It is a book containing our beliefs and it references the bible to justify how we got to that belief. For example, we do not pray to deceased people. Saints are those living in Christ. Their bodily lives are over but their soul continues to live with him. Or do you not believe in a soul?
Even as a child I never felt that catholic church/beliefs made any sense at all!!! And it so true, I remember growing up there was a priest who was accused of having sex with a minor and nothing ever happened to him. They just moved him to another city.
