@@terminaldeity it’s like, you can tell they’re popular in the underground because of how many people are there, but they’re not a mainstream band so they’re not playing on a stage but rather in a basement of some kind. That’s 15 year old me. You should choose another hero though. What people should know is that it was roughly 500 degrees in there, and that’s why everybody looks exhausted.
Converge has always been before their time which makes them timeless. I've been to hundreds of shows and seen thousands of bands. I'll still say to this day, the best show I've ever been to was the first time I saw Converge. Maybe '06? Cleveland, OH
This reminds me of a Converge show in Amsterdam at a tiny place (Volta) beginning of the 2000s. It fit like 100-150 people. Sold out. Mayhem. The show was with Shikari, Rise and Fall, Instil, Greyline, Dead Rivers, and - last minute addition - Bleeding Through! (Cause they started their Euro tour with Sick Of It All and Walls of Jericho the next day at the Melkweg in Amsterdam - squeezed in, for free, at the last moment)
Rarely. But they do. Look up a video of full of hell playing sometime in 2013. Floor was packed and everyone was moshing or headbanging. Nobody had their phone out and if you did, it would get broken immediately. Shit looks intense. I also saw Revocation at a small ass bar not too long ago and the stage was small as fuck so they might as well have been on the floor. Show was just as crazy as this. People jumping off the stage and shit into people was crazy.
If memory serves, Dylan from Full of Hell would perform on the floor while the band was on stage back in their earlier days, but I haven't seen them do that in a long time. I'm seeing them this summer at a venue where the stage is not much higher than the club floor, we'll see what happens.
Look at KB taking charge at 2:45 after his amp apparantly went fucked xD Converge are so cool! Love them forever... by the way, did ATSS also play at this gig? Would be such a badass bill!
Haha. I had that same Bane tree of life shirt back in the day. I miss these types of shows, VFWs, Library basements, people's houses... ...I feel a little too old and silly to be getting swept in a wave of sweaty arms flailing everywhere. Always wondered why the old dudes hung out in the back. Now I am that old dude.
I'm almost 33 and if I still went to shows like this I'd most likely be standing near a wall leaning against it because I have bad knees. No more stage dives and high fives for this dude. lolz
it's nuts to think that the kids in this video are all in their 30's now - and even 40's. i was 21, though not in this video...i wasn't in this video. still, going to these shows.. converge, dillinger, melvins, botch, cave-in, isis, pig destroyer..... those were only the heavyweights!!! I probably went to 200 shows from 1999 to 2004.... and they were all the best years of my life.
I say still go. I turn 34 in January and next month I'm flying out to Sound & Fury in LA for the second year in a row. I've been going to shows like this since I was 15 and fractured my wrist at a Burn show as recently as a year and a half ago. Attending these shows now just means we've got better health insurance to pay the medical bills!
Joey Clemenza it is nuts. This was such a good time in music to be a part of. I still go to the same shows but only once in a while do I lose my shit and end up front and center getting hurt and blowing my voice out. It keeps you young to get back in there occasionally. It does hurt more than it did when I was 20 though.
