Will this program work on a "Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime" edition, cell phone.? I have everything needed, and se-up, but can't seem to tether the phone to the dongle, via USB port. Phone doesn't see the dongle, or it's connection. Can anyone give a helping hand here in getting it operating correctly?
So, someone had the brilliant idea that the DVB-T/DAB/FM dongles, when you use modified drivers and software, can be tuned into wide band radios. I decided to get one and it's waiting for me at the parcel station not far from here. Will pick it up tomorrow. This hack works on Windows, Linux and even Android. This video must have been posted by someone in Poland, because in the 2nd minute there is an automated voice reading weather information in Polish and later on a Polish FM station.
I tried out this app and it is indeed a lot of fun but they only allow the band scope feature to appear for all of 20 whole second before it's gone for good unless of course you buy the full version of it. But my problem is 20 seconds use isn't even near long enough to test certain features to tell you if it's worth paying for. I don't know who came up with this 20-second idea but because of it I elected to just DUMP the damn thing because I'm not gonna be coerced into paying for something when the developer deliberately uses some ridiculously short time limit for the feature-set making it so you can't even test it out. I they allowed people to actually use the damn thing for say 5 minutes that would be a reasonable length of time but not twenty goddamn seconds... Sorry, it may seem petty to some but *NO SALE* here, at least not with this kind of trickery being employed :(

Downloading it via the Play Store doesn't mean the Band Scope will work any longer because it doesn't. It only works all of 20 seconds, which isn't long enough to allow anybody to do anything much-less try it out, and I'm not gonna BUY an app just because the developer incorporated a dirty trick to get more folks to buy it by only letting users operate the most important feature for all of 20 seconds. I'm sorry but 20 seconds of use isn't a trial, it's an insult and an outright trick designed to influence people to buy something they should be permitted more time to use because 20 seconds is just plain ludicrous.
How do you have this configured in the app and physical hardware? I have what looks like the same tuner and a gs4 but all I'm getting is static or whatever high pitched noise it makes.
I have a motorola 'E' android cell phone, and most software works on it, however, SDR Touch will not , I have DL the app and paid for it with Paypal and SDR Touch will not work with the RTL-SDR dongle. All i get is "no compatible devices found. I use powered hub and two different OTG cables , with and without a powered USB hub to connect to the dongle. -------help-----
Look on eBay for " Android Micro USB To USB 2.0 Converter OTG Adapter For Samsung Galaxy S5 S4 S3" cheap from China. I have the dongle and will try the program soon. I think you have 24 hours to get a refund on any app from Google Play Store?? 73

In some countries some bands are restricted, for instance in the UK you are not allowed to receive police transmissions, even encrypted, even if you don't break the encryption. A ham license will not help you there because a ham license only gives you access to ham bands, and does not allow you to receive restricted bands. Ham bands you are free to receive even without a license (but you need a license to transmit in them). However in other countries like the US you are free to receive any bands you want. The bottom line is: know the laws of the country you live in regarding bands that you are allowed to receive. This applies to all SDR receivers, and in general to all receivers, not only to this particular app+receiver combination.

Listening to HF, VHF and UHF frequencies is a decades-old hobby in many countries of the world. If you don't transmit anything, just receive, you don't even need a licence. Yeah Apple sucks a$$ when it comes to letting people create apps like this one for iPhones, lucky I have a cheap android, but will need to order the USB OTG (on the go) cable preferably powered because the reg usb cable not sure if it will be able to power up the RTL.SDR device. Need to try this out, I have this but in my computer with a roof antenna that gets UHF VHF and FM frequencies, so I'm going to try this out, thanks for the vid.

It's all fine and dandy until you start picking up number stations at 2 in the morning.

what is the difference between sdr touch and normal FM app on android device?
sdr touch can literally read satellite signals, and maybe star signals from other galaxies as well(no im not kidding)

You download the app. Plug in the usb dongle with a usb connector and then start the app.
