This video helps so much after I messed up on my chicken. It came out ugly and not beautiful anymore. I’m so embarrassed even though my grandpa said it’s okay. I’m sad that I sent him home with an ugly looking chicken. He said it’s okay, but I wish I did a better job. I’m glad there are actually tutorials to help teach me. I hope I can do a better job next time 😓😓
@tinyapple3885 hey, it's the thought that counts. I bet your grandpa was so happy inside that you kept this old tradition alive by packing him a chicken. He's proud of you. ❤️
Thank YOU for supporting even when I'm not consistent! So much (and so little) has happened in 2020 but looking forward to a much more consistent 2021!
You cant replace a mother's love. ❤ However, my mom gives me live chickens then tells me to butcher and clean them then share them with my sister. 😅😭 Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Haha.
@@bonntaub My parents have been raising their own chickens for over 30 years and I still cannot butcher a chicken. I can pluck, gut, and clean to perfection, but just don't ask me to butcher a chicken lol.
He is full of all sorts of happiness but when it comes to Hmong food... I think that's his most comfortable and happy place! (well maybe fishing MIGHT beat it lol).

Yeah, thats why your sister called me 10x when her MIL and friends came to visit. We also get them when we come home from Wisconsin (from our parents and even our sister).
It depends on the size of your chicken but you can check the doneness by poking the thigh portion with a knife to see how the juices look starting around 30-40 minutes.

Thanks! Putting the black pepper away now lol.
Lol. It's just a superstition! Take it with a grain of salt... or I guess in this case... pepper. 🤣✌
I can hear the sound of my mom finally approving of me ;o;
My mom still yells at me and says she bets I just sit around and do nothing! Hahaha.
Thank you! We've missed your content!

My sister can't butcher it either... So my mom says that my sister is mos mos so she can't do it and I gotta do it even though I'm the younger one. 😂

Do you feel like alot of people still do this custom? I think it is beautiful.
Yeah, thats why your sister called me 10x when her MIL and friends came to visit. We also get them when we come home from Wisconsin (from our parents and even our sister).
Absolutely!! My family we have guests sleeping over all the time and it's a tradition to provide good hospitality and send them home with love.
@@bonntaub I think you should also mention that it's never good to pack pepper along with this meal. Many young adults aren't aware.
@@Yoursoulfulforte yes! I mentioned it at 2:57
About how long (minutes) should you cook the chicken for?
It depends on the size of your chicken but you can check the doneness by poking the thigh portion with a knife to see how the juices look starting around 30-40 minutes.
I would just die, if I pack this to a funeral 🤣
LOL. If someone packs this for the funeral, please don't say you learned it from me! I already put the disclaimer out there!
