Thanks Jimmy and Andrew! I am happy to see Andrew was relatively injury free from that high speed crash. I have crashed over 30MPH a couple times and it sucked. Gear saved me both times from significant injury. I am not getting a Master to hit 60MPH. I want that 60MPH so I can cruise at 35-40MPH with a LOT of head room.
100% Respect the beeps and you should be fine. Push the limits, and eventually it will catch up with you. Be safe!
@@freshlycharged My Pebble watch Wheel Log setup vibrates when I hit 40MPH. I can't always hear the beeps at speed. I think it is mandatory to have a real-time monitoring device that shows your speed when you are looking forward. I have my Pebble attached to my Flexmeter wrist-guards so I can easily see all key data and keep an eye out in front of me. Beeps and speed wobbles always keep m on my toes.

@@freshlycharged You will want to use your Pebble as your EUC dashboard going forward. There is nothing quite like it. It is even better than the displays on EUCs as who looks down when you are doing 40mph+?
The gear literally saved Andrew's life. That was one of the worst EUC crashes I have ever seen. So glad he was able to walk away from it.

I've crashed before. (After that, )one rule I remembered : "EUC riders should always respect the beep."
How about "EUC riders should always stop wasting Earth's resources, get off their ridiculous things and buy a much more practical bicycle?"
@@Kahsimiah You're definitely not an adrenaline junkie lol I've heard the same argument for scooters but I'd never give my longboard up for a scooter. It's just more fun to live on the edge even if it means I might die younger. Also these unicycles are less resource-intensive so in theory if somebody uses it in lieua of a bicycle they're actually probably doing the Earth a benefit
@@friedtomatoes4946 climber, mountaineer and road bike racer is what I am, so don't even try to tell me anything about edges. The speed that little rare earth consuming unithingy does for you, my body can reach itself, even if just for a short time. It's like flying and you can do it without f*****g with the environment too much. But then again, we've seen in this video that unithingy riders fall off at that speed and their unithingy goes byebye when they do, so I'd conclude that 45 is only meant to be reached for a short time here, too.
Plus, I can modify my bike to carry bags to shop for a week or ride longer distances.
All without needing electronics and batteries, which are not very eco friendly in harvesting resources, very hard to recycle and ethically problematic.
Oh and my bike turned 18 this year. Can a unithingy reach that age fully functional? I highly doubt that.
@@Kahsimiah frankly dude I'm too mentally ill to actually keep up a consistent workout schedule. I would be unable to do any of the things you do to push the limits. On top of that I'm time constrained and location constrained. My only access to the adrenaline rush is my longboard. Also this crash here with this unicycle was indeed when someone was pushing it past what it was supposed to be going. The same thing can happen on a motorcycle or a bicycle. Sure it's more likely to happen on this thing but even this unicycle is in a repairable condition. An electric bicycle is also a rare earth-consuming thing. It's motors wear out at the same rate it's batteries wear out at the same rate and the electronics themselves are not super material expensive. Sure they are very intensive to make but in terms of resources used on them it's not anything that's that rare. You're not going to get any argument with me a bike is infinitely more practical and before my mania hit I used to ride bikes all the time.
Your environment argument makes no sense though because an electric bicycle consumes as much or more than this unicycle. Are you suggesting that we should just ride regular bicycles? That's fine for some sure but there are mobility limited people. On top of that these are usually very low production run maybe a few thousand produced. Not a huge impacter compared to other industries. In fact if you want to get on the whole it's bad for the planet thing there are thousands of more resource intensive luxury items that we could cut. For example cars, cell phones, portable battery banks, laptops and computers, ect. These are things consumed in the millions and disposed of unnecessarily and improperly in the millions. In the grand scheme of things a limited production run of a small item using minimal amounts of rare earth material is not even a measurable drop in the bucket of our consumption. It also represents a significant increase in the joy and happiness of those who use it.
We have to understand that all of our luxury items come at a significant cost to the environment. Do we really need that new phone? Do you really need that new TV? The answer to that is no but people are going to buy it no matter what. The solution is not to not purchase these new things but to develop better for the environment ways to produce them. Biodegradable plastics, carbon organic batteries, better and more proper recycling systems, awareness of proper disposal, ect. If properly disposed something like these unicycles can be like 80% reused. The lithium can be extracted and the rest of the materials can be melted down and reused. Even the plastic can be recycled usually.

but for real, the hype around this is completely unwarranted. there are no 60mph wheels yet, and this one looks like it struggles to maintain a safe 50mph even. the only wheel that appears to be a true 50mph wheel is the monster pro, but im not experienced with it so i dont even know if thats true.

EUC's have reached their peak speed. Same thing with scooters last year. There is too much risk going over 50-60 mph on these devices to ever warrant needing that much speed. It's time for the manufacturers to fine tune their current models and make them all the best quality possible. There is no reason to go faster. The scooter market is in this phase now of version 2 and 3 scooters coming out that are improved. EUCs will follow. Cheers to better quality for all of us in coming years!
There's a lot of risk going over 50km/h even 40 on these and scooters on constant basis. And i say it as mildly extreme bike driver.
OMG Andrew thank goodness you are okay!!!! I’m very compassionate after my own horrific scooter accident- it left me traumatized (and my brain), but hoping back on my scooters and ebikes again of course! Lots of lessons learnt from this, and one of them, like you, I got overly comfortable and that’s when it happened

I, personally, don't see the appeal of going car speeds in a completely unprotected context. 40-45mph wipeouts, even with a ton of gear, have the potential to permanently disable or kill and that doesn't seem like it's worth the risk for a little fun ride.
To each their own, of course, but having taken a spill -- with gear -- from my OW at 14MPH and still feeling the occasional tightness/soreness in the elbow I sprained a year ago is enough warning for me to stay far away from anything like this!
I was introduced to a Onewheel XR by a friend I was visiting. A friend who would later buy a Sherman Veteran. He drifted off the road on his Sherman and hit a telephone pole at 25mph. With all of the gear he had, he came out with no injuries.
Now I have a story of my own with the XR. A story of flying too close to the sun.
When I first tried the one wheel, I wasn't able to balance for more than a few feet on that thing. It took me a few days before I could actually go anywhere more than 15 feet with it, but then I started to get into the groove of it.
Before ya know it, I was regularly riding around town at a moderate pace. Occasionally, I would turn it up a notch and go around 15mph. After a few weeks, my buddy suggested that I try to get to a high speed and learn pushback at some point.
One day, I decided to go out to a school parking lot nearby and try it. I always wore a helmet, but I didn't always wear the other gear. Before I went out, he suggested that I wear the wrist, elbow and knee guards. I told him that I would be fine.
I rode around the parking lot, cruising around 15 for a while while listening to some music. I crept up to pushback a few times, but I had some doubt that I was actually feeling the pushback. So, after a minute, I leaned into it and the board nosedived. I didn't tumble or go flying. I dived and slid for enough time to realize that I was sliding. It was surreal. I couldn't believe how far I was sliding. I knew I was down bad.
When I got up, I looked at my knuckles on my left hand. I had a few layers torn up. I looked down on my right to see a huge road rash like the one in this video on my side, hip and thigh. Then I looked up to my elbow, woah. Part of my elbow was worn down to flesh. It didn't actually hurt that bad, so I rode home and went to clean up. That was the hardest part, getting a shower. From shoulders to ankles, that water stung like a bee. But I'll never forget that feeling of sliding so helplessly on the asphalt. Some people might say these machines are dangerous, but I think it is the rider who is dangerous. YOU are the human that is responsible for operating this technology! Think about what you value and what you are responsible for, before you use your tools. ;-)

I just experienced my first wipe out on my Dualtron thunder few days ago and have to wear a brace for my wrist. Give thanks you only came out with minor injuries yourself. This was definitely a learning experience.

@@freshlycharged only visible damage was on the left side by the front and rear light. It rubbed down a bit. Before my next ride after recovery I’ll be adding the sliders and damper.
So glad you are okay Andrew. Hope for speedy recovery. Yes, tough lesson learned. I have never ridden an EUC and probably never will because of higher risks of crashing. Will stick with my stable Bronco.
There’s no better advertisement for proper safety gear than Andrew’s mishap. That was one mighty crash, yet Andrew got up and walked away, and rode away, because he follows ATGATT. Ignoring the beeps? Well, that’s another matter. 😁
Learned my lesson the hard way with this crash. Lucky to have walked away from this crash.

Great video. It’s not a perfect world. No matter how “SUPER!” the vehicle, eventually it will suffer from the harsh reality.
Two things are great about this: it shows how despite taking a real beating, it still works for its primary purpose.
Secondly, this shows the high value of good safety gear.

In 2 weeks he may be fully healed. Contrast that to how his head would have hit the road, as evidenced by the helmet damage, without cranial protection. I doubt he would have been fine in 2 weeks without the gear. Good stuff guys.

They were looking at speed of 60 mph. Check into better gear. Speed and over confidence kills.

A trolly handle with premature ejection problems? Classic line that probably got missed in the hype of the crash. Great video gents, awesome you got that crash on video, those who have not yet crashed at speed might learn something and gear up.
And that's why you gotta wear a full face helmet at all times. These fast EUC need a proper disk brake too, regen brakes isn't enough for those top speed if you want a safe stopping distance.

WELL THAT WAS AN EPIC CRASH! THANK GOD FOR YOUR SAFETY GEAR I WAS RIDING A HILLAND CUSTOM-MADE ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKE NO SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO I BIT IT BAD. THE BIKE NO LONGER WORKS MY PINKY BROKE OFF TOTAL COMPOUND FRACTURE AND SOMEHOW IT ENDED UP STICKING THROUGH THE PALM OF MY HAND. AND I'M A MUSICIAN SO IT'S EFFED ME UP FOR GOOD LONG TIME

At 12:07 you can see a piece heading into the stratosphere! Insane that you were not too badly hurt and that thing didn't catch on fire immediately!

It is strange that so many riders rely on the beeps or even ride the beeps. Personally EUC world should be connected to your wheel and audio alerts over Bluetooth earphones and vibration alert set to on. Yes they were swapping the wheel but you should always connect. It is also vital your phone is strapped to your arm as you feel the alert before you hear the alert. EUC world is voltage based now so tilt back should be set accordingly. The rider had no motorbike boots on, and got very lucky because during the cutout you see the left foot touch down, this could have been a break. People praise lazy rolling and that's fine but.... your jacket should be zipped into your pants, this stops that jacket exposing skin during a crash. Lastly if you are going to push it consider a neck brace, tumbling is the worst thing to happen during a crash. Thankyou for posting this it really bring home safety, and I have watched this video many times to drive the point home.
Glad you are ok Andrew! Gear is indeed important. I usually gear to the speeds I travel, and the moment you mentioned you were going into the 40's, I immediately thought about your hands and road rash. At any speed over 35, I add full fingered moto gloves to save my fingers and wear a full moto suit to try to curb road rash.
I liked Jimmy's monologue talking about how EUC tech is increasing. But we do have to remember that 134v is brand spanking new tech and numbers we are used to in the 100v world (i.e. should be ok at certain speeds at 60% battery, 3 beeps should still be ok...) may not necessarily translate 1 to 1. I loved everything about the Master except the battery because I know battery sag is a big cutout factor and the Master eats battery like candy...1% every second in some situations, and the rider is having such a great time that it's hard to notice that battery slipping away.
Anyways, glad Andrew is ok and everyone please gear up to match your riding! Hope your Master is restored soon!!
What Full Moto suit do you have??
Battery sags are more pronounced in the Master, especially they wired it to lower the volt to reduce battery potentially battery fire. Watch Kevin from e-ride for more info. This method might work if they have 3600Wh for the Master..

The word you're looking for is _barely._ He was barely geared up. Why would riding on one wheel require less protection than riding on two? 🤔
Traveling at that speed you need better safety gear. You should have full gloves not those cheap wrist protectors. You need to protect your fingers as well.
Just goes to show you how good Flexmeter wristguards are. Those things saved my hands in the past too.

do you guys know what it means when i have permanent pain in my wrist? it only hurts when i twist it a certain way. id say its fully healed now as its been a year ago but it still feels tight/painful

I’m glad he’s okay. Definitely listen to the beeps next time. Perhaps only try full sending on full charge (for the 50E), or consider the molicel variant if you really want speed demon all the time. These batteries sag more the lower you are in the pack

Phew... that was quite a fall. The tumbling is the worst. It is in our instincts to try and walk or run off the wheel which can get interesting at 40mph. Glad to see you made it out okay. There is a belt loop in the jacket that can be connected to the pants. Most people are not aware of it or don't use it. It won't perform miracles but it does more than nothing. Time for a new jacket or hoodie! Mail our support at Lazyrolling and we will hook you up.

Very true. We need to upgrade the gear. For filming though, it's so nice to have those digits to get your camera gear rolling.
Even with all his gear, he is still lucky to be able to walk away with only a few abrasions. I crashed on my road-bike doing only15 miles an hour and got really messed up, twice in two months. That was over two years ago and I haven't ridden since. I still have a shoulder problem that never healed properly. I have heard that tumbling like he did is actually better than just falling off at a slow speed where you just hit the ground in a lump, which is most end up breaking bones etc..... I wish I was young enough to try my hand at riding those motorized unicycles.

This is why I love wearing gloves that cover up the fingers as well. Cuts on my fingers has to be my least favorite injury just because you have to use your hands everyday
I've always felt that EUCs are not for the speed demons for only ONE REASON: the way EUC cuts off when it can't handle the speed. I get it; that's the only way EUCs can react because braking is electronic only and not with brake discs and rotors like scooters and bikes. But I'm hoping in the future that one of these EUC companies will engineer a better way to handle over-speeding, like auto slow down or reversal of speed instead abrupt stop. Anyway, I hope Andrew is okay now.
Andrew, Just WOW! So super glad you're ok. Wish you were wearing hip guards. I wear them every time I ride. Been thru so many bike wrecks and my hips have taking a killing. Get better brother!
I was wearing hip guards with Kevlar lined pants from lazyrolling. The issue was my jacket rolled up on the crash.

Just looking at the helmet, if Andrew hadn't been wearing one, he could have suffered some major head injuries. What a great testament to safety gear!!

Jimmy and Andrew, Thank you for the great reviews. Andrew, Thank you for taking one for the team. I hope you don’t have any lasting affects from the crash. It was a nasty crash. A follow up review of the safety gear should be next. Wear safety gear, and heed the warning beeps.
Why is there no tiltback that would have saved Andrew? On Kingsong wheels it is for years. No matter how hard I push my 18xl, even on low battery, tiltback always saves me when I go beyond the beep or push it too hard.
There is tiltback. That however prevents this kind of limit testing which is why i assume it was disabled.
@@oxaile4021 The limit should not be considered cut off speed but instead max "safe" riding speed within the capabilities of the wheel and that is when tiltback should occur.
I’m glad you’re ok and I liked the cool Icarus story but that was speed wobble, not a cutout. It can be hard to blame ourselves when our skills come up short or we screw up. I don’t think it’s fair to blame the wheel on that one. Crashing is part of getting better but it’s tough to improve if you don’t learn the right lesson

I bought my Wolf Warrior X because of your review, guys. And I bought protective equipment after I fell from a rent scooter. Now I have some black and blue on my legs but no more risk. Just viewed this incident,and it is a miracle you emerged from this horrific crash all in one piece and credit to your protective gear,without which the outcome would have been tragic.Happy you are still around first and foremost for your family,friends,and last but not least the numerous fans who enjoy the exciting content you and Jimmy share with your fan base on UA-cam.
As of posting this,I figure you are completely healed by now.
I am doing well and glad I learned from this lesson without majorly breaking any bones. I don't push EUCs to the limits anymore. I'll let someone else do that from now on. Thankful for great safety gear.

Our Dude Andrew is largely OK. Phew.!.. because that was a Face-Plant-ROYALE!. He is being very brave not to wince or complain rest of video, must be painful, total respect, very professional. I hope he gets a lot of love & care at home, thinking about his recovery, that road rash is going to weep and complain next 5 days... "hold tight" Andrew.
The helmet was the star of the day. The problem is Begode need to redesign wheel to withstand that crash better.
Conclusion: It may be fast... but you cannot crash the Begode Master. it simply disintegrates.
Absolutely great use of gear. 60% power is defo time to be dialing back on toque demand, Im dialing back on power demand at 7x% batt. Ride safe folks

I understand how cut-outs happen but I don't understand why we can't cut out the cut-outs. What's so hard about not allowing the euc to go any faster than it can support? You mean to tell me the onboard computer can't prioritize power delivery? Just doesn't make sense to me.

If you pick up the video at the 12:04 mark you see around 12:05-12:06 a piece of the EUC get launched into the air, at first I thought it was a bird, then I saw the replay again and realized it was a piece off from the EUC, I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume you guys didn't find that piece.
And big props to you guys for doing this type of testing where you did, if this was done in an urban or suburb environment, an 80lbs projectile traveling at 40mph could have done some serious damage to some private property.
that gear saved you pretty good... Im suprised one crash wrecked that thing so badly. I bought a Segway when i was a kid and we would off road and wreck that thing constantly, at least for the price it held up very well. Although it didnt go nearly as fast.
I was kinda anxious as looking at the crash and then “Where’d the wheel go?” really got the humour 😂😂 😂😂

Props for wearing the gear. Pro-tip - I see a lot of guys without boots. On motorcycles you tend to slide, but with EV's usually your feet hit the ground first. It's easier to roll an ankle crashing on an EV than a motorcycle.

That was a huge hit Andrew took. It goes to show that even the best can become complacent and that listening to the machines is key so staying upright. With the right safety gear though if the worst does happen you can still be safe.

Andrew recovered smoothly. Just some bruises and abrasions. The Master was totaled and sent back to Ewheels to salvage parts.

Brother, You are so Blessed and I'm sincerely glad you weren't severely injured - But there's something I have to share and THANK YOU for... Last week I was riding my Thunder II at very low speed and safely passing nice and easy, stop and go traffic - was just passing the front of a van when he instantly turned right into me, I literally had no time to react and remember thinking "this guys gonna bounce me". Then impact - which sort of torque threw me off (I'm about 265 and 6'2") was surprisingly heavy for such a low speed (5 mph maybe). Long story short, apart from a strained wrist and slight bruise, I was ok and walked away with my scooter rock solid. Thing is - I'd watched this video before I bought my scooter and gear and you'd inspired me to get as much protective equipment as possible. I watched a similar video where an EUC rider fell and got a nasty "raspberry" on his side as well. I wear a full face helmet as you do and glad I did or else I'd have literally taken the whole force of the impact on my chin - the helmet got a bit of a scratch and lost it's rubber lip but I was good. I wore gloves, knee and elbow guards and just recently bought a heavy duty full chest/back/tail/ribcage vest and a padded snowboard under shorts (saved my hip and thing). I have to comment that I see a lot of videos of folks busting red lights and all I can say is that I wish them the best - There is a LOT of physics going on in an impact and bones and soft tissue don't win against steel, no matter how much gear you wear (internals can shift so hard that they tear away). Thanks so much for all your great videos - Your fall prevented me from severe injury. I continue to enjoy riding! Bless you guys & your families, Ride well, Ride Safe. PS. The driver was clueless as to why he turned into me - Go figure???
Glad you are alright. There are a lot of mindless drivers nowadays. I ride and assume no one sees me. I am happy we inspired you to wear safety gear. You never know when an accident will happen and safety gear will help out tremendously.

I’ve been riding a ninebot Z1 from Segway, and I felt once at a sustained speed. I will never forget it. I had a backache for 6+ months. I know what it feels
I bailed the other day, just a helmet and got some road rash on my palms and knee. glad you are ok

I just noticed at 12:02 as the wheel flies into the grass you can see the rear light go flying into the sky 🤣. That was some crash, glad ya were wearing ya gear Andrew as they say dress for the crash. Too bad the wheel is pretty much totaled with that frame crack I'd be a lil wary the structural integrity has been compromised. Looks like this wheel could use a roll cage like the Shermans have, and really that should be a standard thing for EUC's in general especially the higher performance models.
I never did trust that the Master could maintain those high speeds. The problem is the higher the speed the harder it is to hear the beeps. Especially if you're around other traffic. They really should limit it to 43-45 like the S22. That random piece flying off the Master as it was spinning off in the distance was pretty funny though.
A good reminder that we all need to see from time to time. I think I'll keep my speeds to mostly
Glad you are ok but lesson learnt just because you wear safety gear doesnt mean u should ride recklessly. Know your limits plus the limit of the unknown (Wheel).Prevention is better than cure. I ride on my channel always being vigilant and safe. Thanks guys this was another eye opening for the viewer in the euc community

That must have hurt. I had a cutout on my master at 16mph, no gears because I thought I would be ok just going around the block. Boy was I wrong. Heal up dude!

Happy the guy is safe, but also that the wheel didn't strike anyone at that inertia. Perhaps we should have a strap to keep it from flying off like that? I also notice one of the weak points for most protection sets: pants and shirts tend to crumple and expose the belly/waste while tumbling: that's why motorcycle (sport) jackets and pants can be zipped together (or in the case of racing suits...it's a 1 piece).
