Best Video about lights & best setup. I like the way you explain. Will buy same lights. Subscribed . Thank you. You deseve 1 million subscribers i have searched 2 weeks for best video, finally found it.
I have watched this video over 12 times! lol My lights just came in and when I tell you this is the most helpful video thus far!! My new setup now is LIT! Literally!! 🤣
I've been struggling with the right lighting setup for hours and this instantly fixed it! I was putting my main light too far away, once I moved it closer and put the hair light in place it turned out perfect. Thank you.
My key light keep washing out my backlight. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? When I lower the key light, its too dark in the room. When I make it lighter, it washes out the background
You just made is look so easy and easy it is to understand. I really appreciated the part where you mentioned that one doesn't have to get all those lights in one shot. Upgrade slowly as you grow. Thank you.
I am just discovering this wonderful and magnificent tutorial for lighting that has been here for a year, but for some reason UA-cam just never presented it to me during search or something. I have been struggling with the correct lighting for my UA-cam background of years. This one video helped me more than any other video I have watched. I have spent over $1000 in lighting and never could get the setup I wanted to work. I am now using about $300 of lighting with almost this exact setup you use during this video.
Dude, this is exactly the video I was after. Good on you and UA-cam for having it come up first for my search query. For my purposes I really like how compact, punchy and versatile those RGB type lights are. Don't really want the bulk of the key light you have; what are your thoughts on using a RGB light for the key? Can I diffuse the RGB easily or would I just dim it down. Thanks heaps! Great content. Subbed.
Hey! Thanks man! I don’t recommend using a pocket rgb light as a key light. It’s just not bright enough. Get yourself a small key light, like the Sokani (check my review) with a small softbox. GoPro use a different kind of mount, which is more like a clip on. So you can’t really use pocket rgb lights with a GoPro mount. However, light stands on Amazon are not too expensive ;)
Perfect. Very useful video. I’m trying to find the setup for my tiny studio but the space is too little to separate the background...I have to study and try more. Thank you !
@@PaulHeimlund seriously, very good. You made it so simple. Have you got a video explaining the soft box? I have improved my lighting a lot but no where like yours. I am a cycling coach and bike fitter - UA-cam started as fun at start of covid but it’s now growing into a beast 😂 Want to improve production of live streams.
@@BulletproofCycling Wow! Great to hear you’re channel is growing! Covid sure changed a couple of things 😅 I haven’t got a dedicated video on the softbox. Check out my video on the Godox sl-60 light, as I talk a bit about it there. Maybe I should review the softbox soon🤔😉
@@PaulHeimlund awesome - thanks Paul. It’s just to understand the role of a good soft box and position of it. Looking forward to learning more from you 👍
Paul once again bringing us super helpful content. Any tips on how to set up a hair light when you don't have a lot of room? The stand always end up in the shot.
Hey Wellyson! Always nice to see you here. Some lightstands are lower than others. I had to get some taller ones as the light and stand was in the shot. Another idea would be to use velcro and double sided tape and mount a pocket rgb light in the ceiling. Option B, which I use a lot, is to sit on a bar stool instead of standing... Let me know if this helps ;)
Amazing tutorial! Love it! THANK YOU SO MUCH it really HELPED ME A LOT! Keep on recording Your movies - it's such a pleasure to watch and learn from you!!!
Like the video, although the lighting placement seems not to be optimal as it cast some heavy shadows across your face. Am I missing something? I’ve never set lights up in this way and I’ve been watching videos trying to learn about such things.
Hey! There’s no such thing as optimal lighting, as it all comes down to taste. If you want a more standard light you should go for a 3 point lighting setup.

Also wondering if there are mount adaptors so I could use the RGB type lights on GoPro mounts. To avoid perhaps having so many stands.

Nicely done...will the Weeylite RB9 RGB light, light up the whole wall behind me and what stand do you use for it?
Thanks! If the room is fairly dark the rb9 should light up the wall. The light stand is a cheap one from Amazon. Link should be in description ;)

If you can manually control the video settings on your phone, like shutter speed, iso, etc this setup should work, at least to a certain extent 😉
