What Darius is trying to say is that the black community needs to stop embracing certain stereotypes. Just because someone acts ghetto or can’t speak correctly doesn’t mean they are acting black. For one, it’s ignorant to say and two you’re saying that only black people are allowed to be ghetto. You shouldn’t be proud of it and it has a negative connotation. It’s like when black people speak proper english and someone says oh you talk white. That’s implying only white people speak correctly. You should be offended and not just accept it or embrace the fact that black people are ghetto because we’re not. Being black doesn’t mean you’re less than , ghetto , uneducated or poor. Especially in today’s time. We are doctors, entrepreneurs, business owners, lawyers, etc. so don’t accept anything less than extraordinary. We need to step away from that. It’s almost insulting yourself. I totally agree

I think it’s willful ignorance. Blove must be more aware than she pretends to be because she herself is colorist. Honestly, ma'am, I don't think it's that Blove doesn't want to be black...it's that she doesn't view everyone as, "that's black or that's white or that's hispanic or whatever. She looks at people being people regardless, of their race/skin color.
I think it just goes back to how your family raised you. Like some people are bigots and some are not. This is the only analogy I could think of. In the African American community we sometimes put labels on our people because they are different than what they're use to seeing. So in some blacks minds she's considered a "sell out", in which is a horrible thing to do. I hope this helps you to understand somewhat.
