I have seen several tests with the C8 stingray beating the 500, mainly because of its superior traction from the launch. Rolling start it always will lose. The Z06 is a different beast. Its going to be it regardless. Power to weight and better traction.
Turbo s will win. The Z06 is the pinnacle of Naturally aspirate Rwd, the 911 is aimed at being as efficient as possible with its AWD. Its not a fair matchup on paper, yet the Z06 is still brilliant enough to keep up. It hardly loses

Looks like the same rear twin turbo setups that can bolt right up to the base C-8 works on the Z06. Bad news for the big HP mustangs! First one has been installed already! The F1 class sound it produces with bigger pipes is stunning.
3 mph in the trap speed is pretty significant… but you conveniently focus just on the power difference. What about power to weight? The aero on the Z07 pack is slowing it down up top.
You have to understand that a second he stop will the gt500 is moving is a lot of work to get back. You have to start match and pass the speed then start gaining.
The gt500 is the quicker car once it’s moving, the Z gets out of the hole better. If you put the right tires on the gt500 the Z06 is in trouble regardless, faster trap speed means that during most (realistic) highway roll racing.. the Z06 is taking the L

Not shocking at all. We all know that the GT500 will struggle for traction at the launch with factory tires. The Z06 doesn't have this issue. A set of drag radials on the 500 will take care of this, I have run mine to 10:40s in the 1/4 with this simple $800.00 change of tires. Even struggling with traction the 500 trapped much higher than your Z06, showing the power advantage it has. How about a roll race with the 500, this would be a much better measure. Z06 is impressive but it better be for the 200k street price.
And a 6:08 it was showing a GT500 versus a Stingray, not the Z06. In other words, that's the picture he had showing the GT500's trap speed, so that's the one he showed. Then he put text up on the screen saying the Z06 trapped 154.XX.

The 2020 GT500 CFTP driven by Randy Prost on the track against a 2019 Porsche GT3RS ( he raced both against the clock). Look it up. The GT3 won by a fraction of a second. The CFTP was $102K. $80K less. The Z06 is about the same cost as the GT3. So you can’t say the GT500 will get smoked by the Z06. Hell it’s $70K less. As Shelby said he makes cars that the working man can afford that can kick ass. Let’s see your Z06 on the track with a CFTP GT500 with the same track alignment and same driver. Hire Randy Post. The GT3 RS doesn't dispatch the Shelby quite so easily. With Randy Pobst behind the wheel of both, the Porsche is just two-tenths of a second faster around Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. For about $4K to swap an upper pulley and fuel rail mods and a tune the GT500 can add over 100hp. Try that on anything else and get back to us.
Weird. I can add a hundred horsepower to my VW Golf for less than $1500. And the GT3RS is just in a different league of vehicle to the Mustang, even if the Mustang earns respect by turning the same lap time.

No internal mods at all. Increase the boost with a pulley, fuel mods, tune for much less than $4K depending on the shop. But it’s good to assume a higher number as a few more mods and get closer to 900rwhp. Depends on a lot of factors. Follow the tuners and builders. It’s all out there as proof. Boils down to how a car makes you feel.

The gt500 is a terrible dig car. The dual clutch doesn’t like launching at all. It’s definitely the faster car just finding a proper launch is tough. The new vettes are great launchers. Now from a roll is where the gt500 is ridiculous, definitely shines there. Also that Gap was pretty substantial lol, he jumped but wouldn’t have made a difference that was bus lengths and still pulling.
I love both cars and I'm not biased here but I'll say it plain and would if I was driving the Z06 - the spread was increasing vs the modified GT 500 and the mustang never stopped widening the gap; which is the definition of exponential no matter how minute. Why the "don't believe your lying eyes" crap? Just be honest, especially with yourself.
The Z06 hasn't gone through the suggested break in period is why the dino number was low. Should have brought a Z06 that had its first oil change and turned. So you can use every option in the computer and modes.
The GT 500 driver blew the tires off on the launch then had to pedal around 60 as he started spinning again. Started making up ground near the end of the run.
760hp supercharged vs 670Na. Take it to the track the better runs circles around the stang. They both excel in different categories and both are amazing cars. The 500 isn’t a slouch on the track either.
I would say the C8/C8Z06 is overrated, it seems like they can do a good launch with the weight distribution And outruns many rwd cars from a dig, But high end is overrated, they are slower then most cars that have the similar power to weight ratio, even cars that claim 100hp lower from the stock like My friend’s stock AMG GTR with 577hp can do a similar trap speed like this ✌️670hp✌️z06 in the 1/2miles.
You know this car is set up in track alignment right? It's built to turn not just run in straight lines. GM hit a home run building a car that can run 10.5 1/4 and beat the GT3 by seconds on the track.
You couldn't be anymore wrong. Its an excellent no compromise street car with all the luxury and space you need. It does 10s on the quarter mile and destroys race tracks and cars costing double.
I find it funny as fuk how people of the automotive world are flat out comparing everything on wheels to the Corvette, as if they are trying to discredit the car. I also find it amusing how people actually think a straight line drag race is the total performance of a vehicle.
My Z06 spot in line came up but couldn't get carbon aero so I passed until next allocation round. Hope this changes soon otherwise I'm going to have to order a non aero car. Im a low number and my dealer got 45 allocations Dec. 1st. Keep the content coming Austin.
I think that's a smart decision considering how big of a difference that Z07 package makes, hopefully you can get you hands on one soon! I'm sure all the carbon will hold its value better as well
I wonder if the Z is as hard to tune as regular C8, I’m sure it is but I did see impressive results from Streetspeed 717 with his straight piped, it put down 630 on the dyno if I remember correctly, that’s about 30-35 hp gain, unless it’s a dyno discrepancy.
The visual observations are bull. The modded GT500 was turning into a distant dot as it should have with a 200 plus HP advantage. Don’t know what you were seeing. Against the stock one your big jump and the angle of the video made it l look worse than it was. He was catching you. The traps speeds don’t lie. The GT500 punches way up its weight in so many ways. The ZO6 in your configuration is pushing twice the price. It should perform like the Supercar it is. The Stang is a gussied up nose heavy S550 that can be had for 30K in its humblest form. It’s no Z06, but it quite simply has no right to be.
I knew the z06 would take it off the launch, I really wanted to see it on something like a 60 roll though, I want to see the real improvement over the base c8.
Corvette always performed well on a drag strip . Some years it was the faster car than most others . Corvettes are light and it helps them out in straight line performance. The only real competition for the vettes in the past was the AC Cobras ,GT 40s ,GT Ford and more recently the Vipers , I always considered these to be track cars . And they are all bad ass in my book . Comparing “muscle” cars to any of them ??? I’m just not in tune with that . I mean I see guys building 2,500 hp Donks that kill hellcats , ZL 1 , GT 500 , . A person would be hard pressed to find anything like that setting records at a road course

Umm he did not smoke it. The gt500 has a higher trap therefore it is the faster car, the z06 is quicker but that's different, and just because it launches better. If you were rolling down the highway at 60 the gt500 would say byeeee. I mean come on what do you expect from something that has less torque than a regular c8 smh
a stock gt500 traps 2-3 mph faster in the quartermile than a zo6 so in a perfect run the mustang would pull.

The 2020 GT500 CFTP driven by Randy Prost on the track against a 2019 Porsche GT3RS ( he raced both against the clock). Look it up. The GT3 won by a fraction of a second. The CFTP was $102K. $80K less. The Z06 is about the same cost as the GT3.
So you can’t say the GT500 will get smoked by the Z06. Hell it’s $70K less. As Shelby said he makes cars that the working man can afford that can kick ass. Let’s see your Z06 on the track with a CFTP GT500 with the same track alignment and same driver. Hire Randy Post.
The GT3 RS doesn't dispatch the Shelby quite so easily. With Randy Pobst behind the wheel of both, the Porsche is just two-tenths of a second faster around Chuckwalla Valley Raceway.
For about $4K to swap an upper pulley and fuel rail mods and a tune the GT500 can add over 100hp. Try that on anything else and get back to us.
The only thing Shelby on the GT500 is the name.
Weird. I can add a hundred horsepower to my VW Golf for less than $1500. And the GT3RS is just in a different league of vehicle to the Mustang, even if the Mustang earns respect by turning the same lap time.

My point… the Shelby is 1/2 the cost. It’s all about character and balls out fun. Try one. It’s not all about polish and refinement. Sure the 911GT3RS is a work of art. It’s not going to be as fun on the street. It’s not an American muscle car. It’s built to track. Funny the old school American can keep up. Should be embarrassing. Read what the press wrote on balls out fun cars. Hagerty said the 2020-2022 GT500 is an instant collectors car. Classic American muscle that can handle with the best. There is nothing like it.

As far as power it’s diminishing returns. A car with 180hp can add another 100 easy with internal and external mods like cams, intake, exhaust, etc. The Shelby has 760. The engine can take much more in stock form. I’m talking rwhp. No internal mods at all. Increase the boost with a pulley, fuel mods, tune for much less than $4K depending on the shop. But it’s good to assume a higher number as a few more mods and get closer to 900rwhp. Depends on a lot of factors. Follow the tuners and builders. It’s all out there as proof. Boils down to how a car makes you feel.

It’s 1/2 the price of the artful Porsche but the fun factor of the GT500 is insane. Note Savagegeese’s reviews on track. Funny as hell.
That first run with the white gt500 was lame, the gt500 jumped the gun, should have rerun it.
The gt500 is a terrible dig car. The dual clutch doesn’t like launching at all. It’s definitely the faster car just finding a proper launch is tough. The new vettes are great launchers. Now from a roll is where the gt500 is ridiculous, definitely shines there.
Also that Gap was pretty substantial lol, he jumped but wouldn’t have made a difference that was bus lengths and still pulling.
Don’t forget that GT500 had 900 plus rwhp. 😁

I love both cars and I'm not biased here but I'll say it plain and would if I was driving the Z06 - the spread was increasing vs the modified GT 500 and the mustang never stopped widening the gap; which is the definition of exponential no matter how minute. Why the "don't believe your lying eyes" crap? Just be honest, especially with yourself.

The Z06 hasn't gone through the suggested break in period is why the dino number was low. Should have brought a Z06 that had its first oil change and turned. So you can use every option in the computer and modes.
We will rather have the Ford GT500 anytime much better car
The GT 500 driver blew the tires off on the launch then had to pedal around 60 as he started spinning again. Started making up ground near the end of the run.

760hp supercharged vs 670Na. Take it to the track the better runs circles around the stang. They both excel in different categories and both are amazing cars. The 500 isn’t a slouch on the track either.

I would say the C8/C8Z06 is overrated, it seems like they can do a good launch with the weight distribution And outruns many rwd cars from a dig, But high end is overrated, they are slower then most cars that have the similar power to weight ratio, even cars that claim 100hp lower from the stock like My friend’s stock AMG GTR with 577hp can do a similar trap speed like this ✌️670hp✌️z06 in the 1/2miles.
It’s a track designed car, and it’s going to demolish track times.
You know this car is set up in track alignment right? It's built to turn not just run in straight lines. GM hit a home run building a car that can run 10.5 1/4 and beat the GT3 by seconds on the track.
You have to remember that it is a N/A car. A lot of these other cars are not .
You couldn't be anymore wrong. Its an excellent no compromise street car with all the luxury and space you need. It does 10s on the quarter mile and destroys race tracks and cars costing double.

My Z06 spot in line came up but couldn't get carbon aero so I passed until next allocation round. Hope this changes soon otherwise I'm going to have to order a non aero car. Im a low number and my dealer got 45 allocations Dec. 1st. Keep the content coming Austin.
I think that's a smart decision considering how big of a difference that Z07 package makes, hopefully you can get you hands on one soon!

I wonder if the Z is as hard to tune as regular C8, I’m sure it is but I did see impressive results from Streetspeed 717 with his straight piped, it put down 630 on the dyno if I remember correctly, that’s about 30-35 hp gain, unless it’s a dyno discrepancy.

Personally drag racing a car for road courses doesn’t say much.
The visual observations are bull. The modded GT500 was turning into a distant dot as it should have with a 200 plus HP advantage. Don’t know what you were seeing. Against the stock one your big jump and the angle of the video made it l look worse than it was. He was catching you. The traps speeds don’t lie. The GT500 punches way up its weight in so many ways. The ZO6 in your configuration is pushing twice the price. It should perform like the Supercar it is. The Stang is a gussied up nose heavy S550 that can be had for 30K in its humblest form. It’s no Z06, but it quite simply has no right to be.

I knew the z06 would take it off the launch, I really wanted to see it on something like a 60 roll though, I want to see the real improvement over the base c8.
Corvette always performed well on a drag strip . Some years it was the faster car than most others . Corvettes are light and it helps them out in straight line performance. The only real competition for the vettes in the past was the AC Cobras ,GT 40s ,GT Ford and more recently the Vipers , I always considered these to be track cars . And they are all bad ass in my book . Comparing “muscle” cars to any of them ??? I’m just not in tune with that . I mean I see guys building 2,500 hp Donks that kill hellcats , ZL 1 , GT 500 , . A person would be hard pressed to find anything like that setting records at a road course
