Triplets I have read the answers to the question about triplets and that works unless they are on the last beat of a bar (someone else noted this too). This involves selecting and going to the three dot context measure. On the old version they were a part of the note palette along with “.” For dotted notes and () for notes held but not played. This was very convenient and easy to use. The triplet symbol is not there. For Celtic music triplets are essential.
In Toolbar, click the nine square grid symbol, then the 3 sharps symbol, and click in the measure where change is needed. A key circle appears to choose the key.
FYI - with version 3.1 on my iPad, note values cannot be edited by selecting from the pallette on the left when the on-screen keyboard is visible. Overall I really like this app and the sound quality. It handles really complex multipart MIDI files really well too.
How do you 1. enter grace notes (they are not in my notes pallet), and 2. how do you enter a triplet with a quarter note value with 2 8th notes and 2 16th notes. EESS. When I try to enter the first 16th note, it automatically starts a new group of triplets.
Does anyone know how to have the lyrics alternate between treble clef and bass clef notes? It only seems willing to align with the treble clef. --Norma
First you have to write the duplets normally and then select the three (or any number) of notes that you want in triplets, tap the three dots > tools > make triplets. If you have a keyboard, the shortcut is Ctrl+T i think. If you find a better way to do this pls let me know
Hello, I'm a user of Notation. I'm desperately trying to find a way to import XML files on the iPad version. Currently, I can only do it through the app on a computer, which uploads the XML and converts it into Notation. On the iPad, the access to the XML file is not allowed and remains grayed out. Is there a way to accomplish this without using a PC or Mac app? Thanks Nik
--- Very imortant, need to use rests on the 2nd voice to get them where you want them to be on the measure --- Thank you for the videos, without these videos I would have given up using this software. Already gave up 3 times in the past, this time I am getting very predictable results. Steep learning curve, just like the other brands of notation software. Exporting to xml and midi works excellent when importing into other programs. Importing xml and midi into Notion works works excellent (consistant and predictable results)
How do I create a duplicate file and rename? A “save as…” with a version number on the file name. I can’t use notion creatively until I solve this simple mystery of creating multiple progressive versions of the same work.
gotta love how their mobile how to video is clearly done with a mouse and keyboard. ya know, the gear most mobile devices don't have. pretty annoyed I paid for their shitty app.
It's not possible to chosse some cloud like onedrive o google drive to save the projects? I mean, if I want open a project and continuing working it in differents devices
"How do I . . . " is pretty much how every comment on this thread starts. This should tell you what I quickly found: very unintuitive app where anything beyond simply adding notes with duration is very hard to figure out. For instance, how do I change the tempo? Still haven't found in the app to do with tempo! There is a title at the top of the composition. You would think that if you tap on it you could edit the title text. Nope! How do I move from one measure to the next, say to position the play head? Tap? Tap and hold? Nope! What exactly are these little cryptic icons? Hover over with a stylus to get some explanation? Nope! Most mobile or tablet apps, you can mess around in the program and in half an hour figure out how to do most things. Not this one. Meanwhile I can go to MuseScore on a laptop and compose and arrange and do all this stuff 10 times faster. I mean, unless you absolutely HAVE to compose on a tablet for some reason, this is very awkward, slow, half-baked and I could not recommend.
Worst program I have ever tried to use. If support is not offered, at least a good users manual should be offered. I’m trying to get my money back. I’ve wasted several hours trying to make this program work. I guess you get what you pay for. For 15 bucks it isn’t even worth it. 3:07
I’ve being using it for years on iPad and written lots of scores in it, even complicated ones. It is not perfect or a computer substitute but it does its job very very well. A bit of patience at the beginning to get to know it is all that is needed.
How do I add multi-measure rests?
How do I delete measures?
How do you input accidentals using Apple Pencil? handwriting seems to recognize everything but the sharp and flat symbols.

How do you change the key signature?
I think it doesn’t work any longer
In Toolbar, click the nine square grid symbol, then the 3 sharps symbol, and click in the measure where change is needed. A key circle appears to choose the key.
How do you enter the "X" for percussion notation. For example for the Hi-Hat Foot and the Snare Cross-stick.
Hi , how can you change “note heads” for rhythmic notation ?
How to delete measure ? It’s easy to add but not delete.

At 6:10 the display appears to show bass clef and treble note indicated yet the notation didn’t present the notation split.

How do you write in Triplets or a drum swing pattern?

@@PalaHz That’s perfect. Thanks for answering.
You can also set swing in playback too - Shift+S for swing, or go to the Tools Grid>Metronome icon>Swing icon
@@chrisswaffer thanks Chris, I did particularly want a visual representation of it. I now understand how to write it. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@PalaHz Many thanks to your posting. It is a big help. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
