I love the new Daily Challenge feature in osu! It’s a fantastic idea that brings the community together. However, even though it's only day 2 of the feature, we’re already seeing mixed feedback: new players are finding the maps too hard, while more experienced players find them too easy. I’ve heard suggestions for a division system based on Trackmania's system, but while those ideas work well for a racing game, they don’t translate as effectively to a rhythm game like osu!. I propose using a player’s recommended star difficulty as their “division.” This way, every player would get the difficulty of the map that is closest to their recommended star rating. New players would get the lower star ratings, and experienced players would get the higher star difficulties. This system would also allow new players to achieve top 10% finishes in their division, rather than having to compete against the top players of the game. Overall, it would make the Daily Challenge more fair and fun for everyone. This is still not a perfect solution because depending on the map that is picked, the highest star difficulty might still be just 4 stars. In this case everyone at or above 4 stars would be in the same "division", but I think it's a step in the right direction.
I like the idea of having scaling difficulty across the week, however i think having maybe 2 or even 3 songs a day that are a couple stars apart may make each day feel nicer, as weekend only players may only have the option to play high star maps
i was really hoping for the daily challenge to be in every mode. having seperate maps for taiko/catch/mania would really be nice, since not everyone plays standard
Honestly feel like there should be different divisions to this similar to how trackmania does it. Instead of playing one diff of a mapset over and over, you should be able to move up a "division" (go up in the mapsets difficulty) once you full combo the difficulty you're playing.
maybe not fc, it just sounds like a slog to have to fc multiple low star maps to get into someone’s comfortable star range. I saw someone else mention this but I think it would be better to just have multiple difficulties open
I think players should be asked to their prefered starrating at the start of each daily beatmap. Basically letting them choose what "division" or difficulty they want to play. This way, All days of the week are fun for players of differnt skilllevel. Each map of the day would then need to have say, a 3* 4* 5* and 6* difficulty. Within each of these players would play and compete like the system you have already setup. This way, the streaksystem would also be more fun, as you can play maps on your own skill level, each day of the week and dont get bored playing too low difficulty, or get annoying by not being able to play the higher ones. I hope that makes sense. Trying to reference something similar to trackmanias division system, letting players of more similar skill play with and against one another, rather than forcing players of all skill level to play the same 3* map. In anycase though. Love that map of the day is happening and i cant wait so see where it is going
the difficulty rising with the next day of the week isn't a good idea in my opinion. This will result in people who want to participate EVERYDAY incapable of doing so. The best option is adding maps with multiple difficulties, and adding an option to choose one of the difficulties you want. Overall, i like the DC, its nice.
Having multiple difficulties kinda ruins the idea of a challenge. If players are upset about not being able to participate because they are new to the game, it gives them something to work towards. Not everything in the game is available to new players, and if we dumb down the system too much to accommodate for everyone, it takes away from the fun of improving.
I disagree, the main point of daily challenges is the seeing yourself improve with the beatmaps you play each week, it would give some meaning to the leaderboards and the day/week streak too. But ngl it would be cool if we put a 9* map to see who can pass it in a day lmao
@@k3ttledrumI think it would be pretty ridiculous for a feature such as "daily challenge" to only be accessible to essentially 200k out of >10m players. Considering the time it takes to be able to play 5 stars pretty ok (it can take years) it really doesn't make sense to gatekeep that on skill. It makes more sense to have difficulty tiers.
You can't really call that a "daily challenge" then and it's more like a "random beatmap selector". Some players want an actual challenge and those players range from noobs to pros. The current setup addresses all of those players. If you're a noob that can only play 3 to 4 stars, then just play the first to third day. If you're a veteran, just play fifth to seventh day. If you want to play everyday, then why not play them even if it's way above your comfort zone? If you can't pass them, then just strive to improve until you can pass them. I think the current setup encourages improvement to players that are lacking the skills to play all the maps throughout the week.
Love the idea of beatmap of the day in Osu!. I would like to suggest a format similar to that of Trackmania, where players compete in real time against each other in different divisions, and where only the bottom most performing players drop out each round.
If you do decide to make that community goal a feature, another stat that might be fun to add is a counter for each time you contribute to a community goal that is successfully passed (100M Community goal, contribute 700k score, goal is reached, gain a tick on the counter).
Man, dan courses (like in IIDX) would still be such a good addition alongside this. Would spotlight FA songs and maps and I can imagine it'd be popular if you got a profile badge for the highest course you've cleared
"The idea is that we'll get the spotlight team to come in and take it over- -if the spotlight team still exists.. so it's kind of undetermined now." THIS STUFF IS SO FUNNY TO ME
i'd personally love for the leaderboards to have the leaderboard consist of or "scroll" to people your rank, so that you can feel like you're competing on a level playing field. i worry the daily challenge will just be full of top rank players, and you won't have a spot on the leaderboard. that's my problem with many beatmaps as a whole, where the leaderboard is already saturated with players, so you don't have a chance to see your climb upwards. (kinda rambling but yeah that's my thoughts)
I'd like to share some ideas for a few minor features and changes: - A toggle to "lock universal offset" that prevents the audio offset slider from being moved while in the settings. Very annoying when it happens and you may not remember the offset you were using. I haven't seen anyone complain about this but it happens to me all the time, both in stable and in lazer. - When spamming keys in song select, if no map with a matching name is found, the music stops. I think this should match the stable behavior, where the music just keeps playing, because sometimes it's just fun to tap the keys to the music, even while not playing a map, dunno if I'm the only one who does this. - When searching for a map and multiple sets match the search, lazer immediately jumps to the nearest result and the song is changed. I personally would prefer if the previous song kept playing, like it happens on stable. - In a previous video it was mentioned that sorting by "date added" will sort maps based on the date they were added in stable, this just isn't true for me; i'm not sure if i did something wrong, but the maps i added the longest time ago are somewhat at the end of the list, but it's nowhere near ordered correctly. I tried deleting all maps and re-importing them from the setup wizard, but the result is the same. - The possibility to choose ascending or descending sorting in song select. - When using the hamburger menu in the "now playing" tab of the menu bar (F6), if you close the tab without closing the hamburger menu, it will show up again upon reopening the now playing tab. I think it should close itself because it causes big frame drops (at least for me).
i thought this would be a thing more like cup of the day from trackmania. how i imagined this will be: each day there is a map (ofc) that players can play in like a big multi lobby where a lobby starts every 1-2 hours 24/7 1st when the lobby starts, players need to choose which difficulty to play (players can only compete in a difficulty once a day, so if you'd like you could compete in the 5* diff in the 1st hour then in the 6* diff in the second hour) 2nd after everyone made their choice of difficulty, the lobby starts by players trying the map 2-3 times, then depending how they did on the practise they get placed to a lobby where similarly scored players battle it out battle royale style. at the end of the day all of the scores from all lobbies would be compared and the highest score in each difficulty would win.
the problem with this is you may still want to play the map after fcing to get more score with mods or with better acc, so tracking that stat could deincentivise doing that
I think it would be a good idea if there were several difficulties each day with set mods (like HDHR on one day and then FL on the next one) so that players with different skillsets could have a chance to compete for high rankings instead of getting humiliated every day.
Having multiple difficulty tiers each day would be the best in my opinion. Which tier you have to do could either be a choice of the player (I'm not really a fan of that) or based on your rank (would be at least more fair) or this "level" thing that osu has on each profile.
First of all I love the idea of daily challanges and I'll probably be playing it every day but there are few things I would change. I would allow mod selection. It could be limited to just basic mods like half time, double time, hidden, hard rock etc. but it would give players who are obviously too good for the map to up the difficulty and make even higher score or lower rank players a way to make a map easier. I think it was great in Beatmap Spotlights. I would also add live stat that tells you either what is the number of people who submitted the score or straight up percentage the player is in if someone is aiming for top 10% for example. I have a few more ideas for the stats: - avarage % over for example a month, so people would have a reason to improve their scores even when they FC with lower acc or something (generally more stats over a recent period of time would be cool I think) - counting number of scores over 1,000,000 - you could also give players a list of stats so they can chose which ones should be displayed in their profile (if for example someone doesn't want daily streak to be displayed and leave only weekly streak they can hide it) Also there is a bug when after tapping your score you try to scroll left on horizontal leaderboard. It starts to load scores indefinitely.
I really like this feature, but personally I'm not a fan of the streak. Extrinsic motivation like that always runs the risk of making the game feel like a chore. On days where I don't feel like playing, losing the streak would just make me feel a little bit worse about it. If you keep it, please add an option to hide it for myself. The number of top x% placements is cool tho :) Maybe "best ever placement" and "best placement in the last 7/30 days" would be interesting too.
that's okay, you can ignore the streak numbers and focus on the others :D just like you ignore the fact your ranked score isn't as high as other people's. or the fact you don't have every new medal. or your rank falling off the longer you don't play.
I really think there should just be diff spread. The reasoning being, a big part of keeping people engaged with anything is providing a regular way to participate and rotating difficulties kind of actively works against this. Imagine higher ranked players who will only have fun playing the harder days, so they wait all week to play and.... they don't like the map, now they have to wait all week to play again, the same thing goes with pretty much everyone. For the most part, players are only going to enjoy playing maps with a more narrow range of difficulty and if they don't like it, it's over. Not to mention if you get unlucky and you can't play the days of the week the maps are within your skill range this is just a dead feature.
Maybe a weekly challenge would fit better? With many maps to choose from? Or simply choose only mapsets with a wide diff spread and automatically pre select the appropriate difficulty for you?
Kinda annoys me that there isnt multiple leagues per mode, as a primary mania player it just is annoying to get the take me downs from all the updates, though of course i do understand mania is not the main priority and its not a game breaker or anything.
hey peppy, one thing i want to see in lazer is a sort of extension of the results screen that shows your global ranking increase in a way that takes more of a center screen place, currently when you get pp, a small number for your rank in the top right is increased and it feels really underwhelming (especially if you score a new top play), imo it would be much more incouraging and rewarding for the player if it was hyped up more, eg. some confetti from the sides of your screen if you get a new top play and a drum roll for the rank increase
Great! I love the idea of a daily challenge, now I have a reason to boot the game daily which will probably make me play more regularly aswell, really nice, also good that week streak exists for players who cant/doesnt want to play daily!
Okay daily challenges is the best thing added to osu in a long time im saying it now The chat was so wholesome and fun, and i like how the 1st map was easy and accessiable! I got a 94% fc lol im really bad but i had a lot of fun!! GOOD JOB :D
I believe that having the daily maps increase in difficulty until the end of the week is a great idea, and helps engage all types of players. I'm exited to see how the community utilises this new addition!
Something like the Beatmap Spotlights profile badges would be a great incentive because right now it feels even too bare bones for players to even care enough to give suggestions. (I wish beatmap spotlights will come back soon, or maybe the profile rank badges can even develop into a fully fleged ELO system with 1v1 matchmaking and battle royale mode, but I'm getting ahead of myself.) Also I hope free mods will be available in the future, because as a hidden player who can't read approach circles, I had to adjust myself to reading no mod again 😢
I really love this feature and I think it can become a great addition to the game with a few changes like; allowing a spread of difficulties OR let us apply mods. The issue you run into now is on both higher and lower end of players needing to wait on specific days to participate. Letting us add mods can make the lower difficulties more interesting (HR-HD-DT-NC) to experienced players and also make the higher difficulties try-able (NF-HT) for lesser experienced players. I understand wanting the map shine by itself in its purest form (NM) but to make a new feature potentially limiting would be sad, specially if you call it "daily challenge" and not everyone can participate on it daily in its current state. Perhaps a "weekly challenge" would be cool as well. A longer map or just a really challenging map. High star or very tech. One specific map a week that you have the whole week to try.
I LOVE THIS FEATURE!!! It'd be fun to allow freemod leaderboards, possibly as ways to integrate new mods into the rankings. Taking a couple days (every once in a while) to test how Lazer mods could work on freemod leaderboards is a good solution, and keeps people excited for Lazer's progress. P.S. I think EVERYONE wants variable speed DT/HT to be on leaderboards. I think expanding daily challenge to other gamemodes/rulesets is also a great idea.
In some of the games that I've played the top 1% ranking just ends up with all perfect scores and at a point it just became a race on who played earlier in the day
hi this is an amazing start but i feel like the reason while people wait for cup of the day is the tournament system. i feel like adding this and having people play in a group and get eliminated based on lowest score until its a 1v1 of 2 people as all the other participants spectate would be hyyype
I'm sure a lot of people wanted it and will play it, but there's a reason you've never heard of any other game prioritizing new features from youtube video comments... put out an actual survey or poll with an in-game banner
@@HMPerson2 that doesn't make picking features from youtube comments any more effective. You're just going to get people who already play lazer, are interested in the updates, and happened to comment early, so had more time to get likes on their comments. @@DeanHerbertMooCow I never claimed people weren't! : ) just that there are other things that would've been higher priority if you had gotten more representative feedback. i'm sure beatmap of the day would've still been in the top 15. thinking of this alternative where there is this minimum pass value-ish start from lowest difficulty, when you pass the value next difficulty will be unlocked, repeat till the highest difficulty... and as for the leaderboard there will be the current diff leaderboard and total score leaderboard. much love for the update
Initial suggestion: events in the events section should not have a lifetime because it is often empty or only showing few lines Experience: Just updated and gave it a try. I think just the fact that I would never download and play this map normally is enough to make this a great idea. I love it
It would be cool if you used newly ranked beatmaps (ranked that day, or that week) for the daily challenge. Aside from boosting their popularity, it could be a good way of promoting unique maps that otherwise may have been overlooked.
this was really fun and i enjoyed it a ton (*: a couple personal ideas i figured i would provide: - i know you guys wrote this down already, but having a friend lb would be massive; the current lb is more or less useless since it was filled out within an hour lol - an alternative idea for the leaderboard, if it's not impossible / if it would work out cleanly, would be maybe to just show everyone who has an fc and everyone who has an ss / max score. i think it'd be cool to see the whole list of people who have gotten such a score on the map. if not that, just seeing the number of people who have such scores would probably be good - seeing current requirements to get 50% and 10% is probably good for people who are specifically trying to keep that up - a few people have mentioned that in the event people aren't big fans of the way difficulties scale right now that you guys could just have multiple "tiers" where if you do well enough on one map you can play a higher difficulty map in the set. i thought this might be an interesting idea if you can get good maps for it; you can still have the "starting" map's sr increase every day, albeit keep it a bit lower, and you can maybe use the 7th day as a single, particularly hard map. there's a chance this would limit the maps you can actually pick, but i think picking maps that start at 3* and only go up to ~4* would still be fine for people, since around the 4* range is when it becomes harder to get leaderboards like today's - one thing i really really want to see is interesting mods for these maps! freemod was mentioned a lot in chat today, but only because the leaderboard had already capped itself, and freemod would have been the only way around that. there should definitely a few freemod maps within a week, but i think most of the maps should be forcemod since it opens more interesting challenge opportunities. ez maps, hd reading, hr precision kind of stuff, or having dt maps in the challenge, or you could even have people play some maps with some of the new lazer mods. i think this is where the mode has the most potential, since having these extremely unique challenges on certain days will bring people back to play more diverse things, which is a massive positive for the mode i am definitely looking forward to doing this as many days as i can, really enjoying the mode and especially the chat so far. and amazing first song pick 🔥
Suggestion for the "score breakdown" ui add at least one number on the y axis as a label so the bar graph has meaning OR add a total players/plays number somewhere (I don't even know if the bars are counting every play or just players' max scores)
the one thing I need is to allow us to use mods on the daily challenge. mod multipliers may mess with the leaderboard scores but it makes it so higher rank players are able to play the 3* or 4* maps in a way that's closer to their skill level which I think many would find more fun than being forced to play them nm
Make it like, 1st day 1st map and then each day you add one map to the pool, so like that if you want you can play all the map the weekend So more like "Beatmaps of the week" Like that casual player can play the easy maps the weekend (if they cant at the start of the week) And you don't need to add like 3 maps a day to please everyone (since it would be too much for player who want to play all and for chooser) Also please some day add map with required mod, like in tournament
I think they should take inspiration from geometry dash where the daily challenge maps are easier and then There's a weekly demon map that's really high in difficulty but you have 7 days to attempt that
Agree it kinda feels off to have lower skilled players forced to play a high star map which they probably can't FC or even pass. (If they want to play the Daily Challenge every day).
the only thing i would really want to see is when you speed up a song with dt and mod modifications and dont have it on 1.5 speed, it would still be ranked. a good start to do so if you cant do all at once would be ranking every 0.1 speed increase. 2. time im asking
I asked in the previous osu Lazer update already but haven't gotten a response yet: Icouldn't stop noticing that this seems to be the "track of the day" format instead of the requested "Cup of the day" format. Will that be implemented in the future? Facing off on a leaderboard just does not have the same satisfaction as being able to compete directly with X people does.
I think this should be a weekly challenge instead of daily, with all difficulties available from the start, then all players have something to play every day if they choose

🤞
@@DeanHerbertMooCowcontent for mania players? scrupulous! magnificent! revolutionary!
also taiko and catch but i don’t play them
Honestly feel like there should be different divisions to this similar to how trackmania does it.
I tried lazer again after around 6 months and it’s awesome, it runs miles better than before. Congrats 🎉
the difficulty rising with the next day of the week isn't a good idea in my opinion. This will result in people who want to participate EVERYDAY incapable of doing so. The best option is adding maps with multiple difficulties, and adding an option to choose one of the difficulties you want. Overall, i like the DC, its nice.
skill issue

"The idea is that we'll get the spotlight team to come in and take it over-

@@Aquana01 they should have me do it
THIS IS AWESOME I’m a lazer main now, can’t wait for more updates
I love how it's taking inspiration from project prism since that was a fun thing to participate in even though I don't play taiko often
Yep, doing daily makes me feel like I'm playing laser for real, good luck, everyone
i'd personally love for the leaderboards to have the leaderboard consist of or "scroll" to people your rank, so that you can feel like you're competing on a level playing field. i worry the daily challenge will just be full of top rank players, and you won't have a spot on the leaderboard. that's my problem with many beatmaps as a whole, where the leaderboard is already saturated with players, so you don't have a chance to see your climb upwards. (kinda rambling but yeah that's my thoughts)
I'd like to share some ideas for a few minor features and changes:
- A toggle to "lock universal offset" that prevents the audio offset slider from being moved while in the settings.
I think it should close itself because it causes big frame drops (at least for me).
i thought this would be a thing more like cup of the day from trackmania. how i imagined this will be: each day there is a map (ofc) that players can play in like a big multi lobby where a lobby starts every 1-2 hours 24/7
1st when the lobby starts, players need to choose which difficulty to play (players can only compete in a difficulty once a day, so if you'd like you could compete in the 5* diff in the 1st hour then in the 6* diff in the second hour)
2nd after everyone made their choice of difficulty, the lobby starts by players trying the map 2-3 times, then depending how they did on the practise they get placed to a lobby where similarly scored players battle it out battle royale style.
at the end of the day all of the scores from all lobbies would be compared and the highest score in each difficulty would win.
yea i agree
Dude this would be SO fun lmfaooo
Osu is not a racing game
I think a cool stat to track would be something like a sight-read tracker. So basically FC'ing the challenge on your first try
sounds cool
the problem with this is you may still want to play the map after fcing to get more score with mods or with better acc, so tracking that stat could deincentivise doing that
should be limited to nm/diff increasing mods then
@@totallywaffles_ If they play the map again it's not their "first try".
there should definitely be an extra stat for the amount of top 1 or top 50 on maps
Which tier you have to do could either be a choice of the player (I'm not really a fan of that) or based on your rank (would be at least more fair) or this "level" thing that osu has on each profile.
it could also be based on your performance on the last daily challenge you played
Leagues for daily challenges, perhaps?
other gamemodes too👀👀
First of all I love the idea of daily challanges and I'll probably be playing it every day but there are few things I would change.
I have a few more ideas for the stats:
- avarage % over for example a month, so people would have a reason to improve their scores even when they FC with lower acc or something (generally more stats over a recent period of time would be cool I think)
- counting number of scores over 1,000,000
- you could also give players a list of stats so they can chose which ones should be displayed in their profile (if for example someone doesn't want daily streak to be displayed and leave only weekly streak they can hide it)
Also there is a bug when after tapping your score you try to scroll left on horizontal leaderboard. It starts to load scores indefinitely.
This has made me the most hype I've ever been for an osu! feature!
Thank you, Peppy, Spaceman, and the rest of the dev team for all your work!
I appreciate being able to do "ppd" to access it on keyboard
Thank you, Dean and pishifat
daily dose of osu beatmaps
I really like this feature, but personally I'm not a fan of the streak. Extrinsic motivation like that always runs the risk of making the game feel like a chore. On days where I don't feel like playing, losing the streak would just make me feel a little bit worse about it. If you keep it, please add an option to hide it for myself.
The number of top x% placements is cool tho :)
Maybe "best ever placement" and "best placement in the last 7/30 days" would be interesting too.
that's okay, you can ignore the streak numbers and focus on the others :D just like you ignore the fact your ranked score isn't as high as other people's. or the fact you don't have every new medal. or your rank falling off the longer you don't play.
if it bothers you that much, making a custom css for the website is an option with a browser extension
Kinda annoys me that there isnt multiple leagues per mode, as a primary mania player it just is annoying to get the take me downs from all the updates, though of course i do understand mania is not the main priority and its not a game breaker or anything.
we will build, a system, from scratch, together
Wish daily challenge had other gamemodes too.
0:37 hey wait a minute...
hey peppy, one thing i want to see in lazer is a sort of extension of the results screen that shows your global ranking increase in a way that takes more of a center screen place, currently when you get pp, a small number for your rank in the top right is increased and it feels really underwhelming (especially if you score a new top play), imo it would be much more incouraging and rewarding for the player if it was hyped up more, eg. some confetti from the sides of your screen if you get a new top play and a drum roll for the rank increase
please do this with mania too

Great! I love the idea of a daily challenge, now I have a reason to boot the game daily which will probably make me play more regularly aswell, really nice, also good that week streak exists for players who cant/doesnt want to play daily!
menu is still a little bit hard to use due to iconstantly twitching buttons and their high amplitude
Okay daily challenges is the best thing added to osu in a long time im saying it now
The chat was so wholesome and fun, and i like how the 1st map was easy and accessiable! I got a 94% fc lol im really bad but i had a lot of fun!! GOOD JOB :D
me hoping they fix the mania star rating system
right now it values dense patterns far more than difficult tech patterns
I believe that having the daily maps increase in difficulty until the end of the week is a great idea, and helps engage all types of players. I'm exited to see how the community utilises this new addition!
it would be cool if you got a badge for completing a certain number of beatmaps, for example a badge for completing 100 beatmaps daily
Add a section on your profile that says how many 1# spots you have gotten on the daily thing.
Something like the Beatmap Spotlights profile badges would be a great incentive because right now it feels even too bare bones for players to even care enough to give suggestions. (I wish beatmap spotlights will come back soon, or maybe the profile rank badges can even develop into a fully fleged ELO system with 1v1 matchmaking and battle royale mode, but I'm getting ahead of myself.)
Also I hope free mods will be available in the future, because as a hidden player who can't read approach circles, I had to adjust myself to reading no mod again 😢
A funny way to implement community goals would be to make them like events and include a storyline. This is the chance to add osu lore

mania beatmap of the day
I really love this feature and I think it can become a great addition to the game with a few changes like; allowing a spread of difficulties OR let us apply mods.
Wow, it's been 5 months, feels like just YESTERDAY...
Going through the comments, its pretty visible that much more implementation of certain "things" are needed to truly make it more engaging.
They should add a top 1% or 0.1%
mark
Maybe a top 1 too
In some of the games that I've played the top 1% ranking just ends up with all perfect scores and at a point it just became a race on who played earlier in the day
hi this is an amazing start but i feel like the reason while people wait for cup of the day is the tournament system. i feel like adding this and having people play in a group and get eliminated based on lowest score until its a 1v1 of 2 people as all the other participants spectate would be hyyype
I'm sure a lot of people wanted it and will play it, but there's a reason you've never heard of any other game prioritizing new features from youtube video comments... put out an actual survey or poll with an in-game banner
most other games also aren't open source
@@HMPerson2 that doesn't make picking features from youtube comments any more effective. You're just going to get people who already play lazer, are interested in the updates, and happened to comment early, so had more time to get likes on their comments. Every website with this kind of voting has an "early comment meta". It's very far from representative of what the community most wants.
a lot of people are enjoying this system already, so i'm not sure how valid this take is!
@@DeanHerbertMooCow I never claimed people weren't! : ) just that there are other things that would've been higher priority if you had gotten more representative feedback. i'm sure beatmap of the day would've still been in the top 15. If you wanted fully representative feedback I guess you'd have already run the in-game banner though so it is what it is!

Did Osu just become Trackmania or something? Da frick?
taiko daily challenges when
Hello Dear Peppy, Pishifat and Osu Team,
i really like the idea of daily challenges and to improve the friendly competitive side of the osu community!
Throughout i have thought of maybe a seasonal reward implementing the same strategy of now the newest content the daily Challenges where People might get rewards like for an example: temporary Badges for being first Place in the seasonal competition or a Profile Tag or even an Osu Medal.
Anyways, this is just a random brainstormed idea of mine and i really appreciate your work and have high hopes of Osu! Lazer in the future!
Have a nice day!
(i apologize if my english isn't as good as i might think it is lol)
thinking of this alternative where there is this minimum pass value-ish start from lowest difficulty, when you pass the value next difficulty will be unlocked, repeat till the highest difficulty... and as for the leaderboard there will be the current diff leaderboard and total score leaderboard. much love for the update
Initial suggestion: events in the events section should not have a lifetime because it is often empty or only showing few lines
Experience: Just updated and gave it a try. I think just the fact that I would never download and play this map normally is enough to make this a great idea. I love it
It would be cool if you used newly ranked beatmaps (ranked that day, or that week) for the daily challenge. Aside from boosting their popularity, it could be a good way of promoting unique maps that otherwise may have been overlooked.
me waiting another 4 years for osu mania to be an option:
You should put first place finisher counter.
once a month having a themed week, maybe like old maps or feature artist themed would be cool.
i think it would be cool to see how many total challenges you completed
this was really fun and i enjoyed it a ton (*: a couple personal ideas i figured i would provide:
- i know you guys wrote this down already, but having a friend lb would be massive; the current lb is more or less useless since it was filled out within an hour lol
- an alternative idea for the leaderboard, if it's not impossible / if it would work out cleanly, would be maybe to just show everyone who has an fc and everyone who has an ss / max score. i think it'd be cool to see the whole list of people who have gotten such a score on the map. if not that, just seeing the number of people who have such scores would probably be good
- seeing current requirements to get 50% and 10% is probably good for people who are specifically trying to keep that up
- a few people have mentioned that in the event people aren't big fans of the way difficulties scale right now that you guys could just have multiple "tiers" where if you do well enough on one map you can play a higher difficulty map in the set. i thought this might be an interesting idea if you can get good maps for it; you can still have the "starting" map's sr increase every day, albeit keep it a bit lower, and you can maybe use the 7th day as a single, particularly hard map. there's a chance this would limit the maps you can actually pick, but i think picking maps that start at 3* and only go up to ~4* would still be fine for people, since around the 4* range is when it becomes harder to get leaderboards like today's
- one thing i really really want to see is interesting mods for these maps! freemod was mentioned a lot in chat today, but only because the leaderboard had already capped itself, and freemod would have been the only way around that. there should definitely a few freemod maps within a week, but i think most of the maps should be forcemod since it opens more interesting challenge opportunities. ez maps, hd reading, hr precision kind of stuff, or having dt maps in the challenge, or you could even have people play some maps with some of the new lazer mods. i think this is where the mode has the most potential, since having these extremely unique challenges on certain days will bring people back to play more diverse things, which is a massive positive for the mode
i am definitely looking forward to doing this as many days as i can, really enjoying the mode and especially the chat so far. and amazing first song pick 🔥
Can't wait for the time taiko daily challenges are a thing!
Suggestion for the "score breakdown" ui add at least one number on the y axis as a label so the bar graph has meaning OR add a total players/plays number somewhere (I don't even know if the bars are counting every play or just players' max scores)
i'm waiting for mania beatmap of the day
for more competitive stats I believe #1 on a map would be fun to do, just makes that daily challenge more 'needing' to get on the leaderboard.
thanks for this update team
the one thing I need is to allow us to use mods on the daily challenge. mod multipliers may mess with the leaderboard scores but it makes it so higher rank players are able to play the 3* or 4* maps in a way that's closer to their skill level which I think many would find more fun than being forced to play them nm
sotarks this is your time to shine
Make it like, 1st day 1st map and then each day you add one map to the pool, so like that if you want you can play all the map the weekend
So more like "Beatmaps of the week"
Like that casual player can play the easy maps the weekend (if they cant at the start of the week)
And you don't need to add like 3 maps a day to please everyone (since it would be too much for player who want to play all and for chooser)
Also please some day add map with required mod, like in tournament
Weekly Challenge: 5 Stars+ maps
Allow the option to add mods :)
I hope you will bring other game modes into the daily beatmap challenge, too. I have a skill issue in standard.
Or at least let us play with HalfTime
Can we get a leaderboard for who has the biggest daily streak going? I think this would be a great insentive to keep doing this for the long term
the only thing i would really want to see is when you speed up a song with dt and mod modifications and dont have it on 1.5 speed, it would still be ranked. a good start to do so if you cant do all at once would be ranking every 0.1 speed increase. 2. time im asking
I hope they make this for osu!mania
we should bring back osu coin
Wooo yeah baby
another day of peppy trying not to make lazer run better than stable and instead adding more features
this is going to be fun and chaos
Trackmania and osu on the same sentence? I love these games
awesome feature
I asked in the previous osu Lazer update already but haven't gotten a response yet:
Icouldn't stop noticing that this seems to be the "track of the day" format instead of the requested "Cup of the day" format.
Will that be implemented in the future? Facing off on a leaderboard just does not have the same satisfaction as being able to compete directly with X people does.
I think this should be a weekly challenge instead of daily, with all difficulties available from the start, then all players have something to play every day if they choose
