Hear, hear. Over the years it has, for me, only grown in stature. I had the song on an early mix CD someone had given me and a coworker asked me if she could borrow it to 'rip' the song from the CD. At the time, July of 2002, before I had gotten my first computer, I did not understand how she was going to do this. My genuine befuddlement must have been precious/entertaining to bystanders. His playing was awesome. Moonlight is a very complicated song for anyone to play. It’s fast and involves various instruments where the musicians have to be exceptionally good. It’s not one of those songs that can be easily copied. I’m glad to have seen this interview. He seems like a sincere man. Thanks for putting it on UA-cam.
This Dude really made the song Moonlight Feels Right made the song so nice by his solo in the middle . RIP . That song will always remind me of Ocean City MD in the 70's .
Robert "Bo" Wagner was the nicest guy ...unbelievable...Incredible interview...I'm so grateful. He was so great ...and so humble... He even said that his teacher was better than him.
I remember seeing these guys on Midnight special. The song was going great then the marimba solo came around. I said OMG! Where the hell did this guy come from? This guy was jumping from one end of the marimba to the other and pulling this sublime solo. I was blown out of my socks. That solo alone was worth the price of the show for me.

Very good interview of a virtuoso on the marimba. All the questions I would have asked he answered fully. To pull off such an awesome jazzful solo on the first take after learning the chord structure shows that Bo Wagner was a genius and virtuoso. He got a lot of credit in some circles, but there should have been many more circles.

As an "old" metal drummer, from the mid 80's until the early 90's, this guys playing has always stuck in my head. I loved Starbuck as a kid back in the 70's; along with ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Queen and so many others. Moonlight was one of my ultimate favorite songs as a kid. And back then you were at the mercy of whatever the radio played. THANKFULLY, I was able to get the 45 of this song, before even it disappeared from the shelves! It's so cool to know what followed in the careers of good people like Bo. Sadly, he's gone now. But he still lives on in his talent. And as the Righteous Brothers said; "If there's a rock and roll Heaven, well you know they've got a hell of a band."

Since I had just been graduated from U.S.C., somehow the subject came up quickly (I probably said I was looking for work or something). He asked what I had studied. Psychology, but I really liked music classes while I was there. I took jazz piano with a guy named Lloyd Hebert. He said that he had played in bands through the years, one of note, "Starbuck." I'm sure he saw the look of shock on my face, and the look of adoration for what he had done with that song. It was and always has been one of the most special moments of music for me. I just love that solo. I'm so lucky to have accidentally met him. I'll never forget it.
I love the story of you meeting him, what a stroke of luck and not even knowing you were talking with 1 of the greatest mirambas soloists of all time, hope you got a picture taken with him as well as an autograph. That is a once in a lifetime memory you'll never forget. I am so happy that this happened to you. Sincerely Thomas Ryan jr.

I said, that's funny because one of my favorite songs is by a band with the same name. It was from the 70's, "Moonlight Feels Right." I asked him if he knew of that particular Starbuck band, still not thinking it would be the same band. He said that it was that Starbuck. At that point, I was already feeling faint and nervous. I told him that I LOVED the Xylophone solo, whomever played that. He said it was actually marimbas, and that it was he who played them. I'm sure he saw the look of shock on my face, and the look of adoration for what he had done with that song.
