I've used a number of Tesla Superchargers without any problems. If it fails try locking the car once you have connected it, it seems to improve the connectivity with the Superchargers.
I have a Kuga Full hybrid, and compared the cost efficiency with the here tested MG4. The MG4 wins if always charged at home! Besides that, the features on the Kuga work. And I can drive up till at least 900 km before needing a stop. That's insane of course, but you get my point. So, for now, not totally electric for me. Keep on testing😀
If you charge at those Tesla Superchargers that are actually open for all users (unlike the one in this video) you'll get easily the cheapest super charging tariffs and occasional free charging during promotional periods. There are also loads of public chargers that charge at 7kw for free if you can't charge at home.
@sytzewiersma9731 as with all people who point out that EVs are indeed a little less convenient to fuel than ICE cars (at the moment....watch it improve in the coming years), you miss the point. I could instantly lose two stone by chopping my leg off, but I'd rather put in a little more effort and lose it by eating sensibly and exercising, and keep both legs! I enjoy driving again because with minimal effort, I can drive with zero emissions.
Not very efficient, 3 miles per kWh.
Find it strange that the Tesla SuperCharger didn't work....I used one in Cardiff and it went A.OK - peaked at 139 kWh charged from just over 40% to just under 80% in about 'Not a long time at all' .... (about 13 minutes I seem to think..may have been 18!). Cost me £13 to get four adults from North Wales to Cardiff and back.
That’s cheap, the problem is as several vloggers are pointing outcomes charging stations efficiency, availability, popularity, speeds and costs are so random. For those saying oh just drive 20 miles off your route to get to a good charger it’s madness if it’s 20

Funny thing is, I've been driving my ICE car for 35 years. And in all that time, I've never once fretted about getting fuel. There's a petrol station within every ten miles... I don't have to worry about whether or not I've got the right app to pay: all of the petrol stations take £Sterling... Fuelling and paying takes well under five minutes... not 50 minutes.
And in all of those 35 years... no carbeque situation: not even a whiff of a fire.

As a cabdriver on Schiphol Airport we were one of the first to drive electric..the only cyfer you have to know is how much charge you need to drive 100 km, just like in your diesel..
The only other factor to watch is outside temperature..in winter it costs you around 20-25% of your reach..
Privately i drive a Honda Insight hybrid 1:23km no fuz with charging whatsoever..i wait till 2030 before before flipping to electric..meanwhile let others do the math and waiting..

Ionity Ireland 0.76 euro. Ireland is not EV friendly. My MG4 software is buggy. Never go a week without some error flashing up. (Generally goes away)
For its price, compared to other EV's its great. (I wouldn't but another one.)

Having to fiddle with a touchscreen while driving is the reality.
It is not possible to look at a screen and where you are going.
It's why texting and mobile phone use while in motion is not acceptable.
In-house EV navigation software that doesn't include charging stations? Which numpty allowed that to happen?!?
I'd love the MG4 in bright orange, base model with LFP battery would be fine for my purposes.
It is surprisingly hard to find a proper navigation system that also calculates charging stops en route. I know Polestar, Renault, Kia, Tesla, VW, Mercedes and Ford do it, but most others don´t
several MG4 owners have reported issues charging at Tesla SuC, maybe the difference between V3 and V2 SuC

My MG4 will charge Cambridge UK to Boppard Germany on open Tesla superchargers except one Lakeside Thurrock services M25 it will just not charge and locks the cable in for ages.
Might be a silly question but which is more fun to drive , the BYD seal or the MG4?
The MG4 XPower is a ton of fun being 440HP in a small car but the Seal is much more of a refined luxurious package

Not every OEM has an eMSP (electric Mobility Service Provider) or create an NPS (Navigation Service Provider)

Why is it that EVERY extended EV journey HAS to focus on available charge range and where to recharge? In my 19 year old 1.5lt petrol Nissan Almera I just fill the 60 litre tank (600+ mile range) and drive. When I get down to quarter of a tank I just pull in to a filling station, fill-up and back out on the road in well under 10 minutes. How simple is that and at the current £1.50 per litre charge for petrol costs me around £68 to fill the tank for another 600 miles plus miles of zero anxiety motoring. No stress whatsoever!!
Moreover I have a queue of people clamoring to by my 19 year old ULEZ compliant car for well over the market price. How does this stack up to the value of a two year old EV?. . .case closed?
2,184+ petrol and diesel cars run out of fuel on the roads of the UK EVERY DAY. ICE drivers have range anxiety. I ran out of petrol three times when driving ICE. I only ran out of electric ONCE in 8 years and that was in my first week of ownership when I was a complete novice. I've driven 437 miles to Scotland and 437 miles back again and had no charging issues. In fact all my charging was free on that occasion. And how many people are going to claim a 600+ mile range for their ICE car as if they EVER drive that far in one go? And why do you pat yourself on the back for filling your car before it's empty as if that isn't EXACTLY what EV drivers do. But we have far more places to charge so we can top up whenever we're doing something else. I NEVER wait to charge. Also £1.50 per litre is still more expensive than the equivalent kwh of electricity. During the "fuel crisis" the price of petrol went up twice as much as the price of electricity. And when it comes to "zero anxiety" EV drivers don't have any. Plus they get to pass petrol stations in the knowledge that the £20 in their pocket is going to stay there. Because you NEVER GET PETROL FOR FREE. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Curious what 19 yo car that is ulez compliant does 60mpg. In August I did 610 miles in my EV and I spent £1.60 on electricity, September 1150 miles and £70 because I was on holiday and used public charging, October 600 miles and £3.64. I’ve got a 16 yo petrol ‘tip’ car that does 48mpg and that too value has bottomed out at around £700 but guess which car I prefer to drive.

Not ALL Tesla Supercharger stations are open to other car brands. You portray it as if there is a fault with the software or the chargers. They probably work just fine. It's very rare to find a bank of Tesla chargers that are out of commission and they're usually back online within an hour. So you can put this one down to user error.
Both the Supercharger stations I stoppes at were in use and both were open to other brands. There were other cars charging there.
This was an error between the car and the charger. What user error are you referring to?
@@TotallyElectric I just found it odd that none of the chargers worked. MG4s can have issues, but they usually work. Maybe it's just a V2 issue. I once met a man testing the Jaguar IPace to make sure it was compatible with all charging networks. Maybe the MG4 needs tweaking, but I've seen people charge it on Tesla chargers at 130kwh. Total failure is unusual.
Here in NZ starting in April 2024 we will start paying RUC or like a road tax its $76 per 1000km. Not so bad if driving in city where you charge at home.
But travelling long distances and paying high EV charging price, its actually cheaper to drive a Toyota hybrid as only cars with a plug will pay this road tax so full EV and Phev.
Eventually all countries will pay that road tax so enjoy it while it lasts!
Do you work for Toyota as you seem to be promoting only their hybrid as opposed to any other brand? Toyota are of course famous for being opposed to BEVs and have come to the game very late.
@trevorberridge6079 Any non plugin hybrid regardless of brand will not have to pay this road user charge, and no, I do not work for Toyota and no I do not drive or own any hybrid or ICE vehicle unlike you that are one of many that criticise others for driving an ICE vehicle only to also drive an ICE! I have not owned an ICE or hybrid for over 7 years! I have been EV only that long, unlike you!

@trevorberridge6079 Funny how you suddenly have owned an EV for the exact same amount of time as me! 2014 Nissan Leaf brought in 2016! Crashed it in April 2023, replaced with a 2018 40kwh Nissan Leaf. My wife sold her Haval Jolion and brought a 2021 Nissan Leaf, so now our household is EV only. Also, duh! NZ is my country, not Fully Charged in the UK, and as I said, I love EV, but I do not have to attend EV cults every year just to feel good!
Software needs work. Also another owner says preconditioning manually, it fails.
Isolated chargers with nobody around, one big reason I never want a BEV, for safety reasons.
I've never once looked for petrol stations on my gps during the journey?
And I've never once gone to a petrol station with my daily driver. It's just ready to go each morning
Benefits and disadvantages are different with an electric. Not necessarily better or worse.
There is no place outside UA-cam for BEVs.

I save 3.000€ per year on gas so I would dispute that.
@@TotallyElectric that's a drop in the ocean if you are loosing €20k a year on depreciation and paying €2000 on insurance on top of the charging.
How did the BEV Tesla Model Y become the best selling car... IN THE WORLD? Not the best selling electric car. THE best selling car. Not forgetting that most people lease a car as I did. My Leaf would have cost less than £11,000 new if I bought it outright. It cost less than £16,000 on a six year lease. BTW my Leaf has recouped it's entire value in savings over my previous petrol car. This was before the price hikes that followed Brexit, global component shortages, the fuel crisis and other events that were used as excuses to hike costs. And yet BEVs are now falling below the £20,000 mark and due to drop dramatically in the next few years. It is now impossible to make an ICE car cheaper than an truly equivalent BEV if you dismiss the false markups by some dealers.
But the EV models are often more expensive than the ICE equivalent.

I don’t do many long journeys now, my son in the USA has a lease on his Nissan leaf at a cost which if he was in the UK would get him sod all he’s paying about £120 a month. Charges at home mainly and it works very well for them.
Major manufacturers have recently announced dropping plans to build and develop “affordable” EV, this is GM and Honda. So are the car companies saying we’re only going to make expensive cars for you? Changing times ahead that’s for sure
In the UK these things cost more to run than anything else on the road , manufacturers are heavily discounting them to get rid of stock and insurance companies refusing cover.
A popular vlogger over here does similar posts and has reported an £80,000 loss on his vehicle in the first 2 years of ownership.
These toys aren't our future and pretty much useless on UK start stop roads with bad weather draining the battery.....I'd need at least 3 charges to reach my son and this would mean adding at least 3 hours to our journey of already 5 hours , that would basically be our day done.

I charge from home and leave my house in the morning with a range of 330+ miles. (Tesla model 3 dual motor) The charge happen while I sleep and cost a whopping 5 bucks. I never again will need to visit a gas station. After 1 year I've saved over 2,400 bucks compared with my gas car. (Mercedes Benz C43). On trips it's no issue whatsoever. It sheer madness to stay at the mercy of a gas station. Mercedes getting sold and I'm never looking back. My EV superior in every way. Sheer delight not madness.

I'm based in Europe where we use the metric system, but I do my best to always include miles and imperial values on screen.

Just keep throwing away your money on ICE technology. If you driven a good 1:34 EV, you won’t go back to ICE. If you keep driving ICE, wait till the numbers go down and the gas prices go up. Without economy of scale, fossil fuel companies will have to raise their prices to maintain profits. And, since they have a captive consumer base, YOU, they can charge what they like. Good luck with that.

I’ve worked with Doctors, their advice outside of anything medical is doubtful.
