English budgies have a lifespan that is half as long as their Australian counterparts; the extreme amount of plumage also indicates their extremely short lifespan being a less than a decade or a few years
I agree. Unfortunately, there are people who are attracted to the extreme degenerate appearance of animals. I feel very sorry for those birds, as well as for all domestic animals that were created through unethical crossbreeding. They increased the size of this bird and shortened its life span. In my abandoned animal shelter, I have three parrots like this in a huge aviary and I regularly trim their head feathers so they can see that they fly... They have difficulty flying and cannot feel the joy of flying like normal parrots. Sad.
Aaah. We have an old English budgie at home, 14 years as of last month, but he doesn't puff up as much as what's usually shown in internet images. Most he gets is what he call, "Winston Churchill". Squat eyes and chubby cheeks, but that's all. You can still see him unlike some of these pictures where even the forehead expands like 3x.
Question?...Does anyone in the U.S.A. Have any of your birds because Im a novice and almost have my aviary completed finally thank you for showing the world tour quality birds..
Looks like quite a few have blood on their faces from fighting and I see some stressed. Maybe there are too many in one cage or they need to be separated by personality. I have an English and a standard and the little one picks on the big one a lot, but no blood.
Having been a budgie breeder in the far past and a geneticist later. These birds should fly outside. And also if one breeds them, select for strength. Meaning they should be able to fly far and really stand on their feet. That makes them healthy, enjoy life and still be very beautiful.
Heads are nice, but I also like to see a budgie with a lot more shoulder, the mask comes out better, these are things I learned from the late George Jenkins J645. He didn't breed many budgies, but he was an all round breeder. These birds from Mike Ball have the right length, but there is much more to it. Setting up a separate line with yellow feathering and slowly introducing it from the side would really breed super birds. I think it's a beautiful video, but unfortunately the music doesn't do it any good.
Yes, George died 6 years ago, his wife Valerie died years before, then he found a girlfriend again who made his life more pleasant. George was 86 years old. We had a partnership sinds 1979.😉@@paulcunningham9081
They need to be old enough. Paired together for at least 2 weeks. In an appropriate sized box for their breed. Some budgies never breed. Try mixing the pairs. Try and buy a female thats had successfully eggs and hatchlings already. Pair her with one of your birds. Best done when its warm. These birds come from Australia. In the north. Its warm and sub tropical.
I realized after purchasing a couple breeding pair of English Budgies and spending 1 year to breed them that I do not wish to contribute to raising birds that are overbred, tend to have health issues and live short lives. Seeing these freaky looking birds who probably can’t see or fly justifies my quitting that much more. I find these birds ugly and do not get the whole “breeding for characteristics” mentality. I’m sad to think that my pet English Budgies will live a short life because of some of the genetic flaws inherent in this breed. I quit!
I raised English for years and I think a lot of their health has much to do with their food. Majority of people feed seed only. Feed them lots of greens and eggs and you will see a big difference.

Ohh so that's why my show budgies are way more chubbier and lazy than Australian ones I thought they were obese and that's why unable to fly

Can they fly properly with feathers covering their eyes?
Surely its best to see these birds enjoying their natural lives in the wild with other budgies, living their best life
I live in Australia and that is ridiculous comment they wouldn’t last five minutes in the wild.
these birds are breed and are not from wild, they would die in wild they dont have the strenght to survive
Do you wear leather shoes ,belts, think before opening your mouth
@@tophat_promotionsandmarketing Yea nah mate, there are wild flocks of budgies in Oz.

When you say the Worlds largest budgies are you talking about height, or weight or both and what are the average height and weight in this aviary?

Is George Jenkins dead ? He was happily retired the last that I heard. I know his wife died a few years ago now.

It is only a good budgie if it can fly. It is a bird after all ! A bird that cannot fly should NOT be awarded any prizes.
