How medal event is judged:
1 heat of 8 athletes in a 30-minute jam session taking as many runs as time permits. Best 3 runs per athlete are scored & the best 2 count. Judges will score competitors throughout the contest.

I’m convinced the Judges don’t actually understand that Rene wasn’t just being stylish, he was blowing the minds of all snowboarders. That trick is way more difficult than they can fathom.

So good with the addition of the style score. Very good of xgames to introduce knuckle huck, and now a style element in big air to.
But I think style should be worth more. Or have two style jumps, bonus points if they are very different from each other.

Big air should be based on style and flips miss the days of mark Mcmorrison, torstein horgmo yuki kadono etc cause spins is just dragged at this point that’s why slopestyle and superpipe are the main title contenders
Flips should be scored so much higher. A triple flip, to me, is so much better than any number of spins. The winner did well but honestly it's just not for me.
@@PlaySA a couple years ago people said they`d rather see flat spins then flip spins (corks)
So. it is just too much spin in general. The style jumps should have more weight, or have two style jumps, one left one right side, for example.

I think he just knows that Big air has gone out of his repertoire. He can't do back to back 1980s. But he is good at slopestyle.
I enjoy him not appearing in and winning every single event just bc he and his family own several sponsors. great athlete but sometimes appeared arrogant few years back, seems to be more relaxed and down to earth / snow nowadays tho. personally I enjoy him commenting much more than his move set which barely changed over the last 10 years besides adding rotations.

Taiga did deserve the win imo but a lot of the other runs were scored too low. Incredible contest as usual though!

Great contest. The 360 recovery makes me want to see 360 landings on everything. Imagine a tripple cork 1800 and on landing they do a 540. It'd look so sick

I personally think that flipping the format would make it more of a viewer favorite: 10 points on the technical and split 45-point runs tricks they’ve honed to be their own. At least give it a shot once or something ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@jamesplaum1927That's weak, the style scoring is sick although I will say I don't understand the format, riders should be able to do multiple style attempts just like other attempts. But personally, I love the style runs, they look better overall than just spinning like a top. For that matter, triple or quad flip variations are WAY better than straight 1800s
@@jamesplaum1927 Also, the style is a tiny fraction of the total score, it's out of 10 while each direction spin is out of 50. So I'm calling bullshit on that explanation

Can we talk about how Big Air has become redundant with the way Slopestyle "money booters" are? The same tricks are being launched at the bottom of a rail course now. It's time to separate the two.. Maybe I'm just old.

Ski big air is far more interesting. I watched this one out of curiosity and you might hate me for that but it's just boring. Here most of jumps looks almost the same with similar grabs

Hot take. Big air should have weight catagories like mma does. 140lb dude doesnt rotate the same as a 190lb dude
I think height categories would make more sense since you could chance your weight to have less competition if there were weight categories
