I'm a huge fan of Joel. He didn't make a bad album. Some of them might be strong but they weren't bad. I don't get the haters. But to each his own. My personal ranking: 1. Stranger 2. 52nd Street 3. An Innocent Man 4. Glass Houses 5. Turnstiles 6. Piano Man 7. Nylon Curtain 8. Piano Man 9. Streetlife Serenade 10. Storm Front 11. The Bridge 12. River of Dreams 13. Cold Spring Harbor
His best is Turnstiles. His first album back to NY, finding his sound, transitioning from singer/songwriter to a band member and the only album he produced! Everything started from here IMHO
12. Cold Spring Harbor 11. Storm Front 10. River of Dreams 9. The Bridge 8. Streetlife Serenade 7. Piano Man 6. Turnstiles 5. An Innocent Man 4. Glass Houses 3. The Nylon Curtain 2. The Stranger 1. 52nd Street

Cool video! My parents had a tape of his Greatest Hits Vol I & II and we would always listen to it on road trips. I’m mostly into Prog Rock and Metal now but I still love all those songs and I definitely need to check out some of his full albums soon.
True story.. Yesterday I discovered your vinyl collection videos and watched parts 1 and 2. Tonight I listened to a Billy Joel album (52nd Street) for the first time in 25 years, then I go to UA-cam and your ranking Billy Joel albums. Weird right? I thought I'd better subscribe. I enjoy your videos also Billy sounded great.
I don't like his 1986-1993 albums, so after Greatest Hits 1985 I bought Greatest Hits 1997 which really included all the best songs from that period. It would be better if Billy Joel finished releasing albums in 1985 and later limited himself to singles.
Everyone has their own tastes and these kinds of lists are all subjective. That being said, our lists couldn’t be more different. After The Stranger, Glass Houses and especially Turnstiles are near the top of my list while you rank them further down. An Innocent Man, on the other hand, ranks much lower for me. I like basically everything he’s ever done, but songs like Christie Lee is like nails on a chalkboard.

The flag is a nautical storm warning flag.
Thank you! Makes sense given the title
Good taste in music 🎶 and 🍺. 😊
Thank you for putting An Innocent Man in the top 5! That's my favorite! I think it's safe to say nothing got better than The Stranger though!
Cover art on River of Dreams was a painting by then wife (shortly thereafter to be ex) Christie Brinkley.
Good video brother

Billy didn't even play the piano on Fantasies and Delusions.
Turnstiles should be higher and at least top three.
And Cold Spring Harbor should be much lower, considering all but two songs are filler tracks.
