Maybe him not capturing any Supernova was intentional too, since he would have excuses not to capture Bonney, who would probably have been a priority: "I couldn't capture anyone, but here are 500 random pirates" All his anger for not being able to capture the Straw Hats seems to have been fake. He blamed Rayleigh, and completely ignored the part that it was Kuma who saved the Straw Hats, and that he couldn't capture Bonney.
He’s not a loser, but he’s someone content with whatever happens. He’s an admiral and one of the strongest characters in the show. He’s not concerned about much of anything else besides his job. Kizaru is the guy with a good job that comes in and punches the clock and goes home when his time is done. He’s happy.
Oda created an interesting dynamic between yonko and admirals. Admirals aren’t free to do whatever they want so they can’t seek out justice fully but yonko have that freedom just not the morals to get true justice. Each group wants a better world but can’t attain it due to their limitations. That’s why luffy and Koby being the next head of each party is perfect for the world

I think this is gonna be the last catalyst that causes Akainu to actually mobilize. Aokiji and the BB pirates are making huge moves especially now that they have Garp, Fujitora is responsible for the warlord system being disband, Greenbull did capture King and Queen but with the Cross Guild present I could see them storming Impel Down and Mihawk defeating him while they break out Doffy potentially and I’m sure that in Akainu’s eyes Kizaru is the reason the Strawhats got away, because he’s not gonna go up there and point fingers at the Elders. Also, I wonder how he’ll react/if he’ll even find out that Saturn was replaced, and if he’ll blame Kizaru for that too

i just assumed he figured if he didn’t do it then the 5 elders who up until now have been sadistic, apathetic, and are clearly strong enough to fight admirals at best would drag out vegapunks death. Kizaru saw it as his friend really was going to be killed no matter what happened so he might as well make it quick and painless as possible. He probably really was happy luffy was strong enough to justify him being ko and took the dive the first chance he thought vegapunk had an actual chance to escape. It didn’t work out but you can see why that logic makes sense

any admirals would box with any yonko no problem,if anything there's a serious argument to be made about the admirals being the strongest characters currently in one piece,as an entity,they're the strongest group by far.
