Amy needs to narrate a video where she explains how she'll torture Sam as an April Fools gag

This made me look up what Forrest Gump's distance was. Turns out his hypothetical journey was over 15,000km, with roughly 5 legs across the US. What's crazy, is someone actually recreated this run in real life, and did it in less than a third of the time it took Forrest in the movie. He wrote a book about it called "Becoming Forrest".
Whoah... All I could dream of achieving from that movie was doing stupid shit while listening to Freebird...

I've always been a fan of how they used 'Fortunate Son' (CCR) just as the Huey Helicopters buzz the canopy in the start to the Vietnam scene. Talk about a Military Recruitment Tool...🤨🤔🙈
It's insane that such a mediocre movie has inspired so much. Seems to be the Rolling Stones of cinema
I kind of love that Sam made the decision to be a disembodied voice on HAI and Wendover, and we didn't know Adam or Ben's names until Jetlag, but Amy has inserted herself as the only named character in HAI, and we love her

He can spare one bite of carrot lol
But in what universe is a whole Domino's pizza only 440 cal? Surely even a small one is more than that. And it's less than 2 slices of a large.
Imagine running a meter and saying to yourself, yep, I could use 5 million more of these
They could run from Adelaide to Perth and back. Insane.
Running a meter is pretty easy, if it were that easy the whole way i could definitely run 5 million meters. Unfortunately, my body starts to complain after like 10 to 20 meters
running a meter is like 1 step lol. 1.5 if you're short.
Hi HAI! Can you do a video about the logistics of holding a big marathon? I ran the Chicago Marathon last year and the sheer number of people that take to the streets for 3-6 hours is absolutely insane. NY is the biggest with ~50k runners. It seems like a LOOOOT of work needs to be done to effectively shut down an entire city so some people can tire themselves out, but I’d like to know the exact amount of work required. Not sure if this is something you would do, or if it would be better suited for that handsome guy at Wendover.
Definitely Wendover dude is the better suited person with how much prep there is not just at event level itself, but city overall too. But then again, I heard HAI dude and Wendover dude constantly talk with each other over planes whenever they get chance, so it shouldn't be hard to pass along the idea from one to the other
Well Amy needing to be awake at 5 AM explains why she bought 2 alarm clocks in the previous video.
Some people need multiple alarm clocks to wake up. I bought a 120db alarm clock, then bought a second one when the first wasn't enough.
"the journalistic integrity of a parrot" is a unique and particularly injurious insult
Today at lunch, an extremely out of breath woman jogged up to me. Aparently, I'm meant to comment:
"Give Amy a raise" under this video.
Anyone know what that's about?
2:28 that's Ashrita Furman, the guy that holds the Guinness world record for holding the most Guinness World Records.
So, is that including the record for holding records itself?
Was half expecting him to force Amy to run the race herself
Please sign this petition for Amy to get healthcare insurance. She is very brave, and we need her journalistic integrity
What about a petition to move to a country where she can get free healthcare instead of doesn't have to work for such a tyrannical channel like HAI? I also hear that Wendover has far better work/lice balance.
@@TheEDFLegacyw-work/lice????
How do the logistics for this work? Who pays for it? How do runners manage to run 60 miles a day while sleeping only 6 hours? How do they manage to have 52 days off work and away from their family?
If you're going 4 mph it takes 15 hours to go 60 miles, which seems doable on flat ground (I can walk at 4 mph over distance on the flat and I am not athletically gifted at all). That leaves 8 hours for sleep and 1 hour for other bodily functions... But my joints would be killing me, looks like the cult of knee and hip replacements to me.
You're assuming the runners don't have time off? Or that they might not have jobs... and their family could be participating on the sidelines...
It’s a run by a cult. So money and logistics come from there. As for the runners I figure having that much time means they are in the cult.

I've seen the strava uploads fromt these races, and the map always looks wild because of them running the same loop so many times.
my favorite quirk of running maps is when the gps messes up and it randomly zooms you to a weird corner and then yeets you back on track. mine does it at the park i run in (1km loop) so it looks like i'm just sprinting back and forth across the middle of the field sometimes lmao

Huh. I've eaten at one of those Dominos pizzas.
Also, Sri Chinmoy is a crazy story. One of his disciples was a dude named Fred who went by "Zen Master Rama" who started his own cult where he got cult members to fake their way into computer programming jobs using each other as references, because of Atlantis had better computers, so they could have careers that paid enough to donate more to the cult.
The triple bacon deluxe is actually 1090 calories, not 850. The pizza is also not 440 calories - maybe for a slice
Fun fact: Originally it was three races (700, 1000, and 1300 miles) but in 1996 Sri decided to make the race 2700 miles. The next year he said it was going to be 3100 miles and they decided that was probably enough running. I talk about this race more in depth, going into some of the fastest times, as well as some other extreme races in a video on my channel.

This sounds insane and I kind of want to do it. I've done marathon training before (1000 miles over about 5 months, averaging around 50 miles per week, so not even close to this level) and that was such a beating on my body (and my poor shoes) that I ended up taking almost an entire year off before getting back on the circuit, so I can't even imagine how much this race would destroy a person.
Yay! I get to be the person who points out the misspelled "Wisconson [sic]" at 3:42. See you at the "Every Mistake We Made This Year" video.
I live a 10 minute walk from that high school and didn't know this race existed. Chinmoy has a very nice vegan cafe in the area I would recommend people go to it
y'all made RuneScape agility training real 💀
nahh thats not runescape, if it was runescape you'd fail every other lap and eventually die from running out of hp lol - edit "Agility is the skill of failure"
Amy for Jet Lag when?!
EDIT: Hell yeah!
Okay so I get that these people can somehow get like 6 hours of sleep every day for two months, but how can they afford to not work or do literally anything else for 52 whole days? Then again, if they get free food and a place to sleep then maybe it's not that bad
They have transcended enough already so they don't need a job.
All but one are 40+, so are likely at senior level positions, and most of the racers aren’t American. Better pay relative to cost of living + better PTO allows them to either take time off work or have enough saved up they can miss 2 months. People who can’t afford that simply won’t participate. Pretty simple.

Uh, if the average distance needed per day is 96km and you spend 18 hours per day running that would make the average speed needed be just over 5kmh (3.2mph), which is almost exactly the average preferred walking pace... Sounds very strange.
18 hours is just the stop and start time- as they mentioned in the video the runners make rest stops throughout the day to eat, use the bathroom, change shoes, etc.
@@activatedcharcoal Assuming you eat and drink while walking, walk a bit above the average speed and take only a few 5min bathroom breaks per day, you could walk the entire distance. It's on a flat hard surface, almost ideal for walking.
