Yeah, like so what she's not real? Do none of these people ever get attached to fictional characters in TV shows? I'd argue that her not being real is actually better, not only because of the vastly more diverse songs she can sing featuring herself in different stories, but because she herself can't be affected by her fame or be tainted by bad actions. It's all the fun of looking up to a pop star but without any of the nasty bits like pressure, maltreatment or scandals, or worrying if they're morally good. Plus, even in normal concerts you're going for the atmosphere more than anything else right? Doesn't it look so fucking hype? Being in a giant room packed with people who love the same music as you, yelling and waving glowsticks and watching incredible hologram technology at the front. With a live band too, it's just the vocals that are synthesised. And personally I really love seeing the animation, the chemistry between the different vocaloids when they perform together, the fact that vocaloids can pull off some things humans can't (see the chorus of unknown mother goose or the intense voice of hatsune miku), the wide range of styles of music because the songs were made by all sorts of different people.. the list just goes on and on

Yeah, like so what she's not real? Do none of these people ever get attached to fictional characters in TV shows? I'd argue that her not being real is actually better, not only because of the vastly more diverse songs she can sing featuring herself in different stories, but because she herself can't be affected by her fame or be tainted by bad actions. It's all the fun of looking up to a pop star but without any of the nasty bits like pressure, maltreatment or scandals, or worrying if they're morally good.
Plus, even in normal concerts you're going for the atmosphere more than anything else right? Doesn't it look so fucking hype? Being in a giant room packed with people who love the same music as you, yelling and waving glowsticks and watching incredible hologram technology at the front. With a live band too, it's just the vocals that are synthesised. And personally I really love seeing the animation, the chemistry between the different vocaloids when they perform together, the fact that vocaloids can pull off some things humans can't (see the chorus of unknown mother goose or the intense voice of hatsune miku), the wide range of styles of music because the songs were made by all sorts of different people.. the list just goes on and on
does anyone else hate how the media portrays anime fans? like we are average people, but they always manage to find the weirder ones, and it kills me how they make use look like no lifers. not all of us only watch anime. We don't just like one thing and thats it.

The news makes it seem like we are people who just sit around and binge watch anime, do nothing other than that, have no life, no job, and they make it seem like we aren't the people you want to be friends with.

***** listen dude don't blur the line between weeb and otaku. weeb is when you want to be japanese and are obsessed with japanese culture. otaku is basically someone who has no life or very little and really loves manga and anime. NOT ALL OF US A SICKOS is my main point. we don't all have wet dreams about gasai yuno. I just don't have a life and fill that void with anime. Because of that I'm an otaku. I try to take pride in that because it not only attracts people with similar interest but also gives you more confidence. you wouldn't like to be called a fairy boy or something because you are gay. that doesn't make you confident. Not if you think of it in the negative way. Instead of shaming yourself why not embrace who you are? I understand that fox needs a story that sells and I think that making a group of people look bad who aren't doing anything wrong is sick and shouldn't be allowed.

Exactly. It pains me that over 90% of the Vocaloid "fans" call the singers Vocaloids while Vocaloid is a synthesizer program while the singers are just voicebanks of real people. I've seen way too many people saying Miku's voice is completely programmed from scratch.
