And that makes her cold betrayal, her cries of pain from injury, and her death, Actually feel like a mother figure to the player because of her previous role. As anyone would when facing Gaia, it just feels so unnatural and wrong and its wild how they did that, intentional or not.
Its interesting to see that Gaia is not stronger than the other Titans but possesses her own strengths like how she can contact Kratos in hell and even expects him to show up in the past. She's definely great at one thing but nothing more than a giant in other terms.
god of war series was ahead of its time, the games were brilliantly brutal and had amazing visuals for its time and honestly gow3 doesnt even look bad nowadays. santa monicas employees are fucking beasts
I'll never forget getting this game on release date and going to my cousins house to play, and then being absolutely BLOWN away by the poseidon fight, and then all the brutality to Zeus. This game brought out all the PS3's power, Truly a masterpiece. Few games have you feel like a true force of nature
Exactly this, I don't feel this hype for games anymore unfortunately. Not sure if it is because of me or simply because there are way fewer of such epic games coming out these days.
So there were apparently a few alternate endings to God of War 3. One talked upon briefly in the end of the video. Where Kratos fights the gods, as a result the gods neglect humanity meaning mankind loses faith in them. Subsequently destroying all the gods. Kratos would then cut his wrists (using the motion controls on the PS3 controller) The story would then conclude with a narrator commenting on the idea of humanity always needing something to believe in, all while the visual on screen is a playable wiseman following a star. Ushering in the new religion and hinting at a new pantheon. This ending was actually hinted on in one of the previous games with an interactive secret painting. The first I believe. The second ending would be Kratos realising he can’t die and the Blades of Chaos being melted down and turned into a scythe. Kratos then becomes the Grim Reaper. Stig Asmussen also said there was a planned longer ending. But that they went with what we got because I suspect Santa Monica didn’t want to sequel tease so they had a clean slate to do something new in the future.
Honestly I would be down with the first ending. Gow3 could have been one of those games where you can choose between the canon and alternate so that god of war PS4 could still exist.
It took the death of his family, his brother, the entirety of the spartan people, all of the gods of olympus and even the sisters of fury and fate to make kratos realize that revenge is a fools game. The moment zeus was dead, he realised it was not worth it. You can see it in the way he reacts to Athenas spirit.
It's what makes his moving to Midgard so raw; I feel bad for people getting into the franchise with Dad of Boy, there's no way they'd be able to actually appreciate just how troubled older Kratos truly is. The ending of Ragnarök almost brought me to tears.
Seems like most people who get revenge in real life don’t regret it, what was he supposed to do? Sit there and take it? They got what was coming to them but it’s a shame it destroys the world, that’s really a bummer lmao.
@@voltaicburst4279 I think they do, but everyone who is wronged want revenge and regret it after seeing its effects. I think it’s just inevitable to get revenge and regret it’s consequences
@@orlandofigueroa2137 that’s a fairly tale mate. People can stab someone for a watch and laugh about it afterwards, they only regret it when someone punishes them for it. and in turn, the person taking revenge only regrets it if there’s consequences. It varies from person to person, even in war, most people said they suffered trauma from seeing their friends die, not killing the enemy for the most part. The ideas they push about vengeance are incorrect.
Hermes is not actually underwhelmingly slow. Its what kratos sees from his perspective and gameplay mechanics. In-Universe hermes is actually faster than light if im not wrong either that or fast as light. Same for helios his "flashbang" was actually just as hot as the sun itself and bright as the sun itself aswell. Much of these concepts are carried in GoW2018. They punch like they are captain america but in-universe according to the director their actual punches manipulate the space around it. Just thought i would explain.
Real talk, if I were a god, as Kratos racks up the body count, I'd honestly just stand aside after number 3. That is too convincing of a number for me to try my odds.
16:04 I disagree (again). Kratos ain't stupid, but he is insanely naive. Much of the shit Kratos does is shortsited but overall plausible. Like when he made that deal with Ares to save his own life. In fear of death he acted impulsively. In his mind being alive and serving Ares was better than dying but of course he didn't know Ares was conspiring to have his family killed. Same with the rest of Olympus, in search of forgetting his horrible memories he wasted 10 years working for the gods and doing errands for them without ever really getting anything in return and then Zeus even kills him for that just because he held onto that hope of them finally making him forget. Same with the Titans, in search of revenge against Olympus, Kratos allied with the Titans in hopes of killing Zeus and when it came to it, Gaia abandoned Kratos and let him fall into the Underworld. Only at the end of gow 3 does Kratos finally learn and evolve. Throughout the entirety of the old gow games, Kratos acted impulsively, always out of emotion and with no foresight and it literally cost him everything. Everything Kratos does is to a certain degree plausible. He made a deal with Ares to save his own life. He killed Ares cause it was him who transported Kratos's family into that village he was tasked to slaughter, but the main reason was that Olympus wanted him to kill Ares and Kratos wanted them to take his memories so... And you know doing fruitless errands for the gods for 10 years and then being killed by them would probably piss anyone off. Not to mention Kratos saved the world once and he had sacrifice ever reconciling with his family in Elysium again to do that. And also both his mother and brother died for seemingly no good reason at all (at least for Kratos) and it was also Zeus's fault. So is it plausible that Kratos would want to tear Zeus apart for everything he had done while not giving a shit about collateral damage anymore? Kratos got screwed and fucked by so many parties, he literally went insane and started going on a rampage which we today know as Gow 3. In the end that is probably what Kratos in Gow 4 regretted the most. Never thinking first, being naive and guillable and always letting emotions speak first. Although Kratos got the last laugh on all his previous enemies, the damage he caused is undeniably huge and he wouldn't have suffered nearly as much. But thats not my point. What I am saying is, Kratos is naive, short tempered and often times guillable but not nessecarily stupid and brainless. If you've gotten to the end of my essay (rant), Cheers. Edit: Also writing such a huge paragraph for such a little comment is laughable, but I am gonna do it anyway.
1:07:58 this is one of the hardest rooms in the game. Having the gorgon magic from the hades weapons helps tons by allowing you to freeze and one shot the annoying enemies

There is a piece of deleted dialogue of Zues apologizing to Kratos for everything that happened.

The God of War franchise itself is probably one of the best examples of awesome gameplay and great storytelling. The devs really put their effort into these games to make it a great experience for gamers.
@@TheBlackSpartan103 It will, as much as God of War 2018 is nothing like the old triology, it still has the absolute passion of the team. Athena literally says "Zeus will not fall as easily as Ares. To destroy the King of the gods, you must seek the source of his power: The Flame of Olympos."
Charlie asked about Kratos' failures so here are the ones I can think of off the top of my head: - he failed as a Spartan general - he murdered his family (tha's a pretty big fail) - he failed to retrieve the Pandora's box and had to have Zeus help him escape Hades - he failed to save his mother - he failed to save Deimos - he failed to save Orkos - he failed as a god of war and got his ass beat - he failed to kill Zeus and killed Athena instead - he initially failed his siege of Olympus - he failed to save Pandora
And failed to save sparta as the god of war when zeus destroyed it and get rid of the nightmares after 10 years of being a slave, he just played the games and forgot everything like wtf is he smoking.
I love the fact that they continue the boat captain arc throughout all of the games. I hope there is some Easter egg reference to him in the new ones as well.

12:03 Wrong. It is actually possible to die here. When you miss the QTE, Poseidon pushes you away and deals a very small amount of damage. When I played this game, I actually beat Poseidon's actual fight with just a little bit of health remaining and died when missing the QTE, in what was probably the funniest and most anti-climatic death I've ever suffered in any videogame.

Can i just say how Brilliant Fucking mad lad genius it is to have Gaia be the narrator of the first two games only for in the third she becomes just as much a vulnerable entity as anyone.
To this day Gaia being a dumb brute and Athena inexplicably becoming the final bad are still my least favorite aspects of GOW 3.

I will try to take note
It took the death of his family, his brother, the entirety of the spartan people, all of the gods of olympus and even the sisters of fury and fate to make kratos realize that revenge is a fools game. The moment zeus was dead, he realised it was not worth it. You can see it in the way he reacts to Athenas spirit.
Yeah exactly, all that has a tragic dominos effect 😢
It's what makes his moving to Midgard so raw; I feel bad for people getting into the franchise with Dad of Boy, there's no way they'd be able to actually appreciate just how troubled older Kratos truly is. The ending of Ragnarök almost brought me to tears.

Wrong.
It's like fighting and almost killing a bear... and a gnat stings you and you die
This whole game really shows how you should never mess with Kratos
Whole series
It’s very interesting to see how the trilogy comes full circle. It was Kratos’s stupidity and unrelenting bloodthirst that lead to his families death… and the same thing lead to his realms demise. It’s only in GOW4 where we see that’s he’s actually grown. He met someone who actually helped him changed. He’s still dumb, but he’s a wise, heartfelt dummy now. God damn they really just did the OG trilogy justice with the perfect way they followed up Kratos’s journey.
Kratos was never dumb. Time and time again he's shown he can adapt to the challenges at hand, be it physical or mental. Once he has a goal, he will achieve it. What you believe to be stupidity should really be seen as absolute selfishness
@@victora.1329 Kratos is intelligent, but doesn't think. If he stopped to think about what he did for even a second he'd see where he fucked up, but time and time again he barges forward on pure instinct.
@@SvarogAristaeusAllen yeah which is why it's nice to see him mature in the reboot. It'll be interesting to see if Atreaus follows the same path as his father

I agree with this statement
He far from stupid, even if he don't choose the best life options, that don't matter because at the end of the day, look what he done
"He's not that fast, he wouldn't be able to match the quickster"
I love these subtle spongebob jokes and references he does
Considering GOW3 is a decade old it still looks fucking amazing. I remember my teenage mind went nuts when I saw those graphics.
This game made me realize how much disrespect the devs had for hades. You kill his brother, his wife, and his niece, then you escape him like 3 times completely uncontested and make him look like a bitch. And to top all of that off and to add insult to injury, you kill him in his own hood in the underworld, take his weapons, his literal fucking soul and feed him to the river styx lol absolutely brutal.
Why is Hercules faster than Hermes? lol 43:20
The best part about Kratos is that he humilates the gods before they die, like hades, he smashed him into the ceiling then the floor before he killed him
thats not how humiliation works 😂
49:48 "I knew it was you who killed her, Spartan. Who else could?"
Literally almost Poseidon at the start of the game.
had the pleasure of watching this with the boys while all of us were on a shroom trip and i have to say this vid deserves a like
bro why this
Doesnt sound like the nicest trip setting but to each their own
@@bonazza4483 it’s helped keep me in reality low key, even had a full conversation with penguinz0 lol
