  • Yesterday was July 4, and as Americans celebrated the 248th anniversary of their independence, I was scrolling through my cellphone's gallery.
By coincidence, I stumbled upon a short video I had made on May 2, 2024. On this particular day, we went on a field trip, organized by my secondary school, to the Belgian West Front, commonly referred to as Flanders Fields.
Harrowing battles took place in these fields during World War One. Trench warfare, chemical weapons... you name it. It all happened right there.
My objective for the day was to take as many photos as I could, and hand them over to my history teacher at the end of the day. On our way back home on the bus, I put some of the most important pictures together, and thus created this brief video. I wanted to put this on my channel, but had completely forgotten about it, until now. So, please, take your time to watch this brief video. Think about these soldiers who died in this senseless war, fighting for you and for me, so that we would be safe, free and prosperous today. Know that they are not only our veterans, they are our heroes.
(Please note that I've also included pictures of German memorials, lest we forget these people were fulfilling their duty, just like our soldiers were, and that they were also fighting for what they considered to be the right thing. These individuals were not inherently evil, just because they served our enemy. If we fail to acknowledge that, there will never be total peace on the face of earth, and that's why we should never forget that.)
