If you have an odd degree polynomial there must be at least on real root. Your problem may have something to do with your calculator setting and or flag setting. Try pressing ON-C. This will turn of User mode in case your key is reassigned. You indicated a cubic, is that what you ment or is it bigger. Try doing the STEQ command and then graph you equation.
Hey, I tryed solve the polynomial equation 3X^3+2X^2-X+7 with ZERO comand, and not happens, but using the "NUM SOLVER / solve poly" worked. Your second function that you show in this video, I put in the NUMSOLVER solve poly" and works. You have a explanation of this comportament hp50g with my function?
Why are there so many ways to do exactly the same thing? Solve for X, Isolate the X, Find the Zeros ... I just don't understand. What is the need to create commands with different names just to do exactly the same? Are there things you can do with one command that can’t be done with others?
The reason our instructor likes RPN mode is probably because at some time in the past he used an HP 48 calculator which has only RPN mode.
Yep!
If I do the same for something like.. -x^3 + 30x^2 - 297x + 976, the output is just { }

I know this is two years ago but I had this problem as well. Under flags my “complex” was set to off. Upon checking this flag it started working.

when i hit the x^2 key using equation writer, i don't get the 2 in the exponent, i get sq() do you know how i can change this??
bikesandfrisbees in case anyone is still having this issue, try using the Yx key rather than the x^2 key. That should solve your problem
Wow I like this skin
Do you have to highlight everything in order to make equations and solve them? that looks super annoying.

Some command like SQ and √ are more specific commands while y^x and XROOT are more general.
