Great video. Nice to see that both the older dip and new hyperdip hold up really good. I just started watching a few of your videos and didn't realize until you pointed it it out that your Escalade is wrapped haha. It looks completely factory to me. I'll have to go and watch that video now. And also, I have never seen a car wash like the one you were in. This must be a North American thing because here in Texas, out of everything that's here, I've never come across an indoor car wash. There is one that semi's use but they are huge for that reason.
Up here in Canada where I currently live, they are almost all indoor only car washes! I should probably film a little more of what the environment is like here right now. It is so cold that they cancel school busses.
Hey Don, thanks for shooting this video. I have a 2021 Sierra 1500 SLT. WAY too much chrome, but I didn’t want to spend the money for the AT4 like yours 😂. I’m going to tackle all my emblems and HyperDip them now that I see how durable this stuff is. By the way, I started watching your videos a few months ago. Great content and film editing!
Thanks, it is a work in progress making these videos. For Hyperdip put all your effort into proper cleaning and avoid spraying in high humidity conditions. Lots of light, built up coats is usually best for the first few.
Got it! I’ll take my time. I’m a perfectionist, so I’ll definitely take my time and follow your advice. If this stuff stands the test of time in Canada, surely it’ll be fine where I live in Georgia!
Hi Mike, It would depend on two things: 1 - If the wheel weight is on the outside lip of a wheel, you would probably have to peel it off and respray. 2 - Outside wheel weight or not, the tire guide on the machine would rub lip unless the installer is super aware of the risk. In my opinion, it is not a huge deal to respray if needed. 1 can usually per wheel.
You talked about post heating all your edges but I did not see you do that in the video of you applying that. Can you explain a little more what u mean by that?
Post heating just means heating up the vinyl with your heat gun and running your squeegee over it after it is laid down. This works out micro bubbles and activates the adhesive. Manufacturers can use different heat recommendations and methods too
The Escalade is all Black, been wrapped twice by myself. First in Matte Metallic Charcoal Grey. Second in Diamond White Supreme Gloss. There is a full video of the white wrap. I like the 3/4 wrapped look, leaving the roof and pillars all black.

I have had it happen, but if you post heat properly, have a good quality film and let it sit indoors (heated) for a couple days, you should be okay. It doesn’t get any colder than where I live. 🥶

The front emblem is fine but I noticed the back emblem started to peel along the top, exposing the chrome. Not sure where I went wrong :( I am afraid to reapply the hyperdip now in fear of having to reapply every time I go through a touchless car wash. Any ideas?
Are you confident the spots that peeled were contamination free? It is usually a prep issue or the first coats were too heavy instead of being tack coats which grip better

Thanks for the great videos!!! I just used hyperdip yesterday on my Honda Civic emblems and I was wondering if I should use a hair dryer on a spot on the back Honda emblem that lifted a bit during the peeling process? I just pushed it back into place with my finger but I'm worried about it lifting again in the humidity or rain/snow/ice etc here in 🇨🇦. FYI I used 7 coats. Thanks for your help 👍.
Hi Nicole, I haven’t used or have had to use any Krown products. Most of what I have used plastidip on has been in new or like new condition so once the Plastidip is applied, it adds some protection. If there was a rust spot or oxidizing, I would probably take care of those spots first before covering.
Plasti Dip has been durable for me (5yrs on the factory escalade wheels). All came down to cleaning, prep, proper thickness and low humidity while applying. I hope it turns out great!

its a real bummer to find out you can ONLY buy Hyperdip from the DYC website and the shipping cost over half the actual product. I really want to like the Hyperdip product but is Hyperdip worth the extra cost just to black out emblems and exhaust trim?

You have a fair point. It is $19 per can and $12 shipping. Shipping gets cheaper the more I buy. Plasti Dip is fine in my opinion too. It is what we used on our Escalades wheels since Hyperdip wasn’t a thing back then. It is still looking good, just faded a bit. Using tire shine rejuvenates it too

At the time the only option for me to purchase in Canada is ‘Shadow Black’ which is a satin finish. They make gloss black too and some others for the US and Canada now.
Hard to say. Personally I think it would hold up, but keeping it clean during the road salt months might be tough. Applying when it is humid seems to be the biggest issues people have. The good news is it is temporary and doesn’t permanently wreck anything.

Thanks. This addressed my concerns before hyperdipping.
