I loved the episode! Do you recommend Creatine to average gym goers? I've read before that the body develops a dependency where once you stop taking it, you're worse off than before you started. True? False? Or not a deterrent at all?
Check out this meta-study of creatine supplementation: jissn.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1550-2783-4-6 See the section "Medical Safety of Creatine Supplementation" The takeaway is that Creatine has been studies for over 2 decades, with some people supplementing low doses for almost the entire time, and have shown no ill-effects. There are also a lot of good references there for further reading.
For Elite Crossfit athletes who train 3 to 6 times a day, how many calories are we talking about each day ? Between 4000 to 6000 Cal / day for a man ? Thanks
Excellent video/information! Thank you. FYI - hypernatremia is a serum sodium concentration > 145 mEq/L. It implies a deficit of total body water relative to total body sodium caused by water intake being less than water losses. You need to change this in the video, I think you meant hyponatremia.
This may be true of red meat, but if your body can't process it, it becomes one of the worse pains imaginable and that's coming from someone with Endometriosis! Everytime I eat it I get severe pain to the point where I can't get up
I tried taking creatine a few weeks ago. Took it 3 times, got a headache each time, ended with an enormous migraine and I will never take it again. I wish I could, but no.
How can we roughly tell what our omega 3 to 6 ratio is? I regularly eat fish, canned tuna/salmon and take a daily fish oil tablet and have little processed food. Would taking cod liver oil on top of that be too much?
There is extensive research saying that eating meat is linked to number one killer which is heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, etc. Just research for yourself. I would like to hear from Ben if we can have games athletes on plant based diet. There is new documentry "The game changers" showing athletes kicking ass on vegan diet. More and more athletes are changing diet for plant based and having amazing results.
Vegan Athlete there is evidence that most of our funding for nutritional research comes from people who are or support seventh Day Adventist. That’s extreme bias.
Great episode and I Love Michael Pollan !! Fantastic resources. The Dorito Effect was another great book.
In Peru we eat liver from most of the animals(cow,chicken,llama....)

False, take it. Also has cognitive benefits even if you didn't workout.

Dan is hilarious. More Dan.
Is it more beneficial to take cod liver oil in the morning to start your day, or in the evening just before bed?
