Most dividend stocks have a lower total return than the S&P500. People are deluded that dividends are free money. They aren't - dividends reduce the underlying stock price. Check out the adjusted closing price on the ex-dividend date.

Get a broker like Robinhood who lets you invest in fractional shares or dollar amounts
