Came back to watch this for probably the 30th or 40th time. Still blown away.
If I didnt see this with my own two eyes I wouldnt believe this was possible. This kid absolutely nails every nuance in these songs. The devil is in the details and this kid went into the details and kicked the devil square in the nuts. This is something past amazing. Loss for words here.

Wow, Kent....this is one of the most incredible displays of musicianship I've ever seen, to say nothing at all about arrangement. 25 or 6 to 4 isn't a piece that any musician can approach casually, and you just toss it off with such effortless aplomb.

i went to my first Chicago concert in 1970 54 YEARS AGO guitarist have had fifty years to master Terry Kath's solo, But Kent has Mastered THE HORNS THE DRUMS THE VOCALS AND THE SOLO! Mr. Kath would be amazed! and so am I

Up until now, I have always thought he was right behind Alexandr Misko as the best acoustic guitarist in the world, but after this, I think he may have pushed out to the best position. Not that it matters, it's not really a competition. They are both beyond brilliant and I'm ready to bury my Les Paul in the backyard - again. LOLOL

This is one of the most rocking songs by the best band of its time at the peak of their greatness. It should be impossible for any one musician on any one instrument to play it this well. First he perfectly evokes the really tight rhythm section, then has his guitar sing the vocal melody with just the right feel and phrasing, and with all of that going on, he still plays the guitar solos perfectly.
Not just the best guitarist I've ever heard; also the best musician.
The rhythm section was deep in the pocket while the rest of the band kept things moving perfectly.

Totally agree that Terry Kath would be awed and impressed. Kent replicated the intricacy of Terry's lead solo with the tonality of fingerstyle acoustic. Kudos Kent, you never cease to amaze with both your arrangements and virtuosity.

What an overwhelming combination of awe, elation, and envy I felt watching this. I never realized one human with two hands could do so much with a guitar. As true a virtuoso as ever there was.

It is an amazing arrangement: simple, yet complicated and also nuanced. The musicianship is excellent. I play this in my car sometimes. Sometimes someone asks me the name of the band playing this. I tell them it's one guy. They don't believe me and then ask who did the backing track? I tell them no one. Ok, then they say what drum machine was used for the percussion? None. Lastly they ask how many overdubs did he do? None, live, one take by Kent Nishimura! 😁
They don't realize it's a one man band! Ha!

Apparently Hendrix held Kath up as one of his inspirations. Wonder what his face would look like today if he were to witness Kent? I'm losing my mind trying to wrap my brain around what I just saw.

Chicago's stuff is always a trip. This guy does an incredible job with a tune is not simple.
What a genius;;;
The (also) amazing Lenny Breau did the same thing of comping chords while plucking melodies and holding down the bass at the same time, but mainly on jazz standards. Kent has also added tapping on the body as percussion, and applied it to more contemporary rock and pop standards.
Players like this don’t come around very often because this style of playing is so difficult.
One of the best but underrated artist the world has to acknowledge. Kent style is smooth and classic

The only thing that set Kent from other fingerstyle artists today is the composing part since everyone of them can slap, do harmonics, etc. The kid knows what sounds good without sacrificing the technique and the essence of the song.
The only thing? I’d like to see you replicate this performance note for note.
Not going to lie. This is sick. It basically destroys my whole argument that piano is the best instrument to play if you don’t have a band because you can play the melody and harmony yourself. Clearly you show how well it can be done on guitar. I’d still argue it’s harder to do on guitar, but the results are incredible. Thanks for the sick videos, dude!

The only other time I remember being blown away like this was when I played Van Halen 1 the first time and Eruption came on. That was the moment for every guitar player where they think this just can’t be possible. How is he doing that. I felt that feeling again today.
