease... Gibson Lespaul Standard VS Gibson Lespaul Custom
I own both of those guitars. It’s not the sound so much as they feel different. Love them both but I have to say my gold top is … well gold ! Lol
Why not put the Les Paul up against a Core PRS?
since gibson has just become even more overpriced than ever before i would spend my money on a maybe b-stock or used PRS instead, especially the custom ones are just made with love IMO, cheers 🎸🎸
I prefer the LP sounds and don’t like trem systems, so that makes the Gibson the winner for me.
But double tracking using both would work nice.
very good
Gibson has clear sound (to me)
Preferred the PRS on just about all the sounds here. Am I right that the S2 has the same pickups as an SE?
Yes! they have 85/15S pickups which I think sound really good in humbucker mode 👍
I wonder if we would hear any difference with the same set of pickups.
I doubt it. The tonal difference is so clearly from different pickups where the Gibson's have the resonant peak at a lower frequency and are thus more midrangy.
I’ve had PRS guitars and they are masterfully crafted in every way possible. It’s the only guitars that I ever took out of the box and did not need tuning at all. They played like a dream. But this level of perfection in guitar making was unfortunately flawed by their tonal output; yes they sounded good but having played Gibson’s for almost 20 years, I knew the sound was missing that ooomph that only Gibson guitars make. So after much consideration I sold them both after a couple of years. I love prs core line and their craftsmanship but as beautiful and so well engineered as they are they lack some soul as people put it.
Both are truly awesome - versatile guitar, now, just check whether they give the good hard case, is fingerboard give any easy to play for some of hands, weight (long time guitarist will understand my point :-) ) and their tuner give any stable string tension for like 7-10 songs without out tune. Good luck!!!
Love both, But gonna go with PRS cause low budget.
Fair to say PRS S2 pickups are manufactured overseas
Different animals, both great, but for me the Les Paul please
(I have LP and PRS)
Prs cleans. Les paul for looks and everything else ❤❤❤❤❤ only one LP ftw
I would like to see a comparison and just Label A and B. Then see the comments and results. Reveal in a later video.
cool 😎 ❤❤❤❤
tough comparison as this appears to be an s2 custom 24 prs which have pickups manufactured overseas but in all honesty they both sound good. I am very much a PRS guy but gibson wins this one.
Great comparison. I prefer the PRS .. More modern sound with more bite. But it is close.
Does PRS have original pups? Never saw one with covers
Original PUs. The previous owner added them. They also added the cream PU surrounds 👍
Vs Flying V?
PRS best for riffs playing, LP best for solo playing.
Prs has hotter pickups and better intonation
Writing my takes on each as I watch the video: Modern crunch goes to Gibson. Cleans goes to Gibson. High gain goes to Gibson. Orange overdrive goes to PRS. Dirty goes to Gibson.
In my opinion, the Gibson has a crisper high end that makes clean and crunch sound much much better. The PRS is darker sounding without that clarity so it sounds good for very high gain.
PRS. Totes
Just Gibson is Best. Obviously.
Not much in it , specially with gain etc . My favourite Gibson is a strat ! So , the prs sounded a bit more like it .
Fender is the king haha
as for me , the gipson is brighter and the prs is dirtier , the conclusion should be taken by the prs
You are comparing import pickups to American pickups
I feel like the Les Paul has a more controlled dynamic range but the difference isn't that big.
The PRS sounds so mid scoped with everything
I just HATE the way the PRS looks. Even if it sounds a bit warmer than the Gibson (which I kind of like), I cannot get over how ugly it is lol.
Thee Gibson LP will always be the best.
A Les Paul into an Orange is pretty much my favourite sound 😊
They were both good but I think that the Gibson sounded like it had more mids whereas the PRS was flatter. Potentially making the PRS a better all round sound but the Gibson would push through the mix easier…
