I remember several years ago driving down a narrow lane to a farm close by the community where I’d rented a cottage for a quiet and secluded holiday. As if from nowhere, half a dozen ponies appeared without sound ambling down the lane with young children riding bareback, some barefoot. I made way for them and they totally ignored me as if I was invisible and like apparitions of a forgotten time, silently disappeared down the lane. I felt strangely moved by their gentle appearance, freedom and seeming at one with nature.
When the BBC actually made good programmes. Anyone liking this may enjoy the 2 documentaries about Hannah Hauxwell, Too Long a Winter 1973 and the follow up, A winter too Many 1989...
I spent one night in tipi valley in the early nineties and was inspired by the lifestyle and the ppl there. Unfortunately I made a major faux pas by borrowing a sheep skin to sleep on in the guest tipi and was not hugely popular for that reason (I thought it was on loan) and my rucksack and portable stereo was thrown out on the grass the day after. 😮 🫣 Still though, a cool experience allround, which I am grateful for.
@@ceeemm1901 It’s pretty obvious from what they’ve written. Just a misunderstanding. One person mistakenly thought they could borrow a sheepskin, but owner of the sheepskin didn’t see it that way and got annoyed about it.
@@tom_123 Yes, that clarifies it somewhat. This is why most people can't tell a story. Funny how to this day that "hippies" are just people putting on sanctimonious masks. That they're no different than their parents..the arrogance....throwing someones stereo and rucksack out on the grass...that's a bit of a 5 yo hissy fit, don't you think? Maybe transference from the anquish and terror of the slaughtered sheep seeped through? Om fkn Shanti, Stonehenge.

These shows would be 100x better with a "Where Are They Now?" follow-up 50 years later.
You are right. There was a film made 40 years on.
Some of them will get to see this and comment
Hope you're all ok still 👍
The roads are in worse nick now.
Groovy man. 🎪 🏕 🛖 🌋

You're gunna have to explain why "borrowing a sheepskin" was a faux pas and how a "borrow" and a "loan" in this case were not the same...
