Birds Do Growl, Check It Out 😳

- I bought a new mini vacuum and of course Cosmo did not approve of it. She did eventually get used to it by periodically showing her it and me touching the vacuum and letting her see that there is no danger to me by holding it. Cosmo at first as does not like anything new coming into the house. I just wanted to show everybody that parrots do growl when they see something new that they are afraid of.

It's funny she is used to the first vacuum which I still have. It's an upright and she'll tell me to do vacuuming LOL. And sometimes when I run that vacuum she runs into her drinking dish and starts taking a bath. Apparently a lot of birds will start taking a bath when a vacuum is running. But this was a new mini one one that she has never seen before. She likes it now but unfortunately I just got another vacuum one of those stick ones, well she hates it.

It's so interesting. Gizmo said "just growling death" the other day and has a cute song Short video centered around it now if you haven't seen it. I really love your Cosmo and Gizmo livestreams. I watch them all. They are so fascinating and fun to view. Cosmo and Giz are brilliant and now I'm thinking maybe parrots are actually smarter than we are 😂❤

That’s sad to see a bird upset but it shouldn’t take too long for any of them to get use to something new. When I brought my baby grey home he was 4 months old. The next day I started sweeping the living room and he fell to the bottom of his cage and started rocking and growling. I called the lady I bought him from and I told her I know you sweep. She said she has a whole house vac system and the noisy part is in the basement. So bless Gabby’s heart, he’d never heard the sweeper. 😢

Yes, my African Grey made a super growl when he saw the neighbours dog the first time.
He is fine with our dog but that doesn’t mean he is OK with all dogs.
It was really deep and we had never heard him make that sound before.

She's okay with the old vacuum she used to tell me that I have to vacuum lol. She's used to the new mini one now but I also just got one of those stick vacuums, which she is not used to. She hates that vacuum more than that mini one😁

I think it's so incredible how you actually respond to so many messages. No one expects you to be able to respond to everything... But like the majority of us will never be able to have a relationship with an African Grey in our lifetimes. I've seen some other growly parrot videos but they were mimicking dogs to seem more intimidating
This is her actual growl. She also knows how to mimic a dog growling but this is actually her growl.
The first time I heard her growl, it actually scared the heck out of me. I didn't know if she was injured or what? And then I googled about parrots growling and yes she sounds like the typical parrot growling.

Yes, it's out of the room and I bring it in periodically holding it nicely and talking about the vacuum to her. She is good with the mini one now. I got a new stick vacuum the other day and today she was better with it❤️

The first time we heard toffee growl we jumped I picked a piece of wood up she was petrified

When I worked with a bird breeder years ago, we had a macaw named Chevy that growled like this. 😂
She was getting upset. My birds do not like the vacuum at all either, even Mangle (his name is Mango, but Mangle fits better) Sometimes he looks at me like I am lucky he lets me live. He is DYH Amazon. Even Mangle goes to the farthest corner in his cage, to get away from the vacuum.

I already knew about the growling. My 25 year old Senegal has been doing it for the last few years in response to my mother's voice. I don't EVER leave her alone with the bird - my parrot is more important. I heed his warning. She doesn't like him anyway.
My grey does exactly the same thing when she sees the mini vac or a dustbuster. Who knew those things were so evil ??
