Speed never slumps, he can be an above average defender, minimal power. He is a solid contributor depending on the rest of the team. Clase is a role player, won't be a star, but can a really good contributor to a big league team and if you give him a couple of years he can be a starter and contributor to a playoff team. That's what I see. In 2024, no, he can't be a contributor. In 2026, yes can be a solid contributor. If I were a team I would like to trade for him and have him as a throw in. I don't the mariners value him and he could be a throw in to a bigger deal.
Just saying, Seattle has done good with FSU players in the past, they have 2 very developed hitters right now, James Tibbs if your looking for a power outfielder type (needs to work on his corner of spot more) or Cam smith of your looking for a bat to ball guy with pop. Smith is arguably the better developed hitters at this point but Tibbs could be a beast, thoughts anyone?
Totally get your point about the talent gap at the AA/AAA level. But it seems like a lot of the 1st round college talent in our pick range doesn’t control the zone well. I wouldn’t be shocked if they stick to their pattern given the talent pool of the draft, high upside young guy 1st round, well rounded college bat 2nd or later. Ex: Williamson, Locklear, Packard, Roden, etc… And then work magic with the pitching as always.
It’s super ugly but the Ms are averaging ~5 runs/game in June (or as much as the Yankees). But I completely agree that they need a bat 😊 As for a trade, why is Lane Thomas not talked about more? Him and Harvey or Finnegan would cost (maybe Ford+?) but solve a ton of problems
The Marlins make too much sense as a partner for a monster trade. They have Chisholm, De La Cruz, and Lopez on the position side we could target. Scott as relief help and I really like Ryan Weathers as our 5th starter or 6th when Woo comes back. He's better than Hancock and maybe close to on par with Miller. That'd be a massive trade for both sides, but it'd be worth it for the Mariners. That'd almost surely mean Hancock, Bliss, Clase, Canzone, Young, Celestin, and Arroyo are all involved in that trade, with likely 3 more mid prospects included. 😂😂😂 I know, pipe dream, but historically, the Mariners have been involved in large 10+ player trades every other decade since their inception. This is that decade guys, let's keep that weird pattern going.😅😅😅
I am not saying Julio is bad or that I would trade him for anyone playing now. Just saying I would rather have JR. back now at his prime than Julio now because JR. was better.

In case of Polanco and Garver, these are players that have numbers that are hard to explain after 2 months of adjustment to the new team. Alonso or Robert will have to go through the same period of adjustments that Polanco and Garver had to go through. The M’s need to find out why the added players are striking out of step with their career numbers. Any new additions will be susceptible to this disease.

Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. First, win the division, then worry about the rest. Constructing a World Series team on paper is no guarantee to get to the World Series. Look at the Mets last year. Last year, the teams that made it to the World Series had lots of warts (Diamondbacks had starting pitcher woes and Rangers had bullpen woes). People who don’t look to history are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

Jose Abreu just got released. For 162 games season, he averages 29 HRs and 108 RBIs. The M’s should take a flier on him.
