I am a big rugby fan, and I was very happy about winning the 1995 rugby world cup. But Josia Thugwane's victory in the 1996 Olympic marathon was bigger for me personally. I had tears in my eyes when this brave athlete beat the field to take gold. Well done, we love you Josia!
I saw him in 2015 at the Cape Town marathon. He said he is busy developing young athletes in his community. Great man and true South African.
Kenya's Erick Wainaina does not get the credit he deserves. He won bronze in the 1996 Olympics and silver in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Congratulations Erick. Watching from Nairobi, Kenya.
Josias Thugwane, will always be a sport icon in South Africa for what he has done🇿🇦🇿🇦
One of the best marathon I have seen! The change of gear those three athletes made the last miles very exciting to watch. And the history of the South African athlete is inspirational!
Forgotten legend . I always take time out to watchs this marathon .
What a victory for Josiah, not only over his competition but in a way over aparthied. This was a moment for all of South Africa
I was eleven years old and staying with my parents in the village I remember watching a black and white tv 📺...With power from a battery 🔋...I watched this marathon 🏃 with my mom an my little brother my dada also worked at the mines just like Josia ...when I saw he opened that gap and he was about to finish I was so exited...Non much I knew about apartheid or segregation then...I learnt it when I was about 13 and 15 and yes ...This morning before I go to run 🏃 I decided to check this hero out......I like what the producer of this piece says .....We can now have black and white champions....We thank the government of Mandela and Sobukwe who fought for us to be free....Let’s live in a non racial non sexist and free economy to all South Africans who live in South Africa 🇿🇦 because we all belong to it ❤️❤️❤️❤️🏃🏃🏃🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
이봉주 선수는 내가 자랑스럽게 생각하는 진정한 한국의 영웅이다

Beautifully made and proving that everything is possible if you are determined.
A true inspiration... Who has definitely made our country proud.
Oi aqui e Brasil valeu 10
Thanks Josia for putting this country on the map. One thing about South Africans, we love winners and at times we forget about socioeconomic challenges and racial divide when we are in sport fields
The most memorable marathon . Josiah ran out of this world.. I watched lived and was blessed to watched him win .
That must have been an insane experience!
My dad ran in this marathon :)
Jordan Hellebuyck were is he from?
Jordan Hellebuyck+ And when is he seen in the is this clip?
Your dad ran, is his first name Eddy?
Nice
@@runcaz7802 It is indeed Eddy Hellebuyck. He is from Belgium and finished 67th in Atlanta. He also won the Boston Marathon in 2003.
En esos juegos, nuestro país, Colombia, estuvo representado por Carlos Mario Grisales, quien ocupó el puesto once. Gran carrera. Lo recordamos con orgullo.
이봉주 선수 자랑스럽습니다!
Josiah will always be our hero🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

My mam
Ethiyopia
Too bad there are not enough of people like him in sa
I give credit to Eric wainaina a kenyan .. 🇰🇪
이봉주 따봉
