@@CaptainFidget imagine though in a next game we also get to pick what side of the conflict we play for the good side with the region´s professor or the bad side with the main evil team
I love fishing minigames, I spent nearly 30 hours in Tales of Arise trying to complete the Fishing Dex. And the one in Yokai Watch 2 is also pretty fun to me.
I'm just surprised that after all these years, with fishing being in every single game, that pokemon haven't once tried to make a decent mini game out of it
I wasn’t sure what this list would entail after your opening statement. Lol but I can agree that your choices would be a breath of fresh air. Especially the last one with no restriction on clothing options and more gender inclusion.
Yep, I didn't want to make a list of wants that we've all seen a bunch of times. Not sure I've seen anyone asking for these and I think they'd make the games much better
I like the last one. But actually, in the modern games (I believe after Gen7) the game never asks you if you are a boy or a girl. They straight up give you 4 versions of male and female appearance without asking your gender, you just pick from it without implying anything about your gender. I would say it possibly would be nice if they got the choice of "pronouns" but I'm not sure how much Gamefreak is willing to put this in. I'm sure some people will appreciate it (I'm totally fine to go with the in-game gender pronoun though). Either way, although I'm a cisgender heterosexual male, I almost always choose the female character for the same reason: She's cuter and has better clothing options in my opinion. Also, Pokemon games almost never include romantic features with the protagonist so it's not like if I choose the female character I'm forced to date a male NPC character (which I'm not really a fan of). The only game I've ever chosen for the male character is my second playthrough of B2W2 because this is the only game that actually does have a dating feature for the protagonist. I must say Yancy is so cute, I would like to ask her out every day just to trade Pokemon with her.
I care a lot about pronouns. I am not a "he", I don't have that experience. I am not a "she" despite being born with two X chromosomes, the stereotypes and restrictions that pronoun is associated with have always been degrading to me. I am per/Pers, but given how specific that is, I am fine with just a they/them option. I know this is the case for many people with the chromosomes they were born with. So just having a third option is a small, but meaningful, addition. I can't begin to explain how nice it felt when I found people and communities that referred to me as either per/Pers or they/them. That change in a massive video game company's franchise would mean so much for me and others.
I think that the only reason we don't get the simulator is because they are holding on to the idea of "raising your own Pokémon for battle", but fail to realize that they have tournaments filled with people that don't do that for the exact reasons you have mentioned. Even in SwSh, where it became so much simpler, it was still a chore and while I enjoyed it, I completely understand why so many don't and either put VGC deep in the shelf or simply Gen Pokémon in.
It's such a shame as well because I really enjoy pokemon battling and would love to take part in it with my friends and community on something that didn't look... well didn't look like showdown. It's a missed opportunity and I hope we get something like it soon
Having fishing be an actually solid mini game would be pretty cool. Honestly though, I think the weirdly specific option here I like most is the more varied dialogue options. Like, even Sun and Moon gave you the opportunity to be a jerk to Hau in a fair few dialogue choices. Even if the dialogue trees aren't super complex, enough options where like. The person who you're talking to might like you a little more or a little less could be worth it. Heck, Pokemon already has a friendship mechanic. Maybe that could be expanded to work with the major npcs too. Like, maybe something akin to social links and confidants in persona. Nothing huge, but like. If a random trainer you got the phone number of is willing to give you berries and evolution stones, your best friends should have their own rewards, right? There's a few moments in the games, XY's postgame comes to mind and HeartGold/SoulSilver's gym leader trades too, where the rival or a professor or some other named trainer offers you a trade or a gift pokemon. What if instead of having that tracked by point in the game, what if it was by relationship level instead?

Honestly the gender choice changes in Pokémon would be so easy to change and wouldn't negatively affect anyone but would make a world of difference for some people. Honestly the fact that they now ask you "what do you look like?" Instead of "are you a boy or a girl?" Is great... Apart from the fact that they then go on to use he/him or she/her pronouns the rest of the game depending on which look you picked. How hard is it to include a small little drop down menu after the question "what pronouns do you use?" With the options he/him, she/her, they/them and maybe a "none" option or the most common neopronouns or whatever would be so simple to implement but would *change the game* for some people
@Enrique Nangüelú the thing is, most people who use neopronouns (xe/xem etc) are decent people and understand that they are hard to grasp irl and hard to implement in games and so I don't think most people would claim -phobia unless they're Karens. I genuinely don't see why it's so hard to add they/them pronouns in games
Yes, this. Even if there are only three options, he/him, she/her or they/them, that'd be great. IRL I use per/Pers pronouns, but if people are having a hard time with those pronouns since they are a little more unusual, I don't mind they/them. So, short of listing many different pronouns or typing in your own, I think the main three options are satisfactory.
I was recently telling a friend that I wish the clothes in Pokemon Go weren't gender locked. There was a headband that was released and I wanted my avatar to wear it like the "boy" style. But of course I can't. :(

So, unfortunately, none of these came true. In fact fishing seems to be completely removed altogether. (At least up to the point in my adventure) But I’m mostly here to thank you for your inclusive final point. Made my gay little heart smile.
As a gnc queer woman, having almost all the female clothing options be things I would not be caught dead in has always bugged the crap out of me. So definitely yes to that last one. (Just gimme my gd boot cut jeans, Gamefreak! Also being able to choose your age and body type is well overdue, but I'm not holding my breath.) Also, hi, I came here from Bird Keeper Toby's channel. o/
Really liked all your wishes for games in the future, it would be great to have this things eventually, althought a bit of a complication I see for the neutral pronoun option is localization. Althought for the english version it would be as easy as to adapt dialogs for they/them pronouns, in spanish for instance the topic on gender neutral pronouns it's a bit more.. complicated. Whitout going too deep into the matter, spanish doesn't really have an "official" established purely non binary pronoun, so I see difficult coming up with an official localization that includes a non binary option for the protagonist, that being just in spanish, don´t really know what complictaions other lenguages may have, still the clothes not being gender dependant and even the he and she pronouns being separated from the charachter model seem totally achievavle whitout major complications. (Sorry if something doesn't really make sense, as you may be able to tell spanish is my mother lenguage and not english).
@@Ageman20XX The thing is, many times when the gender/sex is unknown, it defaults to the male word, for instance in your first example the generic "child" was translated as "niño" which is also a translation for boy and the male counterpart of "niña". Similar things with other nouns like "friend" "trainer" "champion"..., technically the male version of the word is right for undetermined gender but probably not what a non-binary option would be hoped to look like. In addition for nouns that doesn't change based on gender like "aspirant" there's still a thing with the word "the" that has 4 translations in spanish based on number and gender of the subjects, and again the male version is kind of the default one that leaves open the possibility for the subject been other gender... but that one translates the same as the word "he", so a sentence like "so you are the aspirant for the title of champion" would translate " así que tu eres *el* aspirante para el titulo de campeón" the bolded "el" appearing to reffer to the character as "he" even though it just acts as a "the" for the noun. So there are some complications to make a gender neutral version in spanish that doesn't seem as a male version, there might be a way to do it if you structure your dialogues just right but, aside from the fact that it may not come out as "natural" too put it some way, it would definitely still be harder to achieve than an english version which is what I originally tried to express as a reason for the option to be tougher to implement than it may appear at first, and again that's just spanish, no clue what complications other languages may have. Again, sorry if the redaction isn't quite there, still not a native english speaker.
I would like them to keep the he or she pronouns for people who identify that way, but add a third they/them pronoun option for people like me. That would just mean the world to me and I am sure many others.
I think that's actually what they ask now when you choose your avatar, which is a step in the right direction. But, I figured then asking are you a boy/girl/unspecified was more likely than straight up saying 'what's your preferred pronouns'
just so you know Captian fidget Japanese don't really like woke ideas ie. lgbt stuff and tbh i think i feel well represented in pokemon i always play the gender i feel like for that particular file and yes most of them are female even though i am a gay man
I'm aware, hence the admission that diving into what it would take for such an idea to be present was beyond the scope of this video. I'm so glad that you feel represented and much like yourself I will always choose whichever male or female character I want for each game, usually dependant on whichever I think has a better design. This is just one more small addition that I think would help be even more inclusive
I am glad that people like you feel represented. People like me don't. I am very strongly not a "he" or "she" but a "they" and the disconnect where in real life people refer to me as "they", but I have to be "he" or "she" in video games ruins the immersion and detracts from some of the fun when I am having conversations with NPCs. It's a shame Japan isn't at that stage, but it really hurts people like myself.

That's a really cool idea. Especially as you're going to be able to trade with your friends in world now too
the last point is realyy good But that never gonna happen
It's unlikely, but I'd still love to see it some day
@@CaptainFidget yeah same
So, unfortunately, none of these came true.
Also being able to choose your age and body type is well overdue, but I'm not holding my breath.)
Also, hi, I came here from Bird Keeper Toby's channel. o/
I wouldn’t mind being able to be a heavy character. What if I want to look like a hiker? 🤔
Sliders really need to be put in place
Lol fishing 🤣
4:50 It's not fun for anyone. It gate-keeps competitive.
A they/them protag would be nice
Also means that GameFreak would only need to design one base trainer instead of two
I would like them to keep the he or she pronouns for people who identify that way, but add a third they/them pronoun option for people like me. That would just mean the world to me and I am sure many others.
Omg #1 really touched my heart🥹
Glad you got some positivity from it 😊
I want to be able to catch starly and shinx
They are awesome pokemon to be fair
huh... I feel like I heard n°2 recently... you know, like in a podcast? ;)
Maaaaaaaaaybe
Honestly, on the gender thing, I would appreciate if the questions was "What do you look like?" instead of the Boy/Girl thing.
I think that's actually what they ask now when you choose your avatar, which is a step in the right direction. But, I figured then asking are you a boy/girl/unspecified was more likely than straight up saying 'what's your preferred pronouns'
Well as for the last part, Japan haven't embraced the whole gender neutrality thing yet and that kinda reflects on pokemon imo
I know, and it is a shame but they have had little hints to trans people in past games so there may be hope to see it some day
Games are so directed to the male protagonist, that when you pick the female avatar, it end up in involuntary lesbianism
Ahhh Shauna
Idk wym male Pokemon protags already have feminine jaws
Not everyone can be as chiseled as Turo
love this
Glad you enjoyed it
just so you know Captian fidget Japanese don't really like woke ideas ie. lgbt stuff and tbh i think i feel well represented in pokemon i always play the gender i feel like for that particular file and yes most of them are female even though i am a gay man
I'm aware, hence the admission that diving into what it would take for such an idea to be present was beyond the scope of this video.
Interesting list I agree with some of this stuff and want them like in game battle simulator for example whilst other things I don't mind not having as much.
6:22 I’m sorry, no!! I don’t want this game to support LGBTQ, never, please
gender neutral is fine, but that specific « pride » flag? Hell No
Then I don't much care for your opinion
hahaha gender choice ahahah
