Sick. I came into the knife scene after the PM2 was already a foot hold in the community. I had heard of some of the improvements they made, but never seen one of these. Thanks for sharing!
I came in about 2009 and I’m pretty sure the para 1 was already out of production at that point also. I posted this up on the spyderco forum and got confirmation that it’s one of the first off the line. The number of knives made with the full cutout on the tang was very low. Stoked to have this one!
I've got a regular production version of the Paramilitary 1, with the dlc coated blade. I also have the foliage green g10, d2 blade version. Personally, I never liked the para 2 because the 1 was an iconic knife in my eyes. Something about the blade to handle ratio just made this knife look tough to me. Both of mine are smooth as butter, and lock up like a vault. Great video to show Spyderco history. I guess I know what I'll be carrying tomorrow!😎
I almost always watch your old vids when they pop up in my recommended feed. Your perspective and wealth of info has been very much missed in this community. Would love to see you make some new material! Hope all is well
Thanks man. I think about making videos from time to time but then I stop myself because I feel like I don’t have anything new to say. There’s so many voices out there now!
So happy your Tannerite video showed up in my feed, I thought you had stopped making videos because I haven't seen one for a year or two. Come to find out somehow notifications had been changed to "Personalized." I corrected that to "all" pronto, glad to see you're still here!
Dam that cool! I use to have a para a while ago. I remember i use to get a hot spot from where bottom part of the handel handel kicks out. sweet piece of history though
It’s nice when these rare gems go to someone like you that will truly appreciate them and keep them in pristine condition. I would give my left nut for a new in box Microtech mini socom elite, but I doubt it will ever happen lol.
I’d also love a mini socom elite! I’d love if they made a mini socom delta too. But yeah, I definitely plan on keeping this one pristine. I love historical objects in general, but especially when it’s knife related.
Longtime follower, good to still see you making videos. always wondered what preceded the PM2. Thanks for sharing! Do you still have your Southard flipper?
It’s got jimping up top, it’s just very coarse teeth. If you’ve ever seen sand tires on a dune buggy, the treads are like big scoops. That’s what the jimping is like.
Ha! That’s one I wish i hadn’t sold. Glad you’re getting some use out of it though. Thanks for checking in brother! Plan on getting back to making videos with regularity.
I think I've owned like 3 paramilitary 1's over the years... Ive yet to own a para 2. I dont know why but I just prefer the 1 even tho Ive never handled a 2. Only bad thing is if you need something replaced on the 1 spyderco does not have any parts available.
Are you still around ? Knife community needs you here on UA-cam! It's nothing but Bs about how smooth your blade drops nowadays 🤣 nothing about steel chemistry, different techniques, etc. It's out there but not like you did it !
So different that it’s almost foreign, right? We have to remember that it’s 16 years old though. A lot changes in that time! At least for spydero. I know some companies who haven’t changed a thing in that time.
It’s so hard for me to make a video now. Every time I think about making one I just feel like I have nothing to say worth recording. There’s so many good knife channels now that I probably don’t have anything worth adding to the community.
Just realized you can hear my 7 month old son cracking up in the background. Lol. Hopefully it’s not too distracting.
I'm not really a knife guy but love all your sharpening videos. Any additionl videos are appreciated.
I didn't even know these existed. Really cool to see!
I’m glad you got things right and you’re back making videos.
Thanks man.
Definitely a nice piece, great find.
Well that's pretty cool. Thank you for sharing some history!
Thanks man! It’s pretty neat.
Never would of started hand sharpening 7 years ago if it wasnt for you. Your tutorials still today are the best out there.
That’s awesome. Hope you’re having fun sharpening! Thanks for the kind words.
@@jdavis882 Been very much enjoying it. Find sharpening infinitely relaxing.

It's beautiful
Great to see, not too many videos on these
Cool knife. Enjoyed the video.

Interesting! That video seems to have found its way into a lot of people’s feed for some reason.
Cool knife, thanks for the video 😎👍
I love this design! It’s like a mini military!
That was exactly the design philosophy!
That's awesome. I have never seen one of those.

Pretty cool blade. Never saw one before.
Very nice!
Wow and I thought regular PM1s all looked like mismash prototypes.
Thanks for sharing

Very interesting with the no detent

Hey haven't seen you upload in a while, how's things going?
Still carry my m390 pm2 I bought from you like 5 years ago man. Hope all is well with ya

What do you think one is worth now days? I have one just like this.. same cut out, no detent ball, black screws on the clip and original box.
Really no clue at all! If you find out let me know!
Well shit my fault just saw that you had posted this video lol. Hope everything is all good.
Could you do the metall finger flicker of otun I know it's not a knife but it is really interesting but it's not really known
The firstborn son of the Spyderco Military. The true heir.

What are you up to these days?
Not much really! I still check the channel and respond to comments, just not posting videos. Crazy that people still watch. It’s awesome!
wait...you still make videos?
I do from time to time.

Still here man! You’re right, it has changed….a lot. Not for the better in my opinion.
Bro you back from the dead? lol I thought they ran you out of town lol
Been here all along, just not making videos. I plan to start back, though!
Are u ready to face the allegations jDavis ?
Everyone has been paid back for years. Like almost a decade. Move on.
You still alive or just scared
Scared of what exactly? Not sure what you mean.
Clon
Are you trying to say clone? If so, this isn’t a clone. Sal Glesser himself has seen this knife and dated it for me.
If I saw that in the wild I'd laugh about how fake it looks

7 to 9 videos a week huh? Well buddy it’s been over 3 years now sooooooo?
